Top 10 pictures taken moments before disaster

…so yeah, I got hacked on discord. Be careful gamers. Let this be a PSA that scammers have evolved, cuz the hacked account of a game dev friend was using some sort of chat bot, where we talked a bit and only sent the link after I offered to playtest a game they’ve been working on - the link was to a blogspot website for the game.

These were messages I sent to a friend who I knew was working on a game with said person, I was too stupid to wait for a response lol

New discord scam to look out for! A compromised account you are friends with will approach you. They will say that someone is impersonating you in another discord, and that the DMs were recorded in a server called "Name & Shame", and then block you so you can't talk further (1/2) pic.twitter.com/Dj8axaLdRI

After entering the server, you will be prompted to scan a QR code on your phone to login. Discord servers should never ask you to do this because you are already logged in! Doing so will give your log-in information to the scammer (2/2)

basically

you get DMed by a hacked member of your friends list

they say someone with the same username and avatar as you sent someone inappropriate pictures

they invite you to join a server to see the accusations and defend yourself

they say that they cannot risk having a creep on their friends list until you defend yourself

they block you so you feel pressured to join the server to defend yourself

if you join the server it tries to get you to scan the QR code to log in, which hands over complete access to your account

never scan QR codes on discord. do not join these servers. do not put the rest of your friends list in danger.
