long family line of manipulators

i made his cutiemark a queen chess piece inspired by something i read in a fic
fic is Over to You by crimsonseekers (it's a Prowslatator fic where they board the LL (I've been obsessed for this fic and reread it at least 10 times already))
Cozy Glow as a character frustrates me. Moreover, how we never even sniffed in the direction of a redemption arc for her. (Outside of the shared one with Tirek and Chrysalis in S9 that lasted a whole entire 3 minutes). We never get to see her backstory, learn about her family, and we don’t see any motivation for her actions other than simply wanting more power. We see some other villains who do the same throughout the series, but as far as we aware, cozy glow is just a little girl. Literally just a filly. And she never gets a redemption, or help, or learns a valuable lesson.
She is a kid that hates for the sake of hating until eventually she is turned to stone. I can see from one perspective that this was intentional: having a character that is just bad to be bad can be a refreshing break in the well-built stereotype throughout this show that everyone and anyone can be redeemed. But also. She’s a kid. I don’t like it. I would even argue that that throwing a 10 year old into a horrible, vile, dungeon meant for the most vile criminals and beasts, and then turning her to stone, is inherently immoral. But that’s just me.
I’ve read around about theories that Cozy Glow isn’t actually a filly, and is instead some bigger more-ancient evil being trapped in a filly’s body, or just looking like one. When we first met her character, this is also what I thought. All things considered, she totally could be! In which case, I would probably like the way her story ended a lot more. But in canon, we don’t really get anything that hints this is true. She is a cunning and manipulative foal, and her cutie mark is a chess piece. It tracks. She is kind of just evil because she wants to be, and this little kid gets sent to a horrible prison, and then turned to stone
This is actually spectacular art?? I'm obssesed
"To be honest, I see these three as a family, and I tried to draw them in the Equestria Girls style. I imagined Chrysalis as a goth mom, Cozy as a bratty little schoolgirl who always gets her way, and Tirek as a metalhead dad. Hope you enjoy the drawing!"
Apple Swimming event at the Summer Harvest Parade & Fair!
Azure and Cog tried their best, Dusk went full Jaws and stole apples from under others, Golden Feather flagrantly cheated by creating new Apples from nothing, Night stayed out of the sun, Litter got dragged away by her own confused dogs, and Vitae had a nice conversation with that sweet little filly they rescued from the Chessmaster's schemes the other day!
Nobody even knew Crown was also there until after the fact.
I didn't miss a week, this just took longer than normal to finish. I'm not used to big ensemble pieces.
As for me, out of the whole three, Cozy could get redemption. Like, she's a damn child! Okay, if she was the same age as mane six, then it would be okay. But no! What did our all-understanding and forgiving heroes do when a child stole all the magic because she misunderstood the meaning of friendship? Would they have found the reason for her behavior? Put her on the right track? Was she even sent to a correctional center or some other similar place? No, what kind of nonsense is this? Let's send the kid to Tartarus, where one of the most dangerous enemies of Equestria is located! And it's very strange. As for me, Cozy committed less evil in season 8 than the same Starlight, who enslaved an entire village, brainwashed them all, and then tried to destroy the current timeline, which could translate to total horror. Just, can someone explain to me the reason why a child who still has a place to grow up was imprisoned in a stone, and an adult dictator was given a chance to improve? It's just weird. It's a weird prioritization of who can improve and who can't.
First time trying to draw Cozy Glow!
ID in alt text and under the cut
[Start ID] Cozy Glow from My Little Pony. A salmon colored pegasus pony sitting on her hind legs. Xe wears a yellow bow in xyr blue curly hair. It's looking down at a doll of Twilight Sparkle. One of his hoofs is raised as if to stomp on it. [End ID]
Before watching the FiM finale, part of me really wanted me to see a twist in the end where Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Chrysalis are on the verge of being totally defeated, but the friendship they ironically made along the way protects them from being totally blasted (protecting them in a "friendship shield"), then they go "wait, what is this?! We don't need friendship!! We need to destroy Twilight Sparkle and her pathetic friends!!".
They revert back to their aggression and try to fight again, the good guys attempt to fire back, then the three get defensive towards one another (thus reminding themselves how much they mean to each other), friendship protects them again, and the cycle repeats multiple times.
The three villains go through all five stages of grief and eventually accept that friendship is the only thing protecting them.
Then, for their horrible actions, they receive the worst punishment of all:
being domesticated by society.
(Think that would've been better?)
