I HAD SOMETHING ALONG THESE LINES COOKIN
Description: Arthur has a crush on the lizard specialist at his local zoo. He's a bit obvious about it.
Arthur had spent too many Sundays at the zoo. It had come to the point he was on a first name basis with the staff. He would dilly dally around the lions and zebras before beelining to his favourite exhibition.
Everyone knew why he was there. It was no secret, Arthur Frederick was in love with Y/n L/n. He thought he was so slick. The only thing that didn't know about his feelings?
The lizards.
"And that's why the bearded dragon is called a dragon!" Y/n explained to the crowd of kids, all letting out amazed gasps. Off to the side stood Arthur, with a similarly big smile.
He's heard every one of her lectures and knew them all by heart. His personal favourite was on the bearded dragons. They all were named after members of the Scooby Doo Gang.
Once Y/n put the Lizard named Daphne back in her cage the kids all dispersed leaving her with the grinning man.
"Wow, you knocked that out of the park" he exclaims "I mean, this is definitely top 10 times you've done that presentation" he jokes, her laughing with him
"Yeah? I'm glad you think so, you're basically my number one fan at this point" she teases. Not only had she picked up on the fact that Arthur had a crush on her, she felt the same way about him.
"I'm starting a Y/n fan club as we speak" he leans back, against the wall. Him wearing a cheeky smile.
"I'll make sure to let my mom know to subscribe" she says rolling her eyes "Where are you supposed to be right now?"
"What do you mean? I don't have anything going on" he says confused. Having control on his schedule made spending time with Y/n easy.
"What about later? Have Any plans then?" She asked, as she leaned against the same wall next to him. The two facing the reptile hall, as happy children wander about.
"Nope, I almost never film on Sundays, they're my relax day" he explains. "Again, why?"
The cogs in his brain turning as he tried to figure out what she was getting at. He was so clueless to the small looks she was giving him or how her body was slightly shaking.
"Well, I was wondering what time you are going to pick me up" she says pushing off the wall "maybe 6?" She suggests, finally looking over to the man.
Arthur stood with his jaw dropped and cheeks red. You couldn't help but giggle at the sight.
"Uh-" he gulps "Yeah! Six o'clock. Could I have your number?" She nods, slipping him her phone number written on a dinosaur shaped post it note. Giving him a wave she headed to the main office where she was greeted by four coworkers.
"Y/N!" They all exclaimed loudly, nearly knocking the woman off her feet. The five animal nerds all excited about her boldness in asking out the man.
"I can't believe I did it! I'm just glad I didn't do it with Lizard shit on my hands" she admitted, still buzzing from the news of date night.
Anything Arthurtv that includes jealousy from his side would be welcome
a/n: hope you like it, also thanks so much for the request:)
Summary: Arthur and Y/N have been best friends since university, navigating content creation, late-night edits, and awkward fan comments about their âwill-they-wonât-theyâ dynamic. But everything shifts when Arthur notices Y/N getting close to someone newâsomeone who isnât him. When jealousy rears its head, Arthur is forced to confront feelings heâs buried for far too long.
Arthur Frederick was sulking. Not in a dramatic, over-the-top wayâhe wasnât that type. No, this was the subtle, broody kind of sulking that came with barely concealed glares at his phone, grumbles under his breath, and editing a video with far more keyboard slamming than necessary.
âJesus, Arthur, did Premiere Pro personally offend you or something?â
You peeked around the corner of his desk, a half-smile on your face as you held up two mugsâone coffee, one tea. You knew his preference depending on the hour.
Arthur muttered something unintelligible but reached for the tea anyway. âThanks.â
You raised an eyebrow, settling on the armrest of his gaming chair, the way you always did when you wanted to distract him. âYou okay?â
âIâm fine.â He sipped his tea too aggressively. âJust tired.â
Right. Sure. Heâd been off since last night, when you posted an Instagram story of you laughing with Lewisâyour new coworker at the BBC. You were aware of Arthurâs disapproval, but you hadnât expected him to spiral into petty silence.
