New Attire

Dhawan!Doctor x Reader

Summary - The Doctor wants to show The Reader something he found, but you are too distracted by his new item of clothing.

Warnings - None that I know of (let me know if I missed something)

Word Count - 961

A/n - Gender Neutral Reader. Not Requested. Just another little thought that I had. I hope that you enjoy it.

--------------------------------------------------------------

The Doctor sent you a message in the middle of the night for you to wake up to. You had to persuade him into this new change. Usually, The Doctor would barge into your room in the middle of the night and drag you out of bed in order to show you the thing that excited him. But you were growing so tired in the middle of adventures that you had to change from the previous routine for your safety.

The Doctor’s message was a rambling maze of information about a new discovery in space and how much The Doctor missed you. It was sweet reading The Doctor’s love and care for you, even though you had only been asleep and away from him for about eight hours. Waking up to his little (or sometimes quite extensive) messages were always a joy to wake up to.

You got dressed and ready and headed toward the main library where The Doctor asked to meet you. Though, you briefly stopped by The TARDIS’s main kitchen and made a heavily caffeinated drink and some breakfast.

When you entered the library, you saw The Doctor roaming around a couple of tables that were completely covered with research papers, astronomical charts, and stacks of books. He was clearly ecstatic. Before he even saw you, The Doctor was jumping up and down and smiling widely whenever the weight of this new astronomical discovery would ping around his brain again.

You loved seeing him like this. Just The Doctor being himself. Completely in his element and no longer stressed by random enemies or The Master trying to destroy him again. Though one thing about the image before you had caught you off guard.

The Doctor was wearing a burgundy sleeveless sweater over his lilac button-down shirt. It looked cute on him, but you had never seen him in a sweater ever, let alone a sleeveless pullover. It seemed like something he would wear, but also this extra garment somehow made him look so much less Human, which you thought would have been a big feat.

“Y/n! There you are! I’ve been waiting for you for ages!” The Doctor was practically shouting with excitement. He bounded to you and gently placed his palm against the small of your back as he lead you to the table that he had set up with all of his research throughout the night. The Doctor, instead of actively talking about his discovery, was ranting about how he wished that you had been awake when he first came across the phenomenon. One thing you never expected about The Doctor is that he would be so romantic. It was a very Doctor-esc brand of romanticism, but he was incredibly romantic nevertheless. He was always wishing to experience new things and firsts with you. It was adorable. And you wished that you could focus on his affection, but, in your just-woken-up brain, you could help but focus on the outfit he wore today.

“What are you wearing?” You jokingly questioned as you sat on a nearby sofa after the previous conversation came to an end.

“A sleeveless sweater. Why?” The Doctor looked down at his outfit and ran a self-conscious hand down his chest.

“Since when did you wear pullovers? Especially sleeveless ones.”

“I wear them all the time actually. You just haven’t seen when I get cold.”

“You get cold!” You exclaimed, dramatically and sarcastically. The Doctor in this regeneration was constantly chilly. He was always asking his TARDIS to light a fire in fireplaces, always curled up in blankets, always hugging you and cuddling you for your warmth. Surprisingly though, he had never added a new layer of clothing to his outfit of choice, until today.

“Do you not like it?” The Doctor asked tentatively. Oh no! He was getting sad and insecure because of your questioning. That’s not what your intent was in asking about his sweater.

“I like it, I just wasn’t expecting you to wear something like that.” You tried to reassure him and explain, but The Doctor had already made up his mind about your opinion.

“You hate it.” The Doctor concluded in his anxiously rambling mind and slouched in sadness.

“Doctor.”

“I knew that you would hate it. I was stupid to think that you would like it.”

“Doctor.”

“Why did I even pull this stupid thing out of my wardrobe? I’m so stupid sometimes!”

“Doctor. Come here!” You reached your hands out to The Doctor and made a child-like grabbing motion with them. The Doctor slumped over to where you were now sitting and delicately, hesitantly, grasped your hands with his. The Doctor wouldn’t look you in the eye, but he made sure to tap the toes of his shoes against yours (a little act of intimacy he would always perform, no matter where he was or how upset he was).

“You look cute.

“Are you sure that I don’t look stupid or dorky?” The Doctor swung your clasped hands back and forth anxiously.

“Dorky yes, but never stupid.” The Doctor groaned and tried to walk away but you pulled him back to stand in front of you.

“No, you look cute, Doctor!”

“Promise?” The Doctor finally ventured a peek up at your face, but it was brief and timid.

“I promise!” You placed many kisses on The Doctor’s knuckles causing the old Time Lord to look away flustered. Despite being in a relationship for a while now, you never failed to fluster The Doctor. Even though he didn’t always know how to respond, The Doctor was always grateful for your reassurance.

“Do you want to see what I found?” The Doctor asked in a hopeful tone, finally looking back at you with restored confidence.

“Absolutely, Doctor!”

An Afternoon With Tea And Books

Dhawan!Doctor x Reader

Summary - The Reader goes to find The Doctor in his private library as he often loses track of time when absorbed in a book.

Warnings - some suggestive material

Word Count - 1156

A/n - Gender Neutral Reader. Not Requested. I just wanted to write something small in order to get back into writing. I hope that you enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------

The Doctor had been isolating himself in his private library for hours now, resulting in you not seeing him all day. You didn’t think that he meant anything by it. He was probably just lost in his mind and the books he would be devouring. But you missed him and his presence. You wanted to see him. You needed to see him. In your mind, the two of you didn’t need to do anything special, you were happy to just cuddle and read beside The Doctor in his library. You didn’t need a wild adventure, even though The Doctor would be very happy to take you wherever you wanted. You could wait any longer for him to walk out of his study and ask about your day. You just needed to see him now. Half a day was too long to spend away from your Doctor.

So, you finally convinced yourself that you wouldn’t be bothering The Doctor too much and travelled through the halls of The TARDIS until you reached The Doctor’s study. You entered the room quietly, even though there was no need. The Doctor was still completely engrossed in the book he was reading and would not be distracted anytime soon. Then you entered The Doctor’s private kitchen in order to prepare two cups of tea (The Doctor’s was filled to the brim with sugar cubes) before finally making your way to where The Doctor was longing on the sofa of his private library.

“You’re up!” The Doctor exclaimed after doing a double take upon seeing you entering the room. You nodded contently. You were just happy to be in his presence again after a long day apart. You barely even noticed his frantic state.

“I promised to wake you up with breakfast in bed, though.” You tried, for The Doctor’s sake, to not make a disgusted face at the thought of The Doctor’s cooking, but you didn’t know if you were successful. The Doctor’s baking was out of this world, pun intended, but his cooking was less than to be desired.

“You can wake me up in bed another morning, Doctor.” You set down the two cups of tea on a small nearby table.

“But I wanted to greet you in the morning today. I have been lacking as a partner, lately, and I guess this just proves it doesn’t it?” The Doctor pouted and slouched against the couch.

“No, Doctor, it doesn’t. You are a perfect partner.” You brushed a bit of The Doctor’s hair that fell across his face.

“And you made me tea.” The Doctor whined, completely ignoring your statement and trying to avoid your affections in order to prove his point.

“With all of the sugar!” You chirped, recounting the alarming amount of sugar you dumped into The Doctor’s mug.

“See! You are better at this than I am. Are you sure that you wouldn’t rather have a relationship with a Human?”

“Absolutely not!” The Doctor sighed unconvinced. You grabbed The Doctor’s book, delicately because he once became very upset over your handling of a book, closed it, and placed it on the table by the cups. You then crawled onto The Doctor’s lap and placed your hands on either side of his face. The Doctor wanted to continue to pout but he couldn’t ignore your presence even if he tried. So, he placed his hands on your thighs and ran his fingers over the side seams of your trousers every so often.

“I don’t want anyone else. I only want you. Understand?” The Doctor nodded into your hands, though he still appeared to have a bit of sadness locked in the corners of his eyes.

“Good. Now no pouting, Doctor. I’m not going anywhere.” You sent The Doctor a cheeky wink, causing him to fluster, while handing him his cup of sugary tea.

