You couldn’t stop twiddling your thumbs in wait, gnawing on your lip even more while you watched the quinjet hover over the landing pad just outside of the Avengers facility. Through the tall glass windows of the building, you watched from above as the blades of the flying copter settled to a stop and the Avengers finally exited the vehicle: first Tony, then Steve, and then the rest of them.

Tony decided for you to stay back at the base last minute. Just like he did the last time… And the time after that.

It seemed useless for you to even be an Avenger now, waiting behind for them to complete their mission while you sat dressed up in your own generic Avengers training suit. 

You came to the base after Clint found you in one of his solo missions. He was badly injured, and you used your supernatural abilities to heal his wounds. The Avengers recruited you in little to no time afterwards. And with no place you had called home before, it was only a matter of months before you made a family out of the heroes who took you in.

The sudden whoosh passed your ear, and you finally turned as Dr. Strange entered the room through his portal, letting it disappear quickly behind him.

“Stephen,” you sighed in relief as he approached you.
