i’ve been thinking abt this a lot. so when i rewatched the harry potter movies recently, i noticed that hagrid never calls draco by his first name. even in a learning setting, where he’s a professor, he calls harry hermione and ron by their first names but simply calls draco “malfoy” and i have a theory as to why. so obviously hagrid is friends with hermione and ron because like any friend of harry’s is a friend of hagrid’s, right? so when draco calls hermione a mudblood, hagrid is angry because obviously that’s horrible and it made her cry for gods’ sake! and i have a feeling hagrid is the type of person who would forever defend his friends, and although he remains mostly polite to draco in his lessons, hagrid’s little way of showing that he stands by hermione, without getting him in trouble of course, is to never call him draco, but simply malfoy when he’s being addressed. that’s it, that’s all i have to say
