I love telling people my favourite move is Goncharov (1973) and them not having the slightest clue what I’m talking about.

The reason Goncharov (1973) is such a hit is because it allows Tumblr to unironically participate in its national sport:

Lying

I think the best part of the Goncharov sweep is that people can make gonch ocs and no one can tell them it's not a canon character

Most of the tumblr trends are pretty self contained - I don’t go around telling everyone about horse plinko or referencing the live slug reaction too much, or saying “eeby deeby” or anything like that around non-tumblrinas. So why is it that I keep wanting to turn towards everyone I know and say “hey have you seen the 1973 Martin Scorsese film Goncharov yet”

I feel like Goncharov needs to be added to this list asap!

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

One of the few things that are gonna keep me going until 2069 (haha funni number), is my burning desire to see what crazy shit happens when Goncharov finally enters the public domain.

I think one reason Goncharov worked so well is that on tumblr you’re regularly being subjected to fandoms you’re not in and media you’ve never seen. I assumed my mutuals all just got really into some movie that I had no interest in and scrolled right past for a solid week before realizing it wasn’t real.

goncharov 1973 dir. martin scorsese might be a mafia movie to sigma male film bros but to me she is like if a traumatized russian mercenary who dreams of a quiet house on a hill but cannot escape the blood on his hands was my girlmutual

love this album so much!! i've been obsessed with the folklore of st sasha about as long as i can remember, it's endlessly fascinating. the whole motif of the forest that never existed haunts me to this day, and i think "the girl who painted death" might be one of my all-time favourite fairy tales. as for the elephant in the room... personally, i'm of the camp that david brownley was killed by a shark that was anomalously far north, but then that doesn't explain how he was found so far inland, and those papers... if only they hadn't been burned, maybe we might have some better insights into what really happened </3 anyway, you've done an amazing job bringing st sasha lore it to light for a wider audience! weird that it isn't already more popular. aight, i'm gonna go rewatch goncharov for the thousandth time.
