The Thing is a sci-fi horror film first released in theaters on June 25, 1982. When it first released the movie was a complete flop with both critics and moviegoers. This is due in part to the release of the much more positive alien movie E.T., which was released a month before.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is a slasher-horror film first released in theaters on November 9, 1984. The franchise consists of nine films, a tv series, twelve novels, and multiple comics.
Day 31: Farm

The Missouri Monster, or “Momo,” is a cryptid first reported in 1971 in Louisiana, Missouri. The creature is said to have a pumpkin sized head and emit a putrid smell.

Mothman is a cryptid first reported in 1966 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The town holds an annual Mothman Festival, an event held every third weekend in September.
Day 29: Uh-Oh

The Dover Demon is a cryptid first reported in 1977 in Dover, Massachusetts. The cryptid has made appearances in various comic books, such as Proof and The Prehapanauts.
Day 28: Camping

The Wendigo is a cryptid reported to live around the East Coast forests of Canada, the Great Plains region of the USA, and the Great Lakes region of the USA and Canada. The creature is created when a human resorts to cannibalism, transforming them into the never satiated cryptid.
Day 27: Snack

The Jackalope is a cryptid first reported in 1829 in Douglas, Wyoming. A group of Jackalopes are called a flaggerdoot.
Day 26: Ego

The Unicorn is a cryptid reported to live across Europe, Africa, and Asia. This creature is the national animal of Scotland.
Day 25: Tempting

The Pope Lick Monster is a cryptid reported to live beneath the Pope Lick Train Trestle in Louisville, Kentucky. Some accounts state that the creature uses hypnosis to lure its victims onto the trestle.
Note: A common misconception is that the Pope Lick Trestle is abandoned. In actuality, it is connected to one of Louisville’s most used railways and as many as 25 heavy freight trains cross it daily. Walking along this trestle puts you at risk of either getting hit by a train or falling off its 90-foot drop. I don’t love being super serious but this trestle has claimed over a dozen lives so I feel this needs to be said: DO NOT GO SEEKING THE POPE LICK MONSTER, IT WILL PUT YOU IN SERIOUS DANGER.
Day 24: Devil

The Jersey Devil is a cryptid said to have been born in 1735 in Pine Barrens, New Jersey. The cryptid has been the namesake for two hockey teams, the “Jersey Devils” and the “New Jersey Devils.”
Day 23: Booger

The Woodbooger is a cryptid first reported to live in Norton, Virginia. The cryptid is often rumored to carry off young children like the boogy man.
Day 22: Heist

The Hidebehind is a cryptid first reported in 1939 in the woods of the United States. There is no true physical description of the cryptid as no one has actually seen the creature and lived to tell the tale.
Day 21: Bad Dog

El Chupacabra is a cryptid first reported in 1995 in Puerto Rico. Despite their name translating to “goat-sucker,” the cryptid is known to feast on all types of farm animals.
Day 20: Bluff

This is a cryptid reported to live in the United States and seems to originate in Navajo culture. Many are reluctant to discuss this creature as it’s believed that even mentioning it’s name will draw it towards you.
Day 19: Ponytail

The Mossman is a cryptid first reported in 1978 in the coastal city of Boca Raton, Florida, near the Everglades. The creature is known to come out while the weather is murky and foggy.
Day 18: Scrape

Lizard People are cryptids first referenced in 1929 in Robert E. Howard’s story, “The Shadow Kingdom.” Their image has been linked to a multitude of conspiracy theories concerning politics, pop culture, and more.
Day 17: Salty

The Fiji Mermaid is a cryptid said to live near the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific. This cryptid was popularized by P.T. Barnum in his original Barnum’s American Museum.
Day 16: Fowl

The Cockatrice is a cryptid said to live in the village of Wherwell, Hampshire, England. This cryptid currently serves as the mascot for the series, “Good Mythical Morning.”
Day 15: Armadillo

The Glyptodont is a cryptid that used to live in the Americas during the Pliocene Epoch. It’s status as a cryptid is based on the fact that some people believe it may still exist to this day.
Day 14: Empty

The Fresno Nightcrawler is a cryptid first reported in 2007 in Fresno, California. Despite being a relatively new cryptid, the creature has gained a lot of popularity online.
Day 13: Kind

The Cactus Cat is a feline cryptid said to live in the Southwestern United States. This cryptid is known to get drunk off of fermented cactus juice.
Day 12: Forget

The Men in Black were first reported in 1947 after an alleged UFO sighting on Maury Island, Washington. While it’s unknown if they’re a government agency, demons, or aliens, one thing is for certain; they WILL make you keep quiet about any “unexplained anomalies.”
Day 11: Eagle

The Thunderbird is a cryptid reported to live in Pacific Northwest in North America. The creature is said to create thunder by flapping its wings and lightning by flashing its eyes.
Day 10: Crabby

The Sandwalker is a cryptid reported to live in the Middle East. The creature is nocturnal, sleeping under the sand during the day.
Day 9: Nest

The Hoop Snake is a cryptid first reported in 1784 in Stoke County, North Carolina. The creature rolls after its prey before straightening out at the last second, skewering its victim with its venomous tail.
Day 8: Match

“Nessie” is a cryptid first reported in 564 AD in Loch Ness of the Scottish Highlands. The creature would gain widespread attention after 1934, in which the famous “Surgeon’s Photograph” was published.
Day 7: Trip

The Snallygaster is a cryptid first reported in 1730 in the woods of Frederick County, Maryland. Despite being one of the oldest cryptids in Maryland, it didn’t really gain popularity until the 1920s.
Day 6: Bouquet

The Kraken is a cryptid first reported in 1700 off the coast of Norway. The legend of the kraken is very prominent in sailor’s lore, mythos, and pop culture as a whole.
