ellie couldn’t focus if she tried, no matter how hard she stared at the screen of her laptop, she couldn’t forget the sight of you crying to her about your shitty ex boyfriend who cheated on you before passing out in her lap.

she had to focus, for her sake and yours.

you’d been through enough heartbreak, she wouldn’t be able to live with herself if she were the reason you cried like that.

she gently moved you over so you were instead laying on a pillow, but she noticed you visibly shiver at the loss of contact making her heart ache.

she quickly grabbed the blanket on the couch behind her, draping it over your sleeping form as she looked at the still drying tears on your face.

she sighed, reaching over to take out a makeup wipe from your bag before looking over the ruined mascara under your eyes.

she bit her lip as she tenderly began cleaning your face, making sure she got every sticky dark piece from your face before looking over your soft features.

“i wish i could show you how much better you deserve…” she whispered, pressing a parting kiss to your head before she got up.

heading outside, she lit a joint between her lips, smoke spilling from her mouth.

she looked up at the stars, remembering how the two of you would stay up til midnight to catch the meteor showers and count all the constellations.

you guys even named a couple after you guys, saying as long as those stars were up there, you guys would be inseparable.

and how right you were for that, but ellie was catching feelings and she wasn’t ready to face that.

or what that’d do to your current friendship.

she took another hit, the door behind her opening making her spin around.

when you stepped outside, she thought she’d relax but she stared, taking in your form as you rubbed your tired eyes.

“thank you for cleaning me up.” you chuckled, leaning against the porch beside her as she passed you the joint letting you take a couple hits. “i’m sorry i’m such a mess.”

“what’s being human if you aren’t a little messy?” ellie smiled. “and no worries. i gotta take care of my girl.”

you passed her back the joint, leaning your head on her shoulder making her smile to herself, taking another hit before leaning her head on yours.

“he’s not even worth the tears anymore.” you concluded, the warmth of being beside her slowly mending your broken heart.

“he never was. he’s a douche, you deserve a guy that’ll give you everything you give him and more.” ellie said, ashing the joint as she brought it back to her lips.

“this is why i love you. you’re so wise.” you hugged her making her stiffen at those words.

“yeah, i’m the wisest…” she sighed softly, hugging you back.

but as she wrapped her arms around your waist, she couldn’t help the butterflies that flooded her stomach as she felt your body press against her, your perfect curves and soft skin so close to her, it was too much to handle.

so before she could permanently attach herself to you, she pulled away making you do the same.

“did i do something wrong?” you asked, sensing her suddenly get distant with you making her shake her head.

“of course not. this is all me.” she chuckled, her grip on the guardrails getting tight as the joint slowly went out due to the crisp night air.

“what is? ellie, talk to me.” she hated how much your words had an impact on her making her turn on her heels to head back inside, not even holding the door for you like she usually would.

you hurriedly follow her, closing the door behind you as you watched her put away her joint and lighter.

“els, i don’t want to beg you for answers.” you said in defeat making her huff, turning to face you.

“then don’t, let’s drop this conversation right now.” she began to walk off but you grabbed her arm.

“no, ellie, look at me.” you said to her, earning her piercing green gaze. “you get distant like this and it’s happening more and more often.”

ellie cursed to herself, not realizing how long she’s been head over heels for you.

“is it something i did?” you asked softly making her want to eat her own heart over how terrible those words hurt her.

she wanted to say “no, baby, you didn’t do anything wrong.” or “no, you’re perfect, more perfect than perfect, i just don’t want to ruin what we have.” but all her words became jumbled as she watched your pretty eyes tear up some more.

“because i was fine with losing my boyfriend, if i lose you, i don’t know if i’ll keep breathing.” you admitted weakly as ellie tried to form the words to reassure you but they didn’t want to cooperate.

so instead, she pulled you into a warm hug.

you sobbed into her chest as her hand rubbed your back and the other played with your hair.

“im not going anywhere..” ellie promised as you wept, reaching down to cup your face and wipe your tears away with her thumbs.

you looked up at her, the tension between the two of you was thick.

her eyes were glancing from your eyes, to your puffy lips, to your flustered face as she collected herself, calming her nerves with a deep breath.

