โ ๏ธ spoilers after the cut โ ๏ธ
it was so cute and good, and the references were funny lmao !!
"batman's a fascist๐คฌ๐ !!" - george lopez
and personally, I've been found xolo maridueรฑa attractive, my mom watched cobra kai the minute she realized it was a karate kid spin-off/story continuation, so he was already a household name/face for me, so I was already super glad to see him take on the role of jaime reyes and knew he would do well.
also-also-also, it was amazing to see his character be brought to life because I remember being tiny and having the fattest crush on jaime after watching justice league vs. teen titans, so I felt the way I felt then, now, all over again๐. also, once again, the representation?! *french kiss*๐ spectacular. they were right when they said it was practically the black panther for latinos lmfao.
also, once again, I found myself deeply relating to the main character, his job/life struggles and the way he was feeling all of that pressure coming down on him so fast from all of these outlying forces,,, yeah๐ฅฒ.
unlike me, though, his family was his support system. and I so deeply loved that for him and watching his bond/connection with his family on screen was so heartwarming and refreshing (especially for dc lmao we know how they be, traumatizing their characters๐), and then basically adopting jenny kord๐ญ๐.
lord, and when the dad, alberto, died...I felt that in my chest bro, I was crying, like, milagro screaming out for her mom, dude...
๐...like truly...
also, miss susan sarandon, hello ?!? I know she was evil, but as usual, she ate down๐ ๐ฝ. if you know me, you know I will root for speed racer's mom no matter what role she's in, like, susan did that fr, she plays evil so damn well, I almost hated her๐ญ.
but yeah, all in all, super cute and fun movie, I loved it a lot, and I definitely can't wait for the dceu to expand on jaime and his family and superhero life, especially knowing he's basically the start of the whole dceu reboot thing. james gunn, do my boy right or I swear to god, I'll re-write and re-cast the entire dceu myself and do it better. that's a threat and a promise๐ฅฐ๐ซต๐ฝ.
anyways, jaime reyes will be added to my list or something like that soon, and when I do that, I'll happily take requests for him cuz wheeew...! fine ass man๐ป๐ฅดโจ๏ธ๐.
I think it's kind of sad that I can't bring myself to care about new stuff in the MCU anymore.
It's not about superhero-fatigue or whatever other things people are suggesting may be the cause, though. I feel like the reason I and many other people are starting to overlook new stuff and not care is because the people making those movies and stuff basically just... stopped caring about it themselves.
They stopped really putting effort into it, and it shows. There are a couple of outliers, like Moon Knight, but for every Moon Knight that comes out, there are three Loki series, or Mobius movies. Y'know?
It's become less and less rewarding and less and less fun to watch. Just cash-grabs, rather than actual stories with substance.
And I feel like this is easy to notice when you think about how Invincible and The Boys is super popular despite the idea of 'Superhero fatigue'. The difference between DC/Marvel and The Boys/Invincible? (Besides the violence, obviously.) is that 'The Boys' and 'Invincible' actually have time, effort, and love put into them. While the DCEU and the MCU are both basically being milked to death by the same people who tried to copyright 'Dรญa de los Muertos' after they made the movie Coco.
...But hey, at least we still have the MCU before Ragnarok (+Black Panther) to enjoy, right? We also have all the animated DC and Marvel content, as well as all the comics.
