you can't help but squeal and cover your face with your hands, face beginning to burn.
"what?" he says, but he can barely even get the word out as he laughs, pretending to act perplexed.
"you did it." you spread out your fingers to peak through them, staring at his hands as he pulls out of the drive way
"you're crazy," he tries to tell you seriously, eyes flitting to the rearview mirror then to yours before switching the gear from reverse to drive to pull out of the driveway. he nudges his head in your direction. "pay attention to the road or something. didn't even do anything."
you can only huff at his words.
it's only when the car pulls up to the parking lot of the grocery store does he feel your eyes boring into him again. he has to bite the inside of his cheek to stop himself from smiling as he looks around to find an open slot before placing his palm onto the top of the wheel and rotates it counterclockwise with ease.
he can hear you giggle as he resets the wheel, the leather gliding smoothly across his palm. he can only shake his head in disbelief.
"you did it again!" you shout in excitement.
"something's wrong with you," he laughs out loud, the car rumbling beneath you guys before turning off the engine and leaving you in the car so you don't see that stupid grin growing on his face. he nearly loses all composure when you catch up to him, latching onto his arm and looking up.
"pretty damn cool if you ask me," you compliment. "and hot."
all he can do is ruffle your hair, trying to distract you from the burning he feels on the tips of his ears. "you're lucky you're so cute."

Dante, who refuses to indulge himself in what it feels like to love, because the act of loving makes him disgusted.
Dante, who isn't disgusted at the idea of loving, who desperately wants to love freely.
Dante, who is disgusted with himself, because he could never be worthy of your love, your touch, your smile, your grace. Not after how many he's failed.
Dante, who's convinced that if you stay near him, history will repeat itself and he'll only lose another person that he loves more than life itself.
Dante, who keeps you at arms length to keep you alive.
Dante, who still can't help himself from rushing to your side to protect you anytime he needs to, but will always brush it off as just his job.
Dante, who refuses to let himself acknowledge his own emotions, let alone act on them.
Dante, who'll probably never truly admit how much you mean to him, how hopelessly he's fallen for you.
Dante, who will protect you and keep you safe from the shadows because he just knows that he doesn't deserve to walk beside you.
Dante, who hates himself for who he is, who he was born as, and has no plans of changing it.
Dante, who won't dare to give himself the full extent of human pleasures, because he could never forgive himself if he did.
Dante, who truly, wholeheartedly, and genuinely believes, that who he is and what he does, makes him subhuman.

I've seen a lot of posts saying that the Sparda boys are living heaters, but I feel like that doesn't quite make sense. No, I raise you. I think they run cold, hear me out.
I know that Makai/the demon world has multiple biomes, but we know at least one of them, the one that we play through in the game, is the fire hell. It would stand to reason that the Sparda boys would have a lower internal temperature and or be cold blooded to compensate for how damn hot it is. Also, their demon forms appear very reptilian. Of course, things work different in the demon world, but it could be safe to assume, that like reptiles, they could be cold blooded, which would mean in a cooler environment (like earth) they would be a lot colder. This is backed up by the fact that you almost always see the Sparda boys wearing their big ass coats. Nero even double layers a hoodie with his coat in dmc4, and they all keep their coats on regardless of season. In dmc5, Nero has a shirt and a sweater on underneath the coat.
Maybe I'm crazy, maybe I'm overthinking it, but I think the Sparda boys are quite icy in the human world. And maybe I'm just biased since I like the cold better, but I feel like I'm onto something.