“Well, what time is it now? Earth time, I mean. So, I can make it up to you.” The Doctor moaned a hearty hum upon sipping his tea. Given how you were straddling him, his pleased hum rumbled through your core, making your want for him so much needier and more intense.

“Around three in the afternoon.” You only responded when The Doctor looked up from his tea to your eyes, his observation of you finally brought you out of all of the fantasy rushing through your brain.

“What!” The Doctor wanted to jump up from his seat, but both you and his rather full cup of tea were not allowing him that escape.

“Doctor?”

“I’ve been ignoring you all day because of a stupid book!” The Doctor took quite a large gulp of tea, solely so he would be able to gesture with his hands wildly again.

“I thought that you really wanted to read that book?”

“Well, yes, but you are far more interesting and important.” You smiled. The Doctor was adorable, that was obvious. Though you would argue that he was even more adorable when he was pouting about not spending enough time with you. At least you weren’t the only needy one in this relationship.

“You can just make up for it by paying attention to me now.” The Doctor gulped, his eyes flicking back to yours nervously. His gaze then shifted down to your lips before quickly returning to your eyes. As if you didn’t notice.

“Gladly, but in what way?” The Doctor wasn’t desperate, he would only do anything if you were ready and consenting. So, he would follow your lead.

“Well, you really want to finish your book and we have two cooling cups of tea that we have to drink. Why don’t you read to me while we cuddle? Then we can think of something else to do later.”

“The book is in Gallifreyian.”

“As long as you are reading, I am sure that I will be entertained. Now shift over.” The Doctor awkwardly did so, allowing you to lay beside him on the couch, though he did almost spill his tea all over his chest.

The Doctor missed the weight of you on top of him, straddling him, but feeling you wrap yourself around his side and lay your head over his hearts was a close second if he were to categorise the best feelings in the Universe. The Doctor smiled at you and then placed a soft and overly sentimental kiss on your forehead before exchanging his cup of sugary tea for his book.

The Doctor asked if you were ready and once you told him that you were, he began to read. He was not concentrating on a single word he was saying, however. The Doctor was far too distracted by you to fully concentrate. Your body weight, your heat, your smell, just you and your presence beside him were too all-consuming to think straight. Thankfully, you couldn’t later question him on the content of the book because he would be completely clueless.

The Master’s Plan

Dhawan!Doctor x Reader

Summary - The Master, after becoming friends with you, is tired of seeing The Doctor and The Reader go around and around in oblivious circles. So, she puts it upon herself to get the two of you together.

Based On This Request -

image

Warnings - fake dating ish, trying to get The Doctor riled up(mostly The Master does this), mutual pining

Word Count - 3066

A/n - Gender Neutral Reader. I had a second idea for this request from my old Tumblr account, so I had to finish it. I hope that you enjoy it!

------------------------------------------------------------

The Master couldn’t believe that you and The Doctor weren’t together yet! She used to hate you. Not because you were The Doctor’s new companion, but because The Doctor actually seemed to be committed to you. But now she wished not only to be your friend but also to help get you and The Doctor together. Even after everything The Master and The Doctor had been through, and even after everything The Master and you had been through, all she wanted was to see her two friends happy.

Soon after The Master had first met you, she had tried to rip you away from The Doctor and break your trust in him. But you informed the disappointed Master that you already knew about The Doctor’s past. You knew about the Time War, how The Doctor hurt The Master, and all of his previous companions and relationships. The Doctor had told you that he had been alone for a long time since he last regenerated and chose to wait to travel with anyone instead of jumping right into another companionship. Then he met you. You hadn't told The Master the last bit, but when she complained that she had to wait for The Doctor to show himself after decades of hiding, The Doctor’s statement was corroborated.

Disappointedly, The Master let you go from that encounter without a scratch on you. But she would kidnap you often after the fact. In the beginning, she legitimately wanted to harm you to get to the Doctor, but now she actually enjoyed your company. Often the two of you would gossip about The Doctor. The Master would always burst out laughing when The Doctor would barge into the room where you were captured completely shocked and out of breath and with adrenaline in his eyes.

The Master had stopped kidnapping you a couple of months ago. You thought something was wrong, but you couldn’t alert The Doctor because he would think that you were conspiring with her, when in actuality, you just cared for the wellbeing of someone you considered your friend. But about a week later, you got your answer. The Master had planned a horrible scheme to destroy Earth and turn Humans into her own personal obedient army. Of course, The Doctor and you discovered her plan and stopped her. The Doctor then insisted that she come to live in The TARDIS with the two of you, so she could gain some much-needed respect for beings that she thought lesser than her.

The Doctor quickly regretted the situation he created. You and The Master got along too much for his liking. This arrangement was meant to be some sort of punishment, but The Master seemed to enjoy being stuck in a confined space with you. What The Doctor was unaware of was the fact that The Master just loved to gossip behind The Doctor’s back, and she enjoyed feeling young with you. Her feelings for you were completely platonic. And she was actually overjoyed by the fact that someone wanted to be her friend; let alone someone as kind as you wanted to be her friend.

The Doctor’s uncomfortableness over his presumption that The Master had feelings for you was shifted out of his main focus by something strange going on in The Universe. There was a sneaking suspicion growing and spreading throughout space. No one had any idea what was going on, but random people were just showing up dead randomly. Many galaxies had joined together to try and investigate the issue, but none of them could solve the problem. The Doctor, ever the good Samaritan, instantly tried to solve the mystery. The Doctor set you on library duty while he did some aerial scouting from the console room.

It was difficult finding the information The Doctor had requested, but with the help of The TARDIS, and absolutely no help from The Master, you did eventually find everything that would help The Doctor. You texted him as soon as you found everything. All you wanted to do was make him happy and make him proud of you.

The Doctor ran toward the TARDIS library as soon as he received your message. But he slowed down and walked into the library calmly, so as to seem as if he hadn’t just run there. He had to make you believe that he had absolutely no romantic feelings for you. He thought that he was being completely discreet, but The Master just thought that her old friend was being completely ridiculous.

The Doctor quickly walked up beside you, with a small bounce in his step, and placed his hand on your back. Then you exuberantly explained what you had found, and The Doctor seemed to like the information you were detailing for him.

“Oh, my stars! You are brilliant, Y/n! Absolutely fantastic! I could kiss you!” The Doctor jumped up and down and grabbed your shoulders excitedly.

“Then why don’t you?” You flirtily retorted. The Doctor immediately became flustered, removed his hands from your body and started mumbling and bumbling about. He was speaking so quickly, much faster than normal, and you could only make out some of the things he had said. You had heard “I should do that,” “No, no that would be too complicated,” and “I better be off.”

The Doctor quickly bumbled around the table, hitting it with his hip, and then headed toward the exit. You huffed, defeatedly, and went to pile up the books. Maybe you would give them to The Doctor in the console room, find him in the kitchen, or even stop by his office. But you would not get the opportunity to do any of those things. The Doctor zipped back into the library and collected the books from your grasp and ran back out of the room before you could utter a word.

With your task project now finished, you slumped back toward your room. You felt like crying or screaming in frustration. This wasn’t the first time you flirted with The Doctor, and he responded that way, but you thought that because he always flirts with you that you had a chance with him. Yet he always ran away from you. Maybe you completely misinterpreted his “flirty” comments? Maybe he was just being friendly?

“Woah, your thoughts are quite loud today, Y/n!”

“Can we not do this right now, Master?”

“Was The Doctor being a fool again?” You nodded solemnly at The Master leaning concededly against the wall of the hallway.

“Come to my room, darling. I’ll make you a drink.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“What am I doing wrong?” You paced around The Master’s black marble tiled lounge area, wildly gesturing with the half-drank glass of the boulevardier cocktail The Master made you.

“Absolutely nothing my dear. The Doctor is merely a spineless idiot!” The Renegade Time Lord spat before taking a sip of her own boulevardier cocktail.

“Master!” You were frustrated with The Doctor, but you would never have the same animosity The Master had for her Best Enemy.

“Sorry, but it’s true. At least in this instance. I have told you many times that The Doctor’s feelings for you are obvious, that’s why I began kidnapping you in the first place. We just have to make him snap!”

“I don’t want him to snap, I just want to be with him.” You slumped into the soft yet sophisticated chair across from where The Master was lounging.

