Magpies are my favourite bird (kingfishers and rosellas are close behind), hell I even named myself Corvid because of them but my favourite type of Magpie is the Australian Magpie which isn’t even a Corvid, but a butcherbird, so I believe they should be called fakepie’s from now on

That's a super interesting subject you brought up though 👀
Turns out a simple way to tell if most songbirds are corvids (with the exception of Rooks and Grey Crows) is the presence of ‘nasal bristles’ on the bird’s upper bill (basically the small feathers on the top beak). Australian Magpies, Grackles, and Butcherbirds look quite similar to corvids, but do not have this plumage! (and you can tell their beak shape is a bit straighter and more triangular)
And you’re right, Australian Magpies (or fakepies hehe) are *super* closely related to butcherbirds (though they are still classified as a different genus)
And lastly, I leave you with a Bonus Fun Fact: all corvids and songbirds are thought to have originated in Australia! So ALL magpies are technically australian >:]

They’re in the same order as hummingbirds and, in some positions, you can see the resemblance
But like… a hummingbird that’s cosplaying as a falcon.
Sleek. Efficient. Aerodynamic. Perfectly optimized.
Also they like to sleep in chimneys, hence the name, and when they perch they become very very flat
They also like to sleep in groups
Anyway 10/10 weird little beast. Love these little flat fuck hummingbird falcons

Pink Robin Bird
The pink robin is a small passerine bird native to southeastern Australia.
Its natural habitats are cool temperate forests of far southeastern Australia.
Like many brightly coloured robins it is sexually dimorphic.
Measuring 5.3 in in length, the robin has a small, thin, black bill, and dark brown eyes and legs.
The male has a distinctive white forehead spot and pink breast, with grey-black upperparts, wings and tail. The belly is white.
Its range is the forests of southern Victoria and neighbouring parts of South Australia and New South Wales, and Tasmania.
