I finally finished drawing this Jellyfish art piece!
First sub set of Leviathans!!
Depths, 100% the horrors of the deep
(Pardon the sketchy sketch.)
Horrifically huge. Darker blues, blacks, purples, even reds. Nearly no yellow. Teal or deep green accents are common. Longest and heaviest. Often has blubber. Rarely needs to eat. Most bioluminescent scales.
Naming patterns: Deep sea creatures/places, features of the ocean floor. Jellyfish, fish, squid/octopi, ect
Sea dragon fantribe((??) Honestly its gone wildly off the rails an i adore it)
Leviathans
Have a 'Cape' of thick scale/flipper like arm flap, off of a 3rd arm type appendage. Sometimes they have spines/sails/ armored plates. The cape helps them stay cool on land and be hidden from above. Scales are more skin like, a tight knit of small circular scales on blubber.
Largest lineage (wof tribe equivalent). Has several queens, some classify them as entirely separate lines.
Communication is through whale like song and flashing scales, not unlike sign language. Whale song is difficult to use on land and WILDLY loud. Also only really meant for long distances.
When 'talking' in lumen (flashing light sign language) its polite to swim at face to face height. Otherwise ur being rude no matter your size. On land this can translate to flying to be face to face height or laying down for the same effect.
How about something original for once, eh?Â
Today's theme was "deep". Abyssal zones are simultaneously the scariest and most fascinating places on Earth. I wouldn't be surprised if like the next day they find a Metroid or something down there.Â
Speaking of, I was inspired by this amazing track from AM2R. Â
Man I rarely do this style of shading, that's something I definitely wanna improve on ;-;
Drew the Viper Dogfish as an infusion with a cat lol
Idk I just think it’s whole detachable mouth is really interesting, though to make it more cat-like I thought maybe it’s fins puff up when it’s like threatened to make it look larger, like how cats arch their backs.
May or may not draw this thing again, will keep looking for fish with weird mouths tho
Bonus Image wow :3:
Idk about y’all but valentines memes have been my favorite part of the holiday since I was an inappropriately young child on the internet
So I made some cephalopod themed ones for your enjoyment <3
These puns are ones that did not make the cut for our actual Valentine’s Day cards shown in the last image
Purchase them at squidfacts.bigcartel.com <3
Have a jellyfish I drew to test out my new pen tab on my phone •w•

My first time using tumblr in a VERY! long time. Here is a quick sketch of some minor sea god, I hope you enjoy.
A squid type thing I guess? Idk.
Shipwrecks of the Caribbean. #
Memo below
He is one of the deep divers. They are divers who lost their life in the sea and stuck there.
His range of activities is very wide, and he can be seen from the Twilight zone(200~1000m) to the Hadal zone(6000~11000m), he often went to the Challenger Deep just for fun.
There is no sunlight in the deep sea, and the small light on his chest can only provide a limited field of vision, so his fingers become longer than those of normal human, and his hearing becomes particularly sensitive. Most of the time, he relies on touch and hearing(echolocation) to perceive his surrounding.
He also goes to the Sunlight zone (0~200m) but not often(and most of the time is at night), his eyes are sensitive to light.
what’s the lore behind your little gore pim? is he like… a scuba diver? plus his lizard eye looks SWAG as HELL please share more
thank you! also erm basically there was some kind of critter war and now Pim (and probably others) live in the deep sea, and Pim is incredibly isolated and alone <3
and ig at some point his underwater home implodes while he's gone so now he has 2 survive or something
stoplight loosejaw

CHAPTER IV // ORPHAN SPIRIT
The fortune slip in your hand is heavy, even if it bends to the slightest breeze.
Mt. Yogou overlooks the rest of Narukami Island as if it were nothing but an insignificant speck. The buildings down below are tiny, the people tinier. You stretch your hand out into the horizon and grasp the distant Inazuma City and hold it in the palm of your head. How perfectly it fits, you muse. If only the same could be said for myself.
High up on the mountaintop, past the torii gates that welcome you into the realm of the divine, you fooled yourself into thinking the gods might hear out your plight. The dark ink painted on by elaborate brushstrokes echoes the same premonition it always has: great misfortune.
You sigh and consider what to do next. Last month, it was purchasing an omamori, but your luck remained as lackluster as ever. What should you try next?

CHAPTER II // WROUGHT FROM THE SEABEDÂ
Your earliest memories are not of collecting chirping crickets during the warm Inazuman summers, hearing ghost stories about trickster tanuki turned to stone in Chinju Forest, nor playing ohajiki late into the evening with the neighborhood children until your mom called you in for supper.
What you can remember, however, is painful enough that you sometimes wish you couldn’t.
Coarse sand rubbing your skin raw. Seawater filling your nostrils, your lungs, your soul. Ocean waves crashing down, manipulating your limp body to and fro as if it were a rag doll. Even when you were on solid ground, you had no energy to lift yourself. So you laid there and waited for whatever to claim you first — the ocean’s waves or death. You had no preference between the two. All you wished for was that whichever it’d be, it would come fast and be done with.
There is no fate worse than an eternal wait.