“Well, I might have an idea as to make him admit his feelings … If you are up to it, that is …” The Master smirked at you, breathed in a puff from her cigar, sighed out the smoke, and then sent you a wink.

“What are you scheming, Master?”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Doctor scoured over the books you had found for him. You had left some notes that you thought would be useful, but The Doctor would be having a much more exciting time if you were beside him helping him. It was his fault as to why you weren’t beside him right now, he knew that. The Doctor was very aware of his intense feelings for you, and he was 99.9% positive that you liked him too, but so many things could go wrong if he admitted his feelings. Your friendship might become strained, he might have to watch you fall in love with someone else, or, worst of all, you might leave him!

The Doctor sighed in defeat. Against his better judgement, he walked toward your room with one of the books you had found in his hand. The Doctor needed you to help him. It was the only way to get him to focus on the task at hand and not all of the worst cases scenarios running amok in his brain.

However, no matter how many times The Doctor tried to walk to your room, The TARDIS lead him somewhere else. The Doctor was going to question his ship, but then he heard a scream erupt through the air of the ship.

The Doctor rushed through the halls of his TARDIS, trying to discover the cause of the noise. To his surprise, The Doctor walked in on you laughing hysterically on the ground and The Master above you, tickling you.

“What are the two of you doing?”

“Our little friend here dared accuse me of not being fun! So, I started a tickle fight, and, of course, I won! Isn’t that right, sweetheart?” The Master leaned down over you, entirely too close to your face for The Doctor’s comfort.

“Master, why don’t you help me with the engine? I spotted a bit of a hiccup that needed a bit of a look-over. We need my TARDIS to be in tip-top shape before we try to solve this mystery.”

“Can’t you do that yourself? Y/n and I still have half of a movie to finish.” The Master sneered at her old friend.

“No, I am pretty sure that I need your help with the engine.”

“I can help you, Doctor.” You chirped after sitting up on your elbows. Unbeknownst to you, The Master looked down at you seductively, causing The Doctor’s blood to boil.

“But what about our movie? The couple was just about to confess their feelings for each other!”

“We can finish it later, Master.”

“No, no, no, I need The Master’s help.”

“Fine, you buzzkill. I’ll help you. Don’t wait up for me, lovely. I expect that this is going to take a while.” The Doctor glared at The Master behind her back but dropped the glare as soon as his old friend turned back around to face him. You didn’t think that The Master saw The Doctor’s unadulterated jealous face, but you did. You didn’t want to hurt him, but that’s exactly what you did. All of this was an act. He was the one you loved. You didn’t want him to feel so much pain because of you. You were tempted to reveal the plan you and The Master came up with, but The Doctor swiftly left before you could admit anything.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Doctor stormed out of the room and marched toward the console room. All the while, The Master smirked. She was very proud that her plan was succeeding. Upon reaching the console move, The Doctor abruptly turned to face his old friend.

“What are you doing with Y/n?”

“Why? Jealous, Doctor?” The Master taunted, causing The Doctor to become flustered at the thought of his yet-to-be-voiced feelings.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The Doctor turned away and began fiddling with the TARDIS console.

“I am no idiot, Doctor. I know that the “hiccup in the engine” was a distraction to get me away from Y/n. Because you would rather have your precious little crush be all alone than be with me, your Best Enemy.”

“Just stay away from Y/n.” The Doctor huffed and rushed to his room, resolving to solve the mystery by himself.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Master did not stay away from you. Quite the opposite, actually. The Master hung around you more. But despite all the fake love being publicly displayed, you and your two alien roommates did solve the mysterious murders plaguing various galaxies and helped the civilizations living there.

As a post-adventure treat, The Doctor suggested for you and him to go to Lypitta. It was a beautiful planet known for its very scenic views, and its infamously poisonous itiia poul klailei tree, but The Doctor wasn’t there for that. He wanted to impress you and potentially romance you there.

To his dismay, though, The Master hadn’t left his TARDIS yet. The Doctor had allowed The Master to leave after the three of you saved all those galaxies, but she said that she wished to stay abroad for a bit longer. The Master even said that she enjoyed the company! The Doctor didn’t believe this. He knew that she was just trying to make him uncomfortable and angry with her flirting with you. She was constantly around you, touching you, looming too close to your face. The Doctor felt so defeated. He should be with you. He should be loving you and showering you in praise, but he was too late. The Master won you over and The Doctor stewed in sadness over the fact that he would soon be left alone once again.

Upon arriving on Lypitta, you briefly spoke to The Master alone before walking over to The Doctor. The Master went off on her own merry way and The Doctor almost seemed shocked that you wanted to be with him instead of his old friend. You asked The Doctor about the history and general environment of the planet, and he happily obliged in telling you everything he knew while the two of you walked around the planet. But eventually, the two of you fell into a bittersweet silence. You wanted to confess to The Doctor so badly, but you didn’t know how. And The Doctor wanted to ask you about your feelings, but he also didn’t know how to broach such a now awkward topic. So, the two of you continued to explore the planet in silence until The Doctor finally convinced himself to speak up.

“So, you and The Master then?”

“Doctor, it’s not like -” You instantly felt sadder than you were before. The Doctor looked so heartbroken.

“It’s fine. I haven’t been the most attentive, I can understand why you would move on. I just wish that it wasn’t with her. And I more so wish that I actually got the guts to say something before. Maybe it could be me holding you the way she does.” You had to tell The Doctor the truth now! You grabbed The Doctor by his shoulders and forced him to face you.

“Doctor, it’s a lie!”

“What is?”

“The Master and I, though it was mainly her idea, we thought that pretending to be close romantically would finally get you to confess your feelings for me out of jealous. I didn’t want to make you sad, though. I’m really sorry, Doctor. I should have just told you that I had feelings for you.” You dropped your hands and looked at your feet in regret. You hoped that this wouldn’t ruin everything between the two of you.

“You like me, Y/n?” You popped you head up to look at The Doctor when you heard his incredibly hopeful question.

“Yes, Doctor, I’ve liked you for a while.” The Doctor burst into a smile and quickly hugged you around the waist and spun you around in circles a couple of times.

“Are you serious?”

“Completely serious!” The Doctor started to laugh adorably and spin you around again.

“Doctor! Doctor, if you don’t stop, I’ll throw up!”

“Sorry! Sorry, I’m just so excited!” The Doctor dropped you back down onto the ground and cradled your face in his hands. He was so excited to be able to finally express his feelings for you openly.

“You could just kiss me instead?”

“Oh, well, I don’t want to impose …”

“Just kiss them, you idiot! Don’t make me devise another rom-com-esc scheme just to get you two to finally kiss!” The Master screamed from atop the hill, leaning against an itiia poul klailei tree and whittling from a twig she cut from a nearby branch. The Doctor quickly turned his attention back to you and gently caressed a thumb against your bottom lip.

“Are you okay with me kissing you?”

“Yes, Doctor, please kiss me!” You smiled giddily and bounced on the balls of your feet. The Doctor smiled back at you before leaning forward, close enough to where your noses brushed up against each other. The Doctor wanted to give you one last opportunity for you to turn away. When you didn’t move away and you brushed your nose against The Doctor’s, finally, The Doctor leaned into you and placed a soft, yet longing filled kiss on your lips.

The Master groaned in disgust at the sight and turned to look at the landscape of Lypitta. She was happy for the two of you, but she absolutely did not want to see you and The Doctor romantically entangled in any way. When she thought the two of you were finished publicly displaying your newfound affection, she turned around to talk to the two of you. However, when she did this, The Master saw the two of you still kissing, and it appeared that the kiss was growing more intense and handsy. The Master stalked toward the two of you and shouted to alert the both of you.

“So, do the two of you want to continue snogging in the middle of a field or maybe retreat to a bit of privacy?” You and The Doctor broke apart in shock but consigned to hold onto each other.

“Well, we can still explore Lypitta.” The Doctor stated, more because he wanted to show you this planet, and not out of concern for The Master’s wants.

“Please spare me your honeymoon phase. We can explore this planet at a later date when the two of you aren’t so glued together.” The Master began to walk back toward The Doctor’s TARDIS without waiting for a response.