“im not going anywhere because i’m in love with you.” she told you straight up making your eyes widen as you freeze. “and i want you to be happy, and loved, so so loved, more loved than you could possibly imagine and i don’t know if i have the capacity to give you what you deserve, i—“

she’s cut off from her heartfelt ramble when you cup her face and bring her lips down to yours.

you stay like that, your lips connected in a way that healed both of you from the scars of your repressed affection for each other.

you pulled away, looking up at ellie who still had that conflicted look in her eyes.

“you’re the greatest gift this earth could’ve ever given me, so don’t sell yourself short.” you whispered making her bite back her smile.

“yes, ma’am.” ellie pressed you against the wall, her hand gently holding you by the throat making you gasp, but she captured your lips in hers before you could say anything.

you melted in her grip, your eyes fluttering shut with bliss as you kissed her back lovingly.

when she pulled away, you tried following her before you came to your senses and opened your eyes.

“you’ve always been corny, you know that?” ellie smirked, her breath brushing over your lips making you bite them.

“oh, shut up.” you groaned making her grip tighten which caused you to let out a soft moan.

“what was that?” ellie asked softly, leaning in.

“n—nothing, im sorry.” you whimpered making her nod as she tilted your head up by moving her hand from your neck to grabbing your chin.

“that’s what i thought.” she smiled, pressing her lips to yours.

I made this Gifset on April, 2 of 2023 and since then it`s been (infecting) rotting at my drafts - since I forgot what was supposed to be written in this post - but anyways, here i go.

I watched most of this show all alone, but the final and the rerun of ep. 8; i got the opportunity to watch in the night of release with my family reunited (mom and stepdad) and it was such a surreal feeling! To have the chance of do it and comment with them about the logistics and experience such surprise at the few seconds of "Look for the Light". I just wish i could live inside that moment forever.

Also my mom is a nurse, just like Anna and it was priceless; just to witness her watching this last episode and talk about how this apocaliptic universe would be in reality.

I miss it so much....

Just liked to see how many elements I could extract from the first episode alone and put into gifs, also how fast the changes between the time period despicted are.

The Firearms Carried By Ellie Williams.

1: Beretta model 92. The Beretta model 92 is a semi automatic handgun chambered in 9X19. Developed in 1976 the Beretta has seen its fair share of usage. From the streets of Hong Kong wielded by black market smugglers to U.S. Marines kicking down doors in Baghdad. It features an open slide design, leaving part of the barrel exposed, a key feature of Beretta handguns. The internals and general design is very similar to that of the German Walther P38, a WW2 era military service handgun. Although a little bulky compared to most pistols today the Beretta still gets the job done and looks good while doing it.

2: Taurus model 66. The Taurus model 66 is a revolver chambered in the hefty .357 magnum cartridge. Developed in 1978 it saw great success with law enforcement and civilians alike. Taurus is a company based out of Brazil, they’re most famous for their revolvers and semi automatic pistols.

3: Remington 870. The Remington 870 is a pump action shotgun chambered in .12 gauge. First developed in 1950 it’s still insanely popular, with over 13 million models having been produced. Law enforcement agencies and militaries around the world have used the 870 to great effect. The one which Ellie uses was picked off a dead WLF soldier. The ones in the hands of the WLF have been heavily modified, their stock and barrel having been shaved down, most likely for ease of use in close quarters and to get in and out of vehicles easier.

4: Remington 700. The Remington 700 is chambered in .308 Winchester. First developed in 1962, the Remington 700 found its way into the hands of civilians, hunters, and soldiers alike. A simple action and a powerful round, what else more could you ask for?

5: SIG MPX. The SIG MPX chambered in 9X19 was first developed in 2013, and was manufactured by German company SIG Sauer. The SIG MPX is especially popular within European police and military circles. Gas operated 9MM submachine gun, pretty run of the mill all things considered. The one Ellie acquires is mounted with a suppressor and collapsible stock.

I love how Joel instructs Ellie so naturally, telling her what she has to do and how to do it.

I also love the fact that he’s becoming more open and trusting of Ellie, trusting her to handle a rifle, trusting her to watch his back.

Just noticed this and thought it was neat. In the first game Ellie uses a Beretta model 70. In the second game she uses a Beretta 92.

Similarities between TLOU 1 & 2 and Arcane.

Beginning first with plot elements and environment, then to overlaps between characters.

Potential spoilers for season one and two of Arcane and The Last of Us Part One and Part Two. But I did my best to skirt around them.