You narrowed your eyes. âDid Lewis do something to you?â
Arthur snorted. âAside from showing up in my life uninvited and hijacking your attention? No.â
You blinked. âWhat?â
âI said nothing,â he muttered, returning to his screen.
You tilted your head, resting your chin on your palm. âArthur.â
âWhat?â
You leaned in. âNo way⌠youâre actually jealous.â
His fingers froze above the keyboard.
He didnât respond, but the red tint creeping up his ears said it all.
You grinned. âOh my god. You are.â
Arthur spun in his chair to face you. âIâm not jealous. Heâs just⌠I donât trust his jawline.â
You laughedâloud and warm. âHis jawline?â
âItâs too sharp. Like, cartoonishly sharp. I feel like it could cut glass.â
âArthur.â You laughed again. âYouâre being ridiculous.â
He rubbed the back of his neck, not meeting your eyes. âHe looks at you weird.â
You blinked. âWeird how?â
âLike he already knows heâs gonna ask you out. Like he thinks he has a chance.â
You blinked again. âWhat if he does?â
Arthur finally looked at you, something raw and vulnerable flickering across his face. âDoes he?â
The room stilled.
You werenât sure when things changed between you and Arthur. Maybe it was the late nights editing side-by-side, knees brushing. Or the way he made your coffee exactly how you liked it without asking. Or how he never let you walk home alone after filming, even if it meant taking a train an hour out of his way.
Or maybe it was the way he looked at you now, like you were the only thing anchoring him in the world.
âNo,â you said, softly. âHe doesnât.â
Arthur let out a slow breath. âGood.â
You rolled your eyes, but your heart was hammering. âStill doesnât explain why you acted like a grumpy cat all day.â
âI wasnâtââ
âArthur, you full-on growled when I mentioned his name earlier.â
He didnât deny it.
Silence settled between you again, thick and expectant. You broke it.
âYou couldâve just said something, you know.â
âLike what? âHey Y/N, itâs totally normal that I want to punch your coworker because I have repressed feelings for you and get irrationally angry when anyone else gets your attentionâ?â
You laughed. âYes. Exactly like that.â
Arthur cracked a small smile. âI thought I was being subtle.â
âYou were about as subtle as a car alarm.â
He sighed, looking up at you. âOkay. I like you.â
You stared at him. âSay it again.â
He blinked. âI⌠like you?â
âNo, I meanâsay it like you mean it.â
Arthur stood up, hands settling on your hips like it was instinct. âI like you, Y/N. I think Iâve liked you since you made fun of my mic setup in uni.â
You laughed again. âIt was held together by duct tape and hope.â
âAnd yet you still sat beside me in every lecture.â
âI didnât want you to suffer alone.â
He leaned closer. âYou still donât want me to suffer alone?â
You smiled. âDepends. Are you going to glare at everyone who talks to me?â
âProbably.â
You shrugged. âThen yeah. Still donât want you to suffer alone.â
His forehead pressed against yours. âYou know Iâd never actually stop you from being friends with anyone.â
âI know. But Iâm glad you were jealous. It means you care.â
âIâve always cared.â
You kissed himâslow, certain, like youâd been waiting for this moment through every video, every shared laugh, every almost-touch.
And when he kissed you back, it wasnât awkward or new. It felt like coming home.
Later that night, Arthur posted a new vlog. It had nothing to do with relationships, yet the comments lit up:
âIs it just me or is Arthur glowing???â âTell me he finally got with Y/N or I riot.â âThat âI like youâ better be on camera somewhere.â
You scrolled through the replies, smirking as you cuddled closer to him on the couch. âFans know.â
Arthur didnât look up from his phone. âLet them guess. Builds suspense.â
You snorted. âYouâre such a tease.â
He grinned. âBut only for you.â