“I thought you wanted to see us together, Master?” The Doctor snarkily shot back.

“Not like that, you idiot!”

Summary - The Doctor allows you to play your game, all the while planning an intricate and elaborate plan to win your heart.

Link to the second part of this trilogy - Scheming Timers

Warnings - slightly suggestive, very fluffy

------------------------------------------------------------

You were incredibly gifted in hiding from The Doctor, especially with The TARDIS’s help. But, of course, you didn’t really need The TARDIS’s help to hide. The Doctor had taught you how to hide from danger and monsters and rogue aliens well. He should have suspected that you would have used your newfound skill against him one day. He knew that this wasn’t a menacing act delivered by you, it was more of a tease. If you weren't so mad at him because of his timer-themed tantrum, The Doctor would have tried to persuade you into playing a game of sexy hide ‘n’ seek, that is, if he could ever gain the courage to ask you out on a date first. Or given the current circumstances, if he could find you within his labyrinthian ship and win back your affection.

The Doctor knew that this was a game to provoke something and you were winning. Every second that passed, The Doctor wished to admit so many hidden feelings to you. He also knew that he had to do something big to end this stalemate and regain your favour. The Doctor was currently sitting in his study, having just torn down his planning board dedicated to finding The Master. He made a copy of one of his favourite pictures of the two of you and nailed it to the centre of the cleared board. He prepared to plan out the best way to woo you, but he couldn’t help but become distracted by our beautiful face smiling at the camera. The Time Lord smiled sweetly at the memory.

The photo was taken by an alien couple that thought the two of you were the cutest couple they had ever seen, even though you both vehemently denied being together. Despite that, when the picture was being taken, you held onto The Doctor so tightly. You leaned against him with your whole body and your arm was wrapped around his shoulders, pulling him into you. The Doctor firmly kept his arm around your waist, but he resisted your pull completely. The Doctor noticed how your body felt against his, then, and he reconised the feelings that had been floating in his brain for some time. He leant back, almost a bit in shock, and stared in awe at your beautiful face. He couldn’t believe that it took him so long to notice how much you meant to him. That day, The Doctor knew that he was in love with you.

Your smile, in the photo and the memory, was infectious. The Doctor couldn’t stop looking at it! You were so excited and happy to be on that planet with him, exploring and existing in his world without fear or hesitation. Now that the doctor was looking at the picture more closely, he noticed something new. You could clearly see The Doctor looking longingly at your face, his eyes shining brightly with affection toward you. Looking back on it, that probably added to the alien couple’s assumption that the two of you were in love with each other, at least on The Doctor’s part. He mentally kicked himself for acting like a shy lovesick puppy, incapable of saying his feelings, but always following you around, instead of acting on his feelings, but he was determined to fix that now. The Doctor collected some strings and connected the dots between things you loved and things you and The Doctor shared together. He knew what he had to do to show that you should be with him.

The Doctor then went out on a little shopping adventure, coming back with items sold in bulk, hauling them toward his study. The Doctor told The TARDIS to keep you away from his private kitchen if you were to venture out. He did not think that you would break, but he wanted his surprise to not be spoiled in any way. True to her word, The TARDIS kept you away from The Doctor as he laid out his plan.

You were beginning to grow bored with your plan. You really cared for The Doctor, more than you had ever cared for anyone. You loved The Doctor. That was obvious now. Before the moment when you really first showed your feelings when the two of you almost kissed in his private kitchen, you had always suppressed your feelings for him. You were rerouting that action, now. Maybe if you had confessed your feelings sooner then you wouldn’t be alone in your room wallowing now.

You sat in the middle of your room, staring at a picture of you and The Doctor on a tourist planet. The picture that the alien couple that came up to the pair of you assumed that you were a couple had taken. Of course, both you and The Doctor denied their assumption. It killed you to hear him say that, but then you could clearly see in the picture how The Doctor looked at you adoringly, only adding to your confusion on whether or not The Doctor liked you. You wished that this stalemate would make The Doctor do something, but nothing had happened yet.

You recently asked The TARDIS to let you and The Doctor cross paths, but you could feel The TARDIS prohibiting and rearranging some of your adventures through her walls. You assumed that this was The Doctor not wanting to interact with you. Every moment since that fateful day when you started this stalemate was riddled with anxiety for you. You wondered if you were mistaken about shared feelings.

The Doctor was shy about his past, but you were able to wrangle out some of his stories. The weight of the other companions The Doctor had travelled with and loved ones of The Doctor plagued your mind. You would wake up early in the morning and cringe at the memory of the two of you almost kissing. Voices in your head screamed that The Doctor was uncomfortable by your actions, that you crossed the line and he only ever saw you as a friend, and now because of what you did, he would want you to leave his home, he would want you to leave his life. You knew that he was too kind and adorably awkward to ever ask you to leave, so you thought that it would be kinder to him to do it yourself.

You decided to go to the main kitchen, after multiple attempts to open your door which was somehow locked, in the hope to meet The Doctor and make some hot chocolate and maybe make some cupcakes, as well. You thought that this would prevent you from making a horrible mistake. However, your venture was halted, after The TARDIS finally let you out of your room, when you saw that a chocolate cupcake was placed outside your door, neatly settled inside a purple cupcake wrapper. You knelt down to pick up the dessert, inspecting it for any peculiarities. It appeared to be a normal Earth cupcake until you inspected the bottom of the wrapper. Lifting the cupcake above your head, you saw The Doctor’s handwriting spelling out the words ‘look to your left.’ When you did so, you saw an orderly row of cupcakes aligned along the centre of the hallway and curving around the corner of the hall, falling in line like tin soldiers.

You went back to your room to collect a couple of plates to carry and collect the cupcakes on your journey. You reached down and picked up each cupcake one by one. Like the first cupcake, each new baked good in the line had The Doctor’s handwriting on the bottom of the wrapper.

‘Please’

‘continue’

‘to’

‘follow’

‘the’

‘trail’

‘of’

‘cupcakes’

‘until’

‘you’

‘reach’

‘my’

‘private’

‘kitchen.’

There was a break in the row of cupcakes, but you could see it continuing down the hallway. In the middle of the break, there were a couple of large baking trays with Hersey’s chocolate Kisses, weirdly one of your’s and The Doctor’s favourite chocolates to share, spelling out the words, ‘I know that you are incredibly considerate, but you don’t have to collect all of the cupcakes. There are too many for you to carry.’ You felt conflicted leaving the treats, but the plates you were holding were already covered in cupcakes. And your arms were now becoming quite tired.

Once you reached The Doctor’s study, the door was wide open, the row of cupcakes continuing straight through the study and into the kitchen. You crept into the room slowly, unaware of what you were about to encounter. You rounded the corner, stopping briefly to look at and reminisce over where the two of you almost kissed for the first time, before seeing a smorgasbord of baking confections and a tower of baking timers, including one that looked surprisingly similar to the baking timer that your aunt had gifted you. The Doctor was standing bashfully amongst the food and objects, he kept looking for happiness in your eyes to reassure him. You were more in wonder because of everything before you, but you smiled brightly when you finally met his gaze.

“I bought you a replacement timer.” The Doctor turned around and picked up a timer before handing it to you, your hands brushing against his as he placed the item in your hands.

“Like the one your aunt bought you. I’m sorry for throwing your property into a supernova. I had no right to do so. Even if it did upset me greatly.” You smiled at his gift, but also at his ramblings. He had no right to be this adorable.

“About that, do you want to explain all of this?” You smirked cheekily, placing the timer down on a surprisingly free space on the table you stepped closer to The Doctor, who followed your movements and stepped even closer to you. You really wanted to know why The Doctor threw all of those timers away, why he was doing this now, and what he felt about that fateful day in this kitchen.

“I think you know, Y/n. You are the smartest person I know.” He tilted his head and smiled to hide his fear. He knew that he loved you, but he wondered if you felt the same way. He assumed that you did, but that could be a dangerous assumption if he was proven wrong.

“I want to hear you say it, Doctor.” His face fell a bit at the confrontation, but you stepped even closer to him and clasped his hands in yours, you gave his hands a reassuring squeeze. He looked down and smiled at your intertwined hands giving him the confidence to speak his mind.