The QZs and Piltover.

The quarantine zones of the TLOU are the remains left of the United States government after martial law was declared in response to the outbreak. And they are run in the same way as martial law, where force is used to control the population.

Food rations are controlled and hoarded. Resources are scare. But your option otherwise is to risk roughing it on your own against infected and nature.

It is a terribly repressive system, which sparks the emergence of the Fireflies.

Similar, to Piltover. Mostly through the lens of residence of the under city.

Enforces stomping through the streets, imprisoning your neighbors, breaking up families, using violence as a tool for control.

Furthermore, Piltover ignores the lack of resources in the undercity, has no member of the council who’s from the undercity to represent them (until the end of the series), and exploits there weaknesses for profit.

The Fireflies and The Firelights.

Both the Fireflies and the Firelights exist to do the same thing: challenge an oppressive government and bring hope for the future. And they both use any means necessary to achieve their goals.

Although, the Firelights also have the added challenge of Silco’s control of the Undercity.

Additional, they’re pretty much named the same things. Firelights are just the Arcane universes version of fireflies (or lightning bugs, whatever your preferred name for them)

Spores and Toxic Gas (The Gray)

I also can’t help but draw parallels between airborne spores from TLOU and the gas from the mines in Arcane.

Both result in coughing and choking initially. Spores lead always to infection and death, unless your Ellie. The Gray, as it’s referred to in the show, is shown to have numerous side effects, if you don’t suffocate from exposure to its gas form. Most notable examples, Viktor and Silco. The disease Viktor has, I’d guess leukemia, seems to be a result of exposure to pollution in his childhood. And Silco’s left eye is left in a constant battle of corruption after a wound he receives there is exposed to polluted river water. Both of which would lead to death if treatment wasn’t possible (Shimmer).

Violet and Ellie

I’ll start with a silly point first before the heartbreak: both are gay. Neither give a specific identity, but for generally purpose, and because of only seeing romantic relations between them and other woman, lesbian is what we’ll call it.

Here we have too powerful, strong willed, quick witted, lesbian woman as main characters in a narrative about overcoming hardships and heartbreak.

Now the overlaps in those hardships and heartbreaks.

Both are orphaned at a young age. Vi after an uprising gone wrong. Ellie’s is never revealed in the games. And then both are adopted by a new father figure. Vander and Joel respectively.

Both are taught survival and fighting techniques from them. Both see the adoptive father as their real father. Then both of them lose said father. Both of them feel responsible for that death.

Vi eventually heals from this loss by the end of the series, and while she definitely carries the grief of that loss through the show, she doesn’t follow the same kind revenge plot that Ellie does. What Ellie does belongs in a completely different post.

Abby and Jinx

I almost didn’t include this because at first I thought the only narrative similarity between the two would be the responsibility of the previous mentioned death of the father figures. Abby kills Joel. Jinx (Powder) (accidentally) kills Vander.

Especially because I consider Vander Jinx’s father, too. Regardless of her relationship Silco after his passing.

But then I thought about Lev and Isha. Abby and Lev relationship in the game exists to mirror the relationship between Ellie and Joel.

And while I could see an argument that Isha is meant to help Jinx heal, especially heal the relationship between herself and Vi, I still place her in a role of motherhood or caregiver for Isha.

Jinx learns so much about love, forgiveness, and hope from Isha. Similar to how Abby found forgiveness for Joel actions once she finally experienced what it means to live for someone else.

Jinx sees herself in Isha, just as Abby saw herself in Lev.

Joel and Vander

As you could probably gather from the previous two points, both these characters are father figures.

Joel takes Ellie under his wing after circumstances lead the to travel across the country in hopes Ellie’s immunity will lead to a cure. But at the end of the game, when complications arise, he saved Ellie, leaving body after body in his wake.

Vander, friends with their mother and father, already knew Violet and Powder. He in fact lead the uprising against Piltover that would result in the death of their parents. He adopts them then, and shifts focus into making the holding the Undercity together the best he can, even alliancing himself with enforcers to try and keeps his daughters as safe as he can.

I’m not gonna spoil anything, but the point is these two men would do anything, and I mean anything, for the safety of their daughters.

Bombs

Maybe a dumb point, but bomb mechanics in TLOU is one of the most fun aspects of the gameplay. And Jinx’s most infamous for her bombs.
