I DONT HAVE A PICCY OF THE FINISHED PRODUCT this is of me working on it, BUT THE DESIGN BASICALLY LOOKS LIKE THAT
i wore it today and it was great :))) got so many compliments
knowing i will be inheriting a small part of the sanmo music scene is scary after seeing what some of yall have been posting! 😜
new tutorial, this time for "fake" medals you can use to decorate your jacket or any stuff really.
give yourself a weird award you yourself came up with, coorperations do it all the time!
stuff you will need:
-scissors
-variation of pliers
-a stencil, the shape you want the fabric part of ur medal to be, make it a bit bigger so youll have room to sew
-piece of fabric two times the size of your stencil
-sewing needle
-sewing thread, i use dental floss
-safety pin
-paperclip, or just iron wire, around 1 mm Ø
-bottlecap
start with cutting out the two pieces of fabric for your medal using a stencil
pin em to eachother, with the sides you want to be on the outside, facing inwards.
sew along the side but keep the top open, so you can flip it inside out.
now you can flip in inside out, and fold the top around the safety pin, and sew it down
make sure the side of the pin that doesnt open is the one being sewn down. the opening part should be on top.
bend the paperclip into something resembling the shapes in the pic below using the pliers, doesnt need to look good, mine sure dont
bend the edges of the bottlecap to the inside, and pin the hook part of the right iron wire thing down under the edge
connect the iron wire hoop you made (left in picture) to the piece of iron wire on the bottlecap. fold the point of the fabric part of the metal around the hoop and sew it down.
should look something like this.
now you can add decorations, you can paint the cap aswell as the fabric part, using patterned fabrics can also make ur medals look nicer.
ive seen people advise using modgepodge to seal the painted cap, instead of nailpolish, i dont have modpodge where i live but use that if youre able to get ur hands on it.
i hope this was clear, let me know if you want tutorials on any other stuff. i like doing them a lot.
While working on a telegram Chanel for the clothes and other items I make I tried to count every item (excluding pinns, patches, sticker, postcards, posters) I have made since starting the project in 2019 and even having quite abbreviated in between years… 93 items is what u could count. But I don’t remember all of them and definitely don’t have all of them photographs either •_• so there is actually more. Probably over 100.

Wow, such a strange feeling being back to tumblr after all this years. Yesterday i went to my old account.. What's up with 73 (??) texts that start with "babygirl"? Anyways...
I have been writing blogs and being on social media in this or other way since I have been 11-12yo. And since I am currently taking a long break from Instagram and Tiktok, I have made a decision to come back to tumblr and use it as my main writing place, as long as i have not mastered coding and created my own silly website.
If you somehow came across my account and don't know who I am: Hey, my name is Elfi Finn, my pronounce in english are they/them (german dey/deren/denen) and I am a chronically ill and Disabled migrant, who just wants to make it without much more damage. 𓆏
🤎I have a Youtube Channel "Elf´s Tears Society" and i learn to create long Content after making short form content for social media since 2017. 🤎I also have a Newsletter, my lovely NPN (No Post-Truth Newspaper), where I share links, write tiny articles and since now also post texts from guests as well. 🤎In addition to all that I have published a book (in German) Die Schildkröte, Die Forelle und Das Schaf. It is available as an E-book via Ko-fi and I am working on reprinting it in the physical form. 🤎I do have depop and Vinted, I tried to sell reworked and upcycled clothes and accessories, but my health is hard to work with, so there is no consistency on it at the moment. You can still check it out though. If you want something, just text me anywhere (just not via Instagram, I don't even have the app anymore).
I want to use this blog in a way we have been using blogs when I was a teenie or a kid (I was born 1998): sharing thoughts, pictures and personal opinions. I don't plan on getting bunch of followers or selling via tumblr (does anyone do that even?) I just want some peace and quite, without pressure of the algorithms and mean jerks who want to tell me how wrong I am about feeling good about myself or fighting for human rights.
Yeah.. That's it i guess. Thats me. And I just want to be ok. ˗ˏˋ 𓅰 ˎˊ˗