“I love you, Y/n and I just want to be with you. I am so tired of this isolation; I want to be with you. You are the best person in my life.” With each statement, The Doctor moved closer to where his forehead was practically touching yours. He bumped his nose against yours before looking deep into your eyes to try and read your face, his eyes were large and pleading for you to take the news well. But you ripped your hands from his. The Doctor was about to apologise for being so forward and rude. But then you hugged him tighter than you had ever before. One of your hands went up and ran through his styled hair and the other gripped the soft, yet slightly scratchy, material of The Doctor’s sweater vest. The Doctor’s head instinctively fell to your shoulder.

“Oh, Doctor! I wish you had told me sooner! Think of what we could have been doing if we actually had the guts to tell each other how we actually felt!”

“How do you feel, Y/n?” He sounded so fearful, and you could feel him shaking in your arms.

“I love you, Doctor,” you whispered into his ear to make it more personal, “I have loved you since I met you. And I want nothing more than to be with you!” The Doctor finally hugged you back, tighter than you were hugging him, and he excitedly picked you up and spun around a couple of times with you safely in his arms. He quickly placed you back down on the ground and cupped your face with both of his hands and stared deeply into your eyes once again, his warm orbs glowing with love. He finally saw you returning his feelings, a couple of happy tears escaping both of your eyes. The Doctor wiped your tears away and lent forward to press a passionate kiss on your lips. The two of you moved seamlessly, clinging to each other. He tried to pull away, being a bit flustered, but you quickly placed a hand on the back of his neck in order to deepen the kiss.

The two of you stayed like this for a while before you both had to separate to catch your breath. The two of you giggled in flustered excitement when you caught each other’s gaze. You moved to hug The Doctor again; comfort washed over the both of you. The two of you were finally together. You kissed up his neck to his cheek until you reached The Doctor’s lips, causing the two of you to enter into another round of kissing until you broke apart again to breathe.

“Do you want to go somewhere more comfortable?” You eventually said, brushing a lingering tear from The Doctor’s face.

“Oh! I would love to!” The Doctor giggly started talking with his hands.

“There’s a planet I recently discovered that is completely made of trampolines! How exciting! And what a comfortable ground to walk on.” He was so happy to finally have you back in his life. Sure, you were never gone, but the isolation drove The Doctor insane, especially when he discovered that he loved you so deeply and he just wanted to share his life and love for adventure with you. He missed having you near him.

“Umm … Doctor, that’s not what I meant. Although that does sound fun, maybe later.” You tried to decline his offer politely, but you really were interested in adventuring with him, especially now with your budding relationship adding a new element to the dynamic.

“Oh, what did you me- OH! Oh! Well, yes, I completely agree with your statement. We should definitely move to somewhere more comfortable.” The Doctor quickly grabbed your hands and pulled you out of the kitchen, but not before you could grab a tray of brownies. He continued to pull you through The TARDIS until you reached his room, the two of you giggled as you both excitedly committed to making up for all of the lost time spent hiding feelings for the other. There would be no more hiding now, no more secretive looks or almost moments. There would be only exciting adventures, intimate moments shared and a lot of baking.

------------------------------------------------------------

You or The Doctor hadn’t been able to relax for a couple of weeks now. And the two of you definitely weren’t able to keep up with the habit you started of baking together. You and The Doctor had been too busy chasing The Master around the Universe thanks to her latest scheme. Everything erupted on an alien planet The Master was planning to sacrifice hypnotised native peoples of the planet she was on to the unknown partner in her plan. Unfortunately, you and The Doctor were unable to capture The Master or discover her scheme partner, but the pair of you were able to save the planet and its inhabitants. You insisted on making something to celebrate your victory, but The Doctor didn’t seem as keen. He had been keeping a secret from you and he feared that he was going to break at any moment.

After much convincing, The Doctor eventually added a personal kitchen to your room schematic. He was very reluctant in doing this, he quite enjoyed watching you roam around the main kitchen when he was meant to be helping you. No matter what you were making, you would float around the space as if you owned it, dancing from cabinet to cabinet, waving spatulas and wooden spoons like magic wands.

To The Doctor, you looked like an angel when you commanded that space so naturally. He could watch you all day. That is until you yelled at him to help you with whatever you were planning. The Doctor feared that if you had a private kitchen, you would no longer ask him to help you, meaning he would lose getting to see you so carefree and happy. Seeing you like this, calmed him in return.

Thankfully for The Doctor, you did not exclude him in your post-adventure relaxation in your private kitchen, but then he remembered how he acted after your last kitchen excursion and how incredibly forward he was. These memories filled him with the hope that you felt that same way as he did, but The Doctor was also filled with insecurity. What is he made a fool of himself? What if you were, somehow, corrupted by The Master and all of this was a cruel trick? The Doctor didn’t want to be alone anymore. He had wanted to be with you for a long time, but what if he misinterpreted everything and he would make you so uncomfortable that he caused you to leave? That’s the opposite of what The Doctor wanted.

The only thing that The Doctor was really certain of, other than his feelings for you, was that he hated baking timers. The baking timer had interrupted his kiss you, and now they were the bane of his existence. The Doctor was filled with so many insecurities about you, so he made sure to eliminate his fear of being interrupted when confessing his feelings to you by destroying the thing that had the possibility of doing that. Of course, this possessed a difficulty when baking, but The Doctor would always lie and say that he set the timer. He would diligently do tons of maths in his head to keep up with what he was hiding, and, so far, you hadn’t noticed. But he was getting anxious that the thought that you were getting close to discovering what he had done.

“Ugh! Where is that bloody timer? I know that I have one!” You yelled as you rummaged through every cabinet and pantry and shelf in your kitchen.

“Are you sure you have one?” The Doctor glared, looking at the mess you were creating with disdain while leaning up against the wall that connected your kitchen to your bedroom. He hated mess. Which wasn’t great considering that he often had trouble taking care of his own space. The mess was making him more anxious and grumpier than he already was.

“Yes! My aunt, that I don’t particularly like because of her politics, gave it to me! I used to keep it in the main kitchen -” You cut yourself off, quickly jumping up and turning to face The Doctor, making the noise you always made when a lightbulb went off in your head.

“Maybe I left it in there! Be right back!!!” When you ran past The Doctor toward the main kitchen, you poked his side a couple of times, trying to make him, at least, crack a smile. He only folded in on himself, blocking your pokes with crossed arms. You slumped a bit upon seeing The Doctor’s reaction but continued your journey to find the baking timer.

The Doctor had been unusually grumpy for the past couple of weeks, you assumed that it was because of The Master’s antics. However, part of your brain dared to venture into thinking that The Doctor’s upset nature could possibly have to do with the kiss the two of you almost shared, but you elected to ignore that thought. The Doctor hadn't asked you to leave, he hadn't stopped showing you the Universe, and he always baked with you. You thought yourself foolish in thinking that an alien as old as The Doctor could ever care for you. That all of the lingering touches and longing glances were just The Doctor’s misunderstanding of Human customs. He was just being a friend, a very kind and close friend. To you, this conclusion was easier to swallow than the idea of growing old without him. No matter how much you wanted to stay with The Doctor romantically, that, unfortunately, seemed improbable now because of your habit of being too forward with your feelings for The Doctor.

“It’s not in there either!” The Doctor heard you yell from the main kitchen. He couldn’t take this much longer. He hated lying to you, he hated keeping secrets from you. With most people, he was used to it. The Doctor was so old that it was easy to skip over or change a few details and no one could possibly catch him in the act. When he did this to you; however, it broke his hearts. He could picture your hurt and disappointed face when you discovered the truth, so he vowed to tell you the truth whenever possible. Now, knowing that he was breaking his vow, The Doctor’s actions made his skin crawl with disgust over his lie.

You returned to your room, finally drawing The Doctor out of his self-deprecating thoughts. He loved the cute little look you made when you were puzzled by something. You stood with one hip jutted out, both of your hands placed on your lower back and your mouth agape, your tongue resting on the back of your top row of teeth. He stared at you, with glowing eyes and a warm smile you didn’t see, too busy thinking until you jumped up again, a new possibility entering your mind.

