So today I began making the bullet accessories for Amara! Would have started sooner but I got a new job and crazy things along with it 😅. Tips/advice is very, very welcome- I don’t make my own patterns very often and the last one I made, the sharp corners pinched pretty bad when I flipped it and it wasn’t the intended look, even if it actually worked out in favour of the design—

I might make a test out of scraps I have lying around or an old tshirt or something

Visible Mending

Introduction:

Visible mending is a decorative way to fix up an item. Instead of trying to make your mend as invisible as possible, the idea is to make it part of the garment's design.

Visual mending is not a single technique: it's more of a mindset. If you've got an item you love, it deserves to be mended, and if you're going to put that love into stitches, why not show them off?

That being said, there are some specific techniques that are popular with visible menders. Let's take a look!

Sashiko:

Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery that is used to both decorate and reinforce fabric. In visible mending, sashiko is often used to cover up holes with patches or to reinforce thinning fabric. This technique uses a variation on the running stitch.

Embroidery:

Regular embroidery is also a popular technique to accentuate your mends. Check out my embroidery 101 post to learn how to get started. You can embroider patches, or use embroidery to hide or accentuate any stitches you've made to fix holes. Embroidery's also a great way to cover up stains.

Patches:

There are many ways to add patches to a garment. My tutorial on patches is a good place to start if you want to make custom-shaped patches to sew on top of your fabric. You can also sew your patch on the inside of your garment and have it peek out from beneath the hole you're trying to fix. Fun ideas for this are lace or superheroes.

Darning:

Darning is a technique used to repair holes in fabric by using running stitches to weave extra fabric over the hole as to fill it up again. While traditionally darning is done in an invisible way by using the same colour of thread as your fabric, you can also use contrasting colours to accentuate your fix. Check out this written tutorial on darning by TheSpruceCrafts.

Conclusion:

Visible mending is a creative way to fix up your clothes and give them some personality at the same time.

You should be proud of the fact that you took the time and learned the necessary skills needed to mend your clothes! Show off what you did!

A fun side effect of wearing these obvious mends is that people will notice them. They'll remember your fixes the next time they're faced with a hole in their wardrobe, and it will make them more likely to try it for themselves.

What people think why i became a bookbinder: Oh she wants to explore her artistic horizon with those pretty leather bound books of hers. She even gives them out as gifts to her friends. It most likely helps her with anxiety or maybe she just wanted a more special costume made notebook.

Why I actually became a bookbinder: I just illegally downloaded and printed out several of my favourite fanfics and books and started binding them into books cuz I love reading them but looking at screens for too long gives me headaches.

È appena stata rilasciata la versione 1.0 di Craft, il nuovo CMS di Pixel and Tonic. Ecco come installarlo:

Scaricare l’ultima versione di CRAFT da http://buildwithcraft.com ;

scompattare il pacchetto;

aprire il file Craft/craft/config/db.php con un text editor:

mettere su ‘server’ il nome del server del database;

mettere su ‘user’ il nome dell’user MySQL;

mettere su ‘password’ la password dell’user MySQL;

mettere su ‘database’ il nome del database.

Salvare il file db.php;

posizionare la cartella Craft/craft nella root del nostro sito web (nel livello più alto di public_html);

posizionare il contenuto della cartella Craft/public in public_html;

rinominare il file htaccess in .htaccess;

cancellare il file web.config;

settare i permessi di craft/storage a 777;

andare su miosito.com/admin dove miosito.com è l’indirizzo del vostro sito web;

se tutto è stato configurato bene, dovreste vedere l’installer di Craft:

create l’account di amministratore:

settate le impostazioni del sito:

My first hand made cosplay 🥹

Sooooo, a few months ago, in like march, there was a convention where I live and I kinda forgot to post my cosplay anywhere... 🙃🙃🙃

Anyway, like I've said, it's the first cosplay I've made myself ! It took me around two weeks of works and it's made with cardboards and foam(for the blaster) !

It fells apart a bit the first time I wore it, but I'm really proud of it and I've managed to make it more practical for the second day of the convention !

Oh, and I choose G1 Bumblebee mostly because I thought he would be the easiest to do. I want to try to do a Jazz and Sunstreaker cosplay one day(still G1 design, 'cause they're the less complicated) !
