more of a genuine suprise at the 180ยฐ of his personality, like, be honest with yourself,,, if one of your closest friends suddenly became nearly the complete opposite of how you last knew and encountered them, you wouldn't be a little on edge? come on lol. I think over time, they'd get used to it and would probably rebond with one another - a "matter of time" type of deal.

Them laying Newt down in safe haven to see if he's still alive, he is.
Thomas staying by Newt's side as his heartbeat is the only thing keeping him going, listening to his heartbeats.
Before Newt woke up Minho sat down with Thomas and he went on about how Newt talked to Minho about his love for Thomas and the reason why Newt stuck to Thomas because if he died the last place he wanted to be was in his arms... โน๏ธ
Newt finally waking up with the sight of Thomas, appearing tousled with a bowl of soup (that he asked Frypan to make) โน๏ธโน๏ธ, his body still half conscious, wrecked, aching, and dizzy enough to not realized that his skin cleared from the flare and slowly recovering
Thomas finally tearing up a bit when Newt finally woke up and he laid his hand on his back to steady him, gently wiping Newt's face and body from liquid and blood
"Open up, sweetheart, you need to eat." Thomas said as he gently lifted a spoon of soup to Newt
Newt weakly smiling as he saw Thomas tenderly taking care of him, opening up and accepting his fate to be spoonfed by Thomas