“Wait, there was a timer in your private kitchen, right?! We can use that one!”

‘Oh, that thing,’ The Doctor thought while his face darkened when he remembered that day with you, ‘the reason why all of this started. That blasted, scheming timer ruined my chances with you.’

The Doctor dragged his feet begrudgingly as you pulled him by the arm to his private kitchen. The TARDIS purposefully made the trip between the two rooms last longer, giving The Doctor ample time to think about what he had done.

“It’s not here either!” You whined as you ended your search through all of the cabinets and cupboards in the room.

“Y/n, there’s something I need to tell you.” The Doctor's voice was very serious. His tone was laced with sadness and fear. He tapped his foot anxiously, chewing on his thumbnail while trying to avoid your eyes. Seeing him in a state immediately worried you, you ran over to him and began rattling off a series of questions to get to the bottom of why he was so upset.

“What?! What is it? Are you okay? Is it The Master? Are your cuts not healing properly? Are they infected? Are you dying?”

“Woah, woah, woah, it’s nothing like that at all!” The Doctor shifted himself into a more carefree position, placing his hands on your shoulders to ground you. You were relieved that it was nothing too serious, despite The Doctor’s previous attitude. But you questioned him again about what was going on and why he had been acting so strange as of late.

“I know what happened to the timers.” The Doctor’s voice was quiet and filled with guilt. Even though his hands were still placed on your shoulders, he could not maintain eye contact, resolving to stare at your shoes. You weren’t suspecting that to be the subject of his anxiety, but you pressed further, seeing in his guilty mannerisms that he wasn’t finished confessing things that he had been hiding. The Doctor turned away from you and folded into himself again, a hand was placed over his mouth as if he were trying to prevent the words from spilling out.

“I threw them all into a supernova.” The Doctor eventually mumbled into his hand, but you heard what he had said, despite his attempt to hide the information from you.

“You did what?” You marched up to him. You forced your alien host to face you, turning him strongly and abruptly with a strength The Doctor was not suspecting. His eyes were wide in a pleading fashion, and his right hand covered most of his face, in shock that he actually told you what he did.

“But my aunt bought me that timer, Doctor!”

“One,” The Doctor tried to reason his way out of this situation, accompanied with expressive hand movements, even though he could tell by your face that you were not in the mood for whatever explanation he managed to come up with, “you said that you disagree with her politics and two: that’s not the timer that annoyed me. I just threw that one, and every other timer in this ship, into the supernova for precautionary reasons.” The Doctor cringed upon realizing that he revealed too much in an attempt to gain the upper hand in this little tiff, but it seemed like you didn’t notice. Maybe he was in the clear.

“It was still a gift, Doctor! What am I going to do when she asks - ” You halted your yelling once the final part of The Doctor’s sentence registered in your brain.

“What do you mean by the timer that annoyed you? And what precautionary reasons would have to exist for you to throw all of the timers we own into a supernova!” His face lit up slightly when you said “we” when talking about the timers that were formerly housed in The TARDIS. But now was not the time to fantasise about the future the two of you could have together, as The Doctor often did, you were upset and The Doctor would have to fix that.

“Ummm … no reason at all …” Admittedly, once those words slipped out of his mouth, he knew that that would not satisfy his curiosity. So he decided to do what any sane person would do when being glared at by a determined curious person who he couldn’t say no to, The Doctor ran away.

“Doctor!” You yelled at him, rounding the corner in pursuit.

“You tell me what’s going on right now!” The TARDIS decided to aid you in the chase, looping the corridor The Doctor was running down until it crossed your path, causing you to run right into him, toppling him over. The TARDIS let out a series of joyous beeps when you caught The Time Lord.

“Ow! Oi! What are you helping them for?! I’m your pilot!” The Doctor retaliated toward the ceiling of his ship.

“Oh please.” You condescended. The Doctor hadn’t noticed that you moved to straddle his torso, keeping him in place beneath you, until you spoke. He couldn’t help but stare at where your crotch rested on his stomach. He couldn’t believe that you were actually this close to him, and on top of him, no less!

“We all know that the TARDIS does all of the piloting.” His eyes grew wide and a heat began to spread over his cheeks, but The Doctor tried to focus on a response to your accusation instead of his flusteredness. But The Time Lord was unable to form said hypothetical response because the TARDIS beeped again. You couldn’t understand her, but The Doctor heard her snarky comment loud and clear.

“Just like how Y/n has full control over your hearts, Doctor.” The Doctor’s ship snipped at The Doctor telepathically. His flustered nature grew to an embarrassing level; his hands were shaking and beads of sweat began to develop on his forehead. If he wasn’t still trapped beneath you, The Doctor would have attempted to run away again. Eventually, he was able to utter more than just a string of ‘umms’ and gasps of shock, though.

“I don’t see the need for both of you to gang up against me!”

“So the TARDIS is on my side! Good ol’Sexy! I knew she liked me!” The TARDIS let out a reassuring set of beeps even you could understand. She did like you and there was no way The Doctor was getting away from this situation without an explanation. You continued, but this time you directly spoke to The Doctor beneath you.

“So, Time Lord, do you want to tell me why you threw all of the timers into a supernova or am I going to have to force the truth out of you?” While speaking, you leaned over The Doctor, one hand on either side of his face as you stared deeply into his ever-widening eyes. The Doctor visibly gulped before stuttering out a hushed and breathy question.

“How - how are you going to do to force me?” You smirked, leaning down closer to his face until your noses were touching.

“I’m going to leave you alone until you break.” Before The Doctor could protest, you were already off of him and walking down the hall, back to your room.

Baking Hijinks

Summary - After a week of The Doctor avoiding the reader, the reader convinces The Doctor to bake with them, almost causing unearthed feelings to reveal themselves.

------------------------------------------------------------

Everything that could have gone wrong seemingly did. You felt as if there was nothing you could do to stop the chaos for a brief moment. The Master had resurfaced a couple of adventures ago and had made The Doctor’s life miserable. Which subsequently made your life miserable. The Doctor grew more and more distressed by the various tedious, teasing clues The Master had been leaving for him, like breadcrumbs, about her current scheme. All these little distractions pulled The Doctor further away from you.

This obviously serious distraction of The Master and her evil plans had caused every adventure you and The Doctor would go on to turn out horribly wrong. No one died, thankfully, but many were injured, including you and The Doctor. He had obsessively looked after you were injured, all the while not taking care of himself. Once you had recovered, however, The Doctor avoided you. You were beginning to hate The Master for the way she caused The Doctor to act. All you wanted was to be with The Doctor and to help him with whatever he was feeling right now. But because of what The Master did and the state of fear she put The Doctor in, you were unable to do as you wished.

Because you missed The Doctor so much, you would often replay the last moment you really interacted with each other over and over again in your head. The Doctor carried had you to the TARDIS medbay after you were injured in The Master’s plan, even though you knew you could walk there unaided, but he insisted on helping in this way. While on the walk to the medbay, he explained that you could have internal injuries and that walking would worsen your state. You didn’t think your injuries were that bad, but The Doctor said that he wasn’t going to take any chances. You asked about him and if it was worth it to possibly worsen his injuries in order to stop yours from getting worse. The Doctor didn’t acknowledge your questions, as you had arrived in the medbay and The Doctor instantly became preoccupied with tending to your wounds.

The Doctor didn’t help himself, at least, not that you observed. He carried you to your bedroom and told you to rest and call him if you needed him. He also informed you that he would be setting up an alarm on his TARDIS to notify him if your condition got worse. For the next few days, The Doctor looked after you obsessively, barely ever leaving your side and doing everything for you. The Doctor didn’t seem to be injured at a distance or at a quick glance, but you assumed that he was just hiding his injuries for your sake. He also refused to bring up the instances that lead up to you getting hurt in a vain attempt to spare you any further strife. He was only focused on the improvement of your health.

But as soon as you were mostly healed except for a few scabs, that’s when The Doctor began to avoid you. Whenever he would accidentally run into you, clear that he was trying to use the labyrinthian halls of The TARDIS in order to run away from you, his face would be washed with guilt and he would wring his hand looking everywhere except your face. He would talk quickly and without emotion, obviously wanting to escape as soon as possible.

