"Are they?" She scoffed shaking her head. "I can assure you my personal owl is looked after much better by my house elf. "Well obviously I am charming and beautiful so people will not think of my owl, but some people need all the help they can get. So making a good first impression matters."

"Are They?" She Scoffed Shaking Her Head. "I Can Assure You My Personal Owl Is Looked After Much Better

"The post owls are well looked after." Well-looked after enough, anyways. They certainly had more muscle mass. "I get that, sure. But once someone meets you, it's not like they'll spend all their time comparing you to whatever owl brought them a letter."

"I care. I'd much rather receive a letter from an owl that looks well looked after, than some raggedy ugly one." She didn't see what seemed to hard for him to understand, it was completely logical to her. "First impressions carry a lot of weight Mr. Avery."

“Who the fuck would care what your owl looks like?” Clyde asked, baffled. Was everyone else really this vain, or was it just Serra? The Minister didn’t care what his owls looked like, but the Minister was also an idiot. Merlin did she actually have a point? “Wouldn’t the letter itself leave more of an impression?”

"There are pretty ones and ugly ones. The person getting my letter sees the owl. Correct?" She paused for effect, not to let him answer, before she quickly continued. "Correct. So the owl is really the first impression someone gets of your letters."

“It’s an owl.” Clyde said, a bit confused as to what the difference between a common and non common owl would even be. “What’s it matter? It’s held dead animals in its talons why would mail make a difference?”

"You think I'd let some common owl touch my mail?" She scoffed shaking her head. "I'm not poor."

"I'll give you cats as a pet," he conceded with a nod. Loads of people had cats, they just weren't for him. "But why own an owl when the post office has one?"

"Well she doesn't look like one." Serra sneered, looking down at the ferret. "Normal would be a cat. Or an owl."

“Of course she’s a pet.” He said, offended. Better a ferret than a frog, for fucks sake. What could a frog even do? Ferrets could do loads. “How am I the odd one here? I’m being very normal.”

"You cannot consider that a pet." She grimaced, her tone full of disgust. Some people had absolutely no manners, wandering through town with a ferrett no less. It was no wonder he was still unattached. "You're very odd. You know that?"

"Stop calling her a thing and maybe I will." Clyde didn't lift a single finger to stop Bonnie sniffing around Serra's feet. Several people would agree with Sera's opinion, and all those people were simply horrible. If the girl didn't like Bonnie then she would simply have to get over it.

Serra jumped back as the ferret made contact with her shoes, shrieking. "Get that thing off of me." She wasn't good with animals, they had too much fur and it got everywhere. And she had a bad experience with a cat once. "I don't like anything with more than two legs. It's eyes are creepy too."

"She's not a thing, she's a ferret!" Clyde protested, not bothering to stop Bonnie from running over to sniff at Serra's shoes. There was absolutely nothing wrong with ferrets. Bonnie had all her shots and was the most well-behaved affectionate little thing. Why would Serra hate her? "What have you got against her, then?"

"Don't bring that thing anywhere near me." She grimaced, not bothering to hide the disgust that was so obviously noticable in both her tone and her expression.

Clyde enjoyed many different things about life, chief among them spending time with Bonnie, his pet ferret. He'd always loved ferrets; they were smart, affectionate, and amusing creatures. Great for distracting young children while their shitty parents fought in the other room. ... Not like he'd know, or anything. Bonnie wasn't his first ferret and she certainly wouldn't be his last. She was the first that truly loved taking walks however.

"Why are you gawking?" He asked as Bonnie ran circles around his feet, tangling her leash. "It's like you've never seen a ferret before."