Back with another alternative Unsure-if-it’s-a-hot-take-here-but-would-def-be-a-hot-take-on-other-social-media-platforms.
“Well I have to buy from (fast fashion/unethical fashion brand) because I’m Alt and local/thrift stores don’t have any alt stuff that fits my style!!!” Is complete bullshit. Make it yourself like the original alternative subculture did.
You don’t know how?
The internet has a thousand tutorials. If you’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to start you can literally DM me and I will send you some of my favorite YT channels that I learned from when I started dressing alternative years ago. A bottle of dye cost me like $8 last time I bought it, and I can use that to dye a whole bucket of clothes black, and an even larger amount of clothes if I want some grey tones and I’m not too worried about having it all completely black.
But I don’t have time to learn all that right now!!!!
That’s completely fine and understandable! I’ve been there, but it’s not an excuse to constantly consume fast fashion. Pick up one skill at a time and change your wardrobe slowly. It’s not going to be instantaneous. Also skills you already have are transferable. You like drawing/sketching? Get a couple markers and transfer it onto a tshirt, and now you’ve got the coolest shirt in the room.
But what about disabled people????
I’m going to be so real with you rn, every single disabled person in my life (even ones I just casually talk to at art markets) are the most creative people I know and this one just feels like a random scapegoat that able-bodied people throw around. I’m disabled too, specifically surrounding muscle/connective tissue function, chronic pain, and motor skills. I work at a slower pace, with mediums I know I’m good with, and take breaks, as do all my friends and acquaintances who share similar problems. If you’re disabled enough you cannot do so, this does not apply to you and I support you getting your needs met in the way that makes the most sense for you.
It’s a lot more counter-culture to just listen to the music and wear a basic pair of jeans and a shirt from the thrift that you put a skull on with sharpie, than to wear plastic crap from Shein and Temu. It’s not really raging against the machine to buy into it. Being clothed is important and a human right, however having your perfect ideal wardrobe immediately, cheaply, and at the expense of the wellbeing of either the planet or other people is not a human right. There’s a bit of a difference between those two, and you can survive in a pair of basic blue jeans, I promise you.
Made some diy pins for my battle jacket! I want to make more but those were the only bottle caps I scavenged from work so I’ll need to wait until I work again and can get some more.
Idk if this is going to be an unpopular opinion (probably would be in Insta or TikTok but I feel like ppl are a bit more reasonable here), but while goth/punk/grunge/etc are PRIMARILY music and political based subcultures, there is still a fashion element. Fashion is political in today’s world, due to the nature of capitalism and it’s social effects, and the primary hallmark of the fashion side of these subcultures (in their origins) was the DIY clothes that served multiple purposes: reducing your capitalistic footprint, your environmental footprint, and defying social norms of physical presentation. Same thing with makeup, which is weaponized off of women’s insecurities. I respect your right to do whatever you want with yourself but if it happens to be following the exact trends and beauty standards of your current time, it’s not counter-culture.
You can be goth/punk/grunge and dress “normal” because it is primarily musical and political. BUT, you cannot be goth/punk/grunge and wear Shein, Temu, buy into all the latest trends and participate in fast fashion, etc, because that is against the ethics of the subculture. Similarly, we need to stop watering down the look to the point of incomprehension and normalcy and calling it after an alternative counter-cultural group. And I understand being poor, I’ve been low-income for a while now. I thrift what I can but if I really, actually need (not want!) a new pair of jeans and I can’t find one that fits anywhere else, I will go to Walmart and buy a pair from the clearance section. However I then wear and repair that pair of pants until it’s literally tearing apart, and then repurpose the fabric I can salvage into new projects when I can no longer wear it.
“It’s the most punk thing to not care what anyone thinks!!” No it’s not actually. Punk has been defined by it’s almost obsession with politics, ethics, radical empathy with the oppressed, and fighting for change. Ignoring those calling you out on your privilege and your contributions to the capitalistic machine isn’t Punk. And I say all this as someone who’s parents were part of the original alternative scenes back in the 70s-90s, and who’s talked to a lot of people who were in it at the time of its creation.

still thinking about it but a few days ago i found out my friend has absolutely no idea what bandcamp is. what!!!! i admit i still need to make the move over to bandcamp but its just. better!!!!!! like wdym they arent as stingy as spotify and actually provide a usable free user experience.. and they pay their artists??? awesome.
point is i like bandcamp. use bandcamp. yay!
anyways ill get back to normal posts soon lol
i could go on and on about how much i love wikipedia but ill summarise it real quick.
wikipedia is the ultimate community resource, like genuinely. it relies solely on its community to function, both in terms of information and the website actually being able to run.
i will never forgive teachers for making it seem like a hellscape of misinfo because holy shit they are genuinely so strict on what information can be let onto its pages, i love wikipedia.
me x wikipedia canon
im so confused i cant tell if this reblog was meant with hatred or agreement
tumblr.. please tell me you understand that i wasnt saying punk isnt music based.. also no hate to u homie im sure ur epic
anyways elaboration on the original post, i was talking about some people ive seen that will try to discard all of punk's politics then replace it solely with music
if the reblog was meant with hate, then to answer the final tag, i know about punk historylol, i got into the history of punk and a bunch of its subcultures before even listening to the music because i fixated the biggest fixation i could on it for like a few weeks and learnt too much. i love wikipedia! my favourite community resource.
anyways i love learning about punk history and the subculture as a whole its so awesome.
"punk isnt political! punk is mainly music based!"
ok how about i go and drink approximately 217.23L of wall paint. how about that.