You had received injuries with The Doctor before, but this was the most extreme instance, probably explaining why The Doctor was hiding from you. You assumed that he was fearful that you would want to leave and if he avoided your presence, you could never ask him to take you home. You might have yelled at him for his childish possessiveness if it wasn't for the fact that over the days you were left isolated, you discovered how desperately you wanted his attention. Or, to put it more bluntly, you discovered that the comforting feelings you always felt when around The Doctor were romantic in origin.

The Doctor obviously felt the same, otherwise, he would have let you leave, but knowing a mutual attraction made the lack of interaction between the two of you even more heartbreaking. You wanted to shake him. Scream about how much you loved him, but you couldn’t. Firstly, you couldn’t find him or get him to properly interact with you. Secondly, you had no idea how to tell the alien your romantic feelings for him.

The current unfortunate event of the week was the TARDIS malfunctioning. You were unaware if this was because of something The Doctor had done or if she was just having a tantrum or something else entirely. The Doctor said that he would explain later when you questioned him while he was stuck, or was rather hiding, under the TARDIS console while rummaging through her wires. You were obviously dissatisfied with this answer minimizing but left him to his fixing.

You tried to accept this new set-up, but the ship you called your home was always surprising you. Rooms moved around randomly, compared to the strategic, labyrinthian map the TARDIS organised rooms by. You wouldn’t be surprised if she had a colour-coded schematic, but at the moment, nothing made sense. When you wanted to go to the library, you ended up in the trampoline room. You tried to find The Doctor’s study to try and get him to talk to you again, you arrived at the swimming pool. You tried to go to the console room but ended up walking in a circle and wound up back in your room. You stayed there for a while, mentally exhausted, so you decided to get some reading and creative work done. At one point, out of boredom, you even started dancing Risky Business style to loud music.

Though these small distractions offered you some amount of serotonin, you quickly grew bored again. You tried to plead with The TARDIS to actually let you arrive at your desired destination. You hadn’t eaten all day except for a few sugary snacks you had snuck into your room, so your growling stomach requested a substantial meal, or maybe some baked goods because who doesn’t love baked confectionaries? Thankfully, the path you were taking seemed normal. You took a calming breath before reaching the door you hoped was the kitchen. Though, you were initially disappointed when you opened the door and saw stacks of books and papers and walls made of bookshelves and a detailed web of all of The Master’s clues and previous schemes.

You were in The Doctor’s study and were about to turn and leave until you saw a sleeping Doctor hunched over his desk. He looked awful, with dark circles under his eyes, his hands stained with ink and covered in scabbed cuts from where he was injured on your last adventure. Again, you contemplated leaving, allowing The Doctor to sleep because he did so rarely, but light in an adjacent room beyond a small purple couch on the opposite side of the study caught your eye. You crept into the room, cringing whenever the floorboards would creak. The new room was a kitchen. Of course, The Doctor would have a kitchen attached to his private study. He loved his homemade sweets. You would have to suggest to The Doctor that you should have a kitchen attached to your bedroom once the two of you begin talking regularly again.

Like the study being a smaller, more personal version of the main TARDIS library, the kitchen was a quaint, very Doctor, version of the larger main kitchen. There was a small four-person table with a light purple rug beneath it. Cabinets that matched the wood of the table, the cabinets were labelled with what should have been in them, but nothing was in its place, and there was a small, abstract, purple crystalline chandelier hanging from the ceiling and giving a gentle, atmospheric light to the room.

You snuck around the kitchen, doing your best to be quiet. You thought it would be best to carry your supplies in two trips to minimise noise, one for all of the ingredients and the other for all of the supplies. But being the clumsy klutz you were, you tripped over the edge of the carpet beneath the table causing the pans, bowls and utensils you were holding to fly out of your hands and land on the kitchen floor with a momentous crash. You cursed yourself, crouching quickly to pick up everything, hoping that you did not wake up The Doctor.

“What?! What‘s going on?! Who’s invading us?!”The Doctor ran into the kitchen with his sonic in one hand and a large spoon in the other. His usually slicked back and perfectly combed hair was standing straight up, his sweater vest was wrinkled, and one of his paint legs was rolled and scrunched up, exposing his purple sock. The Doctor’s matching purple tie was also loose, hanging sleepily around his neck. Frankly, he looked like a hilarious mess.

“No one is invading us. Doctor, everything is fine.” You tried to sound calm for The Doctor’s sake, but there was the remains of a giggle lurking in your throat.

“Then what the hell happened?!” He waved the spoon and sonic around dramatically.

“Oh,” you finally stood up and moved the things you had dropped back to the table, “I just dropped some pans and baking utensils. Are you okay? You seem stressed.”

“Why are you baking?” Of course, he ignored your question, he was much too selfless for his own good.

“Just to relax. Also, I’m quite hungry, so that helps. I want to make some fettuccine alfredo, but I can’t get over my intense craving for brownies and the moment. I’m sorry that I’m in your study kitchen, by the way. I tried to get to the main kitchen, but The TARDIS had other ideas.” The Doctor still looked shocked, his chocolate eyes wide with fear as he breathed heavily.

“Do you want to help me?” You hoped that he would say yes so you two could finally move on from this awkward stalemate the past week had been. You just wanted to be close to him again. Maybe you could inch closer to confessing your feelings, too.

The Doctor agreed, but still avoided eye contact and remained mostly silent. You both moved around the small space comfortably, both clad in dorky aprons The TARDIS probably picked out for you. The Doctor seemed to open up the more as the two of you mixed ingredients. Both of you decided that scraping the idea of an actual meal was a brilliant idea and instead the two of you decided to make chocolate chunk brownies and chocolate chip cookies. You suggested that the two of you should eat said sweets with ice cream.

You mixed one batter mix and The Doctor mixed the other, all in silence. You poured the brownie batter into the baking tin while The Doctor meticulously tried to separate the cookie dough into equal portions. His brows were furrowed, and he bit his lip in intense concentration. You couldn’t help but smile at this innocent look he pulled off so well. He was thousands of years old, he overthrew evil tyrants and saved galaxies, but he looked like a toddler trying to perfect a drawing to hang on the fridge. You saw this as your opportunity to try and return your friendship to the playfulness that was present before this terrible week started, or, at least, end this awful silence. You stuck a finger into the brownie batter and dolloped the unbaked mix on The Doctor’s nose, causing him to shriek and lose his concentration on the cookies. You burst into a fit of loud giggles, doubling over. The Doctor only glared.

“Y/n! Why did you do that?” He went to wipe away the batter, but you grabbed his hands to stop him, forcing him to face you.

“Why not do that? It's funny.” He disagreed and, again, tried to move to clean his face, but you kept him in his place. You stared at each other for a while, a plan began growing in your mind like a beautiful and tempting flower. The Doctor’s confusion showed brightly in The Doctor’s eyes. You suddenly leaned forward, still holding The Doctor so he couldn’t back away, and licked a dollop of brownie batter off of his face. You smirked at his flabbergasted expression, his jaw dropping and his warm brown eyes growing wide in shock again.

Leaving the adorable alien to comprehend what just happened, you turned to collect the baking trays and place them in the oven. You continued to ignore The Doctor’s shock, putting all the food supplies away and collecting the dirty utensils and placing them in the sink to wash later. With everything finally put away, you went to clean the things in the sink. After a few more minutes of silence, you felt The Doctor’s hands hesitantly wrap around your waist and his chin rest on your shoulder.

“To answer your question from earlier, I'm not okay. And I’m very stressed and worried. But this has cheered me up greatly.”

“Do you want to talk about anything?” You turned your head slightly to look at him and to your surprise, The Doctor didn’t look away. His eyes were big and sad but filled with care for you, almost like he couldn’t believe that you were a part of his life.

“Not now, but maybe later.”

“Okay, but just know that I’m here whenever you need me.”

“I know, and I’m sorry for being so distant. I was afraid that you would want to leave. That’s the opposite of what I want, Y/n.” You dried your hands and turned in his arms to face him. He stiffened a bit, not used to being this close to you, but you squeezed his arms reassuringly.

