Anafenza relies on an innate ability to shield herself and her allies from harm, as well as a wellspring of aether to summon a large blade to do battle with. With five turns of practice tapping into this potential, she claims she has a better grasp and control over her powers, but in truth she’s aware that she’s barely scratching the surface of the curse she now bears. Still, her powers are strongest when she is under duress emotionally, tapping into the extra power this affords her to strengthen her resolve and defensive magicks. While she had originally been training with a short sword and shield, since the events that resulted in her being cursed she’s found it difficult to wield them with any degree of comfort or practice, an oddity considering her natural ability to master nearly any skill or task she is presented with (owed to her Echo).

ANY LASTING INJURIES FROM COMBAT? —

Anafenza bears a vine-like pattern of scales that winds up the left side of her body. When her curse becomes more active, or when she fully taps into her powers, she will complain that the mark burns her. After years of use, the pattern now stretches from her neckline, down her side, and down to her left knee; it’s also begun to branch out more, as if the scales threaten to wrap around her entire body now. Despite recognizing this, she continues to use the abilities she’s gained, hoping to still protect her friends.
