my extremely talented friend @achinghcarts has been writing these beautiful little snippets around the whole paddy/eoin/augustin idea and thus has inspired me in turn to write something as well. so, with her permission, i kinda wrote eoin's pov from this beautiful ficlet ! so if you enjoyed that, you might wanna check out the writing below:
he never planned for this to happen.
he's in love with paddy - has been for years, pretty much since the first time they talked on the sidelines after ambrose's rugby match. he's known, almost since then, that there's something between them, something special. even if technically they're just friends, he knows there's more to them than that, he knows that paddy feels it too. which is why he's always been okay with waiting - stealing touches instead of kisses, lingering looks rather than lips ever present in their shared times. all of that is more than enough because at the end of the day he knows that they both know there's more - and one day they'll unlock the door to that, together. he has never wanted anyone else.
which is why he never planned for this to happen.
and maybe that's why he didn't notice.
maybe that's why he didn't notice his smile growing wider when augustin handed him his pint that night and sat next to him.
maybe that's why he didn't notice that, despite the rest of the lads having left, he just grew more comfortable when augustin's attention was solely on their talk, their banter.
maybe that's why he didn't notice himself leaning closer, his face growing warmer. why he didn't notice the way his eyes dropped to augustin's lips, or the way his voice lowered the more his mind drifted.
and maybe that is why he didn't notice the moment the gap between them closed enough for them to kiss.
and eoin never planned for this to happen, no. but christ did he like it.
he liked the way augustin kissed him soft, as if he were asking for permission, as if eoin were delicate.
he liked the way augustin kissed him slow, as if he knew eoin had never kissed anyone before and needed to be shown what to do.
he liked the way augustin kissed him quiet, as if he didn't want any sound to disturb the peace and calm eoin felt.
-- but something else does.
maybe it's because eoin never planned for this to happen, so the universe sent a group of rowdy teens to cheer loud enough to break their spell, make augustin pull away.
and eoin never really planned for this to happen, but as he stares at augustin, surprised and breathless, there's one thought that resonates within himself:
he wants for this to happen again.