“I assumed that that’s how you felt, I’ve been wanting to reassure you this entire time. I don’t want to leave, Doctor. I don’t know what I would be without you.” You lent your head against him, hoping he would understand your insinuation.

“Do you really not want to leave? You were hurt because I got us into a mess. I was meant to protect you.” Both of your noses bumped against each other, but you couldn’t tell if he did it on purpose.

“I’m positive that I don’t want to leave. I trust you, Doctor. I always have and I always will. And despite how much you want to, you can’t protect me in every situation. What matters is that you helped me when I needed it. Now I want to help you because you definitely need it right now.” Your noses bumped again and again, and The Doctor ghosted his hands up your body until his hands were cradling your face.

“I’m starting to care about you very deeply, Y/n.”

“And I’m starting to care about you very deeply, Doctor.” He shifted closer, his lips just hovering over yours. When you thought that this agonising suspense would finally be over and your greatest wish would finally be realised, the timer indicating that the brownies and cookies were done baking went off, causing the two of you to separate. You briefly looked to The Doctor, who looked away, flustered and running a nervous hand through his hair. You ended up quickly running from the situation and flusteredly fumbled while retrieving the baked goods and the ice cream to ignore your embarrassment about your almost moment with The Doctor.

You hoped that soon enough you would have another moment with him, but in the meantime, you would just have to settle for sharing this snack with him, and revelling in the fact that you were no longer sneaking around The TARDIS avoiding each other. This would be enough, for now, to see his smile, the warmth of his eyes, and to see him forget about all of his stresses while he was with you. This would be enough.

------------------------------------------------------------

The Doctor tracked The Master down to a small cottage in middle England and he could not believe what he had discovered. He really could not believe his eyes. Out of everything they had experienced together for thousands of years, this was the most shocking thing The Master had ever accomplished. How did The Master end up with you and he didn’t?

Of course, The Doctor had no idea who you were, but according to the scans he performed, they proved that you were Human. The Master hated Humans, The Doctor loved them more than his own species! He should be with you, not her! The Doctor had to see what his Best Enemy was planning and save you from her.

The Doctor landed his TARDIS outside of the protective field he detected and began to creep toward the cottage. Along the way, he was investigating his surroundings, searching for anything suspicious or deadly. To his surprise, he didn’t really find anything that would alarm him.

The Doctor observed neatly planted trees, shrubs, and flowers decorating the cobblestone pathway leading up to the cottage. He noticed that whoever had designed the layout of the area had a fondness for weeping willow trees. There were probably about thirty weeping willows planted throughout the large garden surrounding the cottage.

The Doctor stopped beside one of those trees and inspected the flowers blooming on the branches. He suspected that these trees were not from Earth and were actually from the planet Lypitta. Meaning that The Master was planning to poison all of Earth’s leaders with a handmade blend of itiia poul klailei leaf tea and take over the Earth once said leaders were dead and out of her way. However, upon further investigating the tree with his sonic, The Doctor discovered that it was just a normal Earthly weeping willow tree. Why would The Master plant regular Human trees instead of something that could wield destruction in her villainous hands?

“Who the hell are you?!” You screamed as you brandished a bat protectively while running out of your home toward the stranger in your yard.

“I’m The Doctor. I’m here to help.”

“By snooping around my garden?” You held the bat higher, ready to attack this stranger.

“Darling? What are you - Oh. It’s you.” The Master strode out of the front door of the cottage but immediately stopped in annoyance when she caught a glimpse of The Doctor.

“You know this person?”

“Yes, He’s uh … an old friend. Why don’t both of you come inside so we can talk?” You took one last look at The Doctor before rushing up to The Master. You were now calmer but still curious, especially about who this stranger was to your partner. The Master gladly wrapped an arm securely around your middle and looked over her shoulder to make sure her old friend was following.

The Doctor entered the cottage slowly, not really knowing what to expect. He stood in the doorway watching you and The Master moving an extra seat around a small table and cleaning up some random objects and clothes strewn around the visible parts of the house. The Master gestured to one of the seats, implying for The Doctor to sit there. The Doctor did just that while you and The Master organised a few more things before joining him.

The three of you were incredibly silent, looking around almost everywhere except each other. You were growing anxious, so you reached out to The Master for comfort. She gladly took your hand and squeezed it reassuringly, it felt as if she needed you, too. The Doctor couldn’t stop staring at the place where the two of you were now interlocked. That should have been him holding your hand a reassuring you, not The Master.

“How long have you been on Earth?” Finally, The Doctor spoke, interrupting the embarrassing silence and drawing his hurt eyes away from where you were holding the Master’s hand.

“Probably about fifteen years. I had a brilliant plan to destroy you and your beloved planet, and I was just about to execute it, but then I met Y/n. I abandoned my plan and destroyed everything relating to it, then I reached out to Y/n. We have been in a happy relationship ever since.” The Master looked at you lovingly while briefly recounting your past. The Doctor didn’t believe her for a moment.

“She never hid her past from me. She was transparent with me from the very beginning.” You added. The Master had once mentioned in passing that The Doctor only saw her as a manipulative liar. You felt the deep need to stand up for your partner’s character.

“That doesn’t sound like her.”

“Listen, Doctor, I don’t understand what your problem is, but it sounds like you don’t really know what Koschei is like.” You retorted.

“Darling, can you please make us some tea?” The Master nicely asked you in order to avoid an argument to erupt in your living room. You regretfully nodded, you wanted to get to know your partner’s old friend, but you walked into the kitchen anyway to prepare some tea for the three of you. The Doctor waited for you to be securely in the kitchen before he dramatically leaned forward and spoke to The Master in a hushed, yet aggravated tone.

“You’ve hypnotised them. You must have.”

“Why can’t you just be happy for me for once?”

“I will never be happy about the idea of you hypnotising innocent people.”

“I have never hypnotised Y/n and I never would. How dare you accuse me of doing such a thing!”

“I’ll stop whatever plan you are devising, and I will save Y/n from you!”

“In the many centuries I have known you, Doctor, I have never known you to be this delusional. It’s truly astounding! You must get your head checked! And on a more serious note, stay away from Y/n. You are clearly delusional, but if you hurt Y/n or kidnap them away from me or away from our home, I will not hesitate to destroy you.” The Master threatened.

“See! I knew you were still evil!”

“I just want to see Y/n safe. You are the one threatening that. I am in no way planning on returning to my life before Y/n, unless you take them away from me, Doctor.”

“I don’t believe you.” The Master huffed. She slouched back into her chair and pinched the bridge of her nose before speaking again.

“I pity you, Doctor, and I wish that you would have reacted more rationally. We used to be friends. I haven’t forgotten that, but clearly, you have.”

“Master -”

“I was afraid that this is how you would react. That’s why I didn’t tell you of Y/n when we first began dating or on our first anniversary or even when moved in together. I know that you no longer care about our history before I made my mistakes. I think you should leave before we continue this in front of Y/n and you upset them.” The Master looked The Doctor in the eye with sincerity. The Doctor didn’t know what to believe anymore.

“The tea’s ready! I made Prince of Wales. I also got us some biscuits and cookies. The Master once mentioned that you had a sweet tooth, Doctor.” You said cheerfully while walking back into the room where the two Gallifreyians were sitting.

“Something came up in The Doctor’s schedule, I’m afraid, and he won’t be able to stay for tea.” The Master sent a glare to The Doctor, hoping that he really would spare you from overhearing over a thousand years' worth of hatred for each other being spewed out venomously.

“Yes, I am terribly sorry to have troubled you, but I must be leaving.”

“Well, at least take some cookies. They’re homemade!” The Doctor bittersweetly piled some cookies onto a napkin and gave you a tight-lipped smile.

Once outside, The Doctor took one last look at you through the little cottage window. He wondered if you were truly happy. You did look happy. The Master also looked happier than The Doctor had ever seen her throughout all of her regenerations, and that’s what scared him. The Doctor would definitely be keeping a close eye on the two of you. Possibly he could reach out to you when you were alone. Maybe he could even help you see the truth in The Master’s character. And maybe you would even see how much better for you The Doctor would be. The Doctor had to help you see the truth.
