Danny Fenton, Bernard Dowd, Kon-El, Stephanie Brown, and Tam Fox appear in a warehouse surrounded by demons.
Kon didn't hesitate to throw the first punch and the rest of the abductees were quick to follow suit. Fortunately, or unfortunately, the demons fell apart rather easily with is great for defeating them but not so great for trying to capture one to find out why they were summoned in the first place.
Once all the demons were gone they began talking amongst themselves to figure out what they all had in common, which it turned out they were all dating different versions of Tim Drake.
Danny asked the group who knew about the "feathers" thing and everyone raised thier hand. Okay, so they all knew. That should make things easier.
Bernard tried calling Tim but it only rang once, to which Danny reminded him that this world's Tim might not know who he is or even have the same number. Spooky then pulled out a flip phone with an ominous glowing green screen and made a call.
Tim could be heard on the other line asking him if he was okay and why he was using the emergency phone. Danny explained what he could and Tim promised to find a way to get to him. They said thier goodbyes and loves yous before hanging up.
Danny held up his phone, "Interdimentional phone calls, courtesy of my mad scientist parents." He then had to explain it wouldn't work for them because his phone was keyed into the dimension he came from and his Tim was using it to track them down, so even if he did have the means to recalibrate the signal it would be a bad idea right now.
The others weren't too happy with this but they understood.
They opened the door to the warehouse only to discover they were in a freaking desert. Crap. Out of the five of them only two could fly and none of them had enough supplies on them to travel the desert on foot but they couldn't stay here. Who knew how long it would take for his Tim to track them down. Flying was thier best bet but Danny, being the oldest would have to take two.
Danny shot his love a text warning him about the desert and to be prepared for that if it should be necessary. He got a text back a moment later acknowledging it and worrying over him. He felt so loved.
Now it was time to talk to the others and figure out a plan of action.
Rip Tim Drake (from this text post)
Bats on Christmas (where are they?)
Dick: with the titans, has been pleasantly buzzed since 8 am. Phone has been off since midnight. Ate his weight in Christmas dinner and candy. Will meet each of his siblings one on one every day after (Jason and him get shitfaced on new years) but currently his head is on Donna’s lap and his legs are on Roy’s and he’s in a constant state of almost sleepy bliss (no one is dead shush)
Jason: binging Xmas movies him and mom used to watch at his apartment. Alfred sent him a full spread (listen in my country we do turkey and fix ins for Xmas idk what Americans do on Xmas) and he’s just been enjoying a quiet day in a nice apartment (bc I refuse to acknowledge or accept anyone being ok with Jay not having a nice warm apartment. If Dick Gave him a safe house he bought with mob money or he actually kept his drug lord money idc he has a very pretty apartment idcidc)
Tim: with Steph and Bernard, they’re shit talking him to bond, him and dick will meet and exchange presents the day after Xmas and he’s panicking bc he completely forgot to buy dick a gift so the three of them are at the mall while Tim gets increasingly worried
Damian: mad he’s not with Dick, at the Kent’s instead. Got the most presents bc all his siblings gave him stuff and both Dick and Bruce bought way too much stuff
Bruce: doesn’t do anything for Xmas and hasn’t since Jason died. His mom was Jewish so until the kids it just wasn’t a good time for him (for obvious reasons) and now his kids don’t really come home so he had a very peaceful night in and unlike literally any other time Christmas is surprisingly quiet in Gotham.
Steph: has collected a bunch of embarrassing Tim photos and is showing and telling Bernard info Tim wouldn’t let be known on his death bed while Tim is panicking over dicks gift. She spent Xmas eve with her mom so now she’s just chilling bc she already bought Dick, Cass, Damian and Tim gifts so she’s safe.
Cass: with babs since her dad has to work they’re having a very small and quaint Xmas together but it’s nice and them
Alfred: actually goes to mass
everybody moved on, but i stayed there
Im catching up with Detective Comics and on issue #1047 ( released on 1/4/22) and the villain that tried to attack the mayor during Fear State is called Roy Dowd.
This is the second villain Bernard might be related to if you count Mighty Endowed! I can see Tim's hair getting gray lmao
holy shit you’re right
we’ve got two villains and a henchman so far, why do DC keep recycling names? it’s gonna make me have so many theories
bernard loves taking care of tim after his missions of saving gotham. he knows that tim’s always so stubborn in a self preservation type of deal, but he doesn’t care. if he can’t help him out in the field, he can help him at home.
bernard assists by first helping tim shed off his robin suit. he’s careful with his movements, not wanting to jostle the fragile thing beneath his fingertips. he was the last person to ever hurt him, and he didn’t want to ever be one of those people. so he takes his time helping him out of his clothes, allowing tim the space to say no at any moment.
he doesn’t.
so bernard slowly guides tim to the bathroom, cleaning his dirt covered hair with gentle fingers before washing off all the dried blood and debris that caught onto his achy skin. he loves how thorough he is, almost passing out in the tub before being softly shaken so he could keep his eyes open.
tim’s embarrassed to be treated so gently, unlike the roughness of the outside world, but he doesn’t vocalize it because he likes it. he likes being taken care of more than anything and he knows he shouldn’t get attached, but he can’t help it.
and after treating him like he was the most precious treasure on earth, bernard helps tim out of the bath and change into pajamas. tim requests wearing bernard’s clothes because it would make him feel safer, and bernard agrees happily.
but before they could sleep, tim needed to get bandaged up. bernard fished out his first aid kit that he bought immediately after finding out his boyfriend was robin and began to carefully wrap every scratch, cut, and bruise that needed to be compressed. he’s so attentive to what hurt and what didn’t, how each bandage was wrapped tight so there wasn’t a risk of infection or how the gauzes were placed so accurately that it caused a flare up in him.
tim feels like he’s gonna cry.
not because he hates this— oh no, far from it. it’s so intimate and sweet that it’s foreign to him. he’s never had anyone handle him with such kindness before. sure, there was bruce, but bruce wasn’t bernard. no one was.
he notices his choked up expression (of course he does, bernard notices everything) and he placed a gentle kiss as a reminder that he was still there and that he didn’t think any less of him for coming home half dead nearly every week.
after the bandages were done, bernard takes tim into his bed and lays him down. he intended to leave so he could sleep but he felt a gentle clutch at his wrist and a soft sob like voice rip through the air.
“please. stay.”
and how could bernard deny a request like that? he just nods, pressing a benign kiss to tim’s forehead to ensure that he’d stay. sliding into the place next to him, he doesn’t comment about the way tim immediately clings to him and keeps a tight grip on his shirt, almost acting as a lifeline of sorts.
he needs bernard to stay grounded.
and bernard needs him to stay alive.