i feel like one of the most punk things you can do nowadays is be a furry or therian/some form of alterhuman. theres nothing more punk than defying society as a whole and taking an interest in or straight up identifying as non-human beings.
like fuck yeah! wear your tail and mask! wear your fursuit! shits punk as hell and it does good by creating positive experiences for kids and really anyone that can find joy in these things.
i will never understand the hatred towards them, to be fair i grew up around the furry community and am apart of the alterhuman community but even then im not too involved in either. shits awesome
whenever i show people i know my diy projects i usually end up getting some form of "i wish i could do that.", and each time im confused because, you can.
i cut up old pairs of jeans for fabric, use wall paint samples, hand sew with a sewing kit i found in the house and have slowly curated into a big tub of random supplies, and i stop the fabric from fraying with a random match box. as for artistic stuff, you can easily make stencils from paper!!
trust me, if you've ever seen some really cool diy shit and wanna try it out, you 100% can! a lot of diy stuff can easily be sourced from around your house or from others around you with unwanted items.
im currently going around to friends of mine seeing if i can debone their jackets (steal the zippers) and then return said deboned jackets, if youre broke or just dont wanna spend $50 on a white t shirt with cursive on it then make that shit!! trust me you just gotta get creative with what you use. :)
update!!! belt bag has been finished :) ill post a picture if anyones interested but im super happy with it and ill test it out soon. currently painting a mini patch to stitch onto it for decoration!
i love the stereotype of punk just being purely scary and insane. like ya theres definitely some odd balls here (love u guys) (most of u) but im literally making myself a belt bag from an old pair of jeans!!!!! im over here doing arts and crafts for the sake of the environment.
fuck capitalism i wanna sew a bag. that i can attach to my belt. with loops. a belt bag. for my little things. fuck you!!!!! ill go listen to my political loud music too!!!!!!!

hey! are you tired of mixing acrylic paint with random shit to paint your patches? interested in a paint thats a little bit too opaque and probably needs to be watered down? (thus giving you a bit more to work with!)
then heres an idea!: wall paint samples.
ive been using $5 wall paint sample tubs since i started making patches, and holy SHIT it works super well! since the paint is so opaque you dont tend to need very much, and because its meant for walls its overly strong and water resistant. the small tubs also give you plenty considering how little you tend to need!
"annoying anarcho! what about the fumes!" idk but it works great. wear a mask or something while you paint if you're really worried.
only con is that you need to be confident in your abilities! if you mispaint you need to either go over it in a different colour or wipe it away with water asap, otherwise shits great! if you want colours that arent different varieties of white then mix it with acrylic, hypocritical of me to suggest i know, but it works a charm.
or, if you dont like paint then household bleach can be pretty decent! its permanent, has a cool looking colour +effect and is generally in most households, just make sure your fabric works with it and do some test strips!
all my current diy projects for reference !! plus a new pants layout draft !!! ☠️☠️
i hate making new pants because there’s only a few choices when it comes to pockets.
adding pockets on my thighs that make my thighs looks huge…..adding pockets on the knee area and not having room for knee holes…or just no extra pockets at all…. :|
(starting new patch pants as i type this. the paint is drying.)
finally has motivation to do all my diy projects.
can’t find white floss.
💔💔💔
the utility belt wip in question
decided to just take a picture while wearing my newly repaired pants, because i love them so much and i don’t want to take them off (they need to be washed so bad…)
full patch pants update coming soooon.
been fixing the crotch for my patch pants recently bc i ripped em down the center 🙏🙏 that’s why i haven’t posted them yet…
EDIT: UPDATED PATCH PANTS POST HERE!!!
yes i am posting my current patch pants at 2am…
(i need to add so many more base patches on the back ☠️☠️) but these pants have been torn apart and sewed back together soo many times it’s crazy.
my patches are as appear from left to right, top to bottom:
front:
anti-bomb/nuke patch, razor blade patch, tiny little reference to my favorite band…, an angel i drew and then painted, knocked loose patch, just a zipper, orchid patch, wristmeetrazor patch, (can’t see it but there’s a brass knuckles patch on the right(when worn) pocket), HKFY lamb, city of caterpillar patch, werewolf or vampire teeth(up to interpretation..)on the knee, thursday band patch, saetia patch, seeyouspacecowboy, the “cover heart” ep symbol from the band the saddest landscape(this is an original! how cool is that…), a patch that is an inside joke…, and a patch from the metalcore band dance of the seventh crow.
on the back: upsidedown peace symbol (“regular” peace symbol is technically incorrect and kindaaa… Used. to. be used by nazis…. history here) , mitch lucker stomp, another reference to not only my favorite band but my favorite album ever…, anarchy and equality patch, welcome the plague year (band) patch, on the very bottom: “all i wanted was a pepsi!”…
