It is with the deepest frustrations that I must report Microsoft has pushed out Copilot onto Microsoft Word no matter what your previous settings were. If you have Office because you paid for it/are on a family plan/have a work/school account, you can disable it by going to Options -> click on Copilot -> uncheck 'Enable Copilot'.
(Note, you may not see this option if you haven't updated lately, but Copilot will still pop up. Updating should give you this option. I will kill Microsoft with my bare hands.)
In addition, Google has forced a roll-out of it's Gemini AI on all American accounts of users over 18 (these settings are turned off by default for EU, Japan, Switzerland, and UK, but it doesn't hurt to check).
To remove this garbage, you must go to Manage Workspace smart feature settings for all your Gmail/Drive/Chat and turn them off. Go to Settings -> See all settings -> find under "Genera" the "Google Workspace smart features" -> turn smart feature setting off for both Google Workspace and all other Google products and hit save. (If you turned off the smart settings in your Gmail, it never hurts to open Drive and double-check that they're set to off there too.)
Quick Edit: I found the easiest way to get to the Smart Feature settings following the instructions above was to do it through Drive. Try that route first.
Now is the time to consider switching to Libre Office if you haven't already.
Really strongly recommend making a playlist with of any random song you hear playing in a store, attached to a post on instagram, or you just find when searching for some other song, or any term that just pops into your head
Okay with the caveat that I have not personally verified this, but it does appear to be supported by google support threads and their abuse policy--
User sloan_spencer_author on instagram reports that another author they know had their Google docs access suspended for sharing explicit content.
I know that lots of y'all on f1blr use google docs, so I'd encourage you to back up your work locally (on your hard drive/an external drive). I don't know what a good alternative is--I've been using Proton Drive (since I already pay for a Proton email) and I don't see anything in the terms of service about prohibiting explicit content, so. Maybe that and Word or OfficeLibre? Man, I don't know. Our cyberpunk dystopia sucks.
Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.
If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.
Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.
Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.

2024 didn't really end on a high note for me and my family. First, my aunt passed away, then my grandmother passed away a week later.

But then I looked it up myself and Google Maps erased Palestine and put the Israel stamp on it. That's ...I don't know what to say to be honest....disgusting is one word for it. But also revealing where Google stands in the war, if that wasn't clear before...
Like, you can check for yourself, but when I searched for Palestine (and it doesn't matter if I search in english or german btw- same result) this is what came up:
First they erase the people, then the name of their country. Shame on every government complicit to this. If you believe you can just take something away from someone else and make it yours, you're a thief and nothing else-- killing for it makes you a murderer.

Rainbow Dash would probably use a decked-out Windows PC for gaming, but fall shitty tech trends without question (AI art, NFTs, etc)
(Flim and Flam would be the ones pushing the AI art and Web3 shit)
Rarity would probably be snobbish and use a Macbook, before either raging like a beast or sobbing whenever it randomly breaks.
Fluttershy would be likely be way too scared to even use a computer, until her friends pressure her into getting a cheap Chromebook so she could at least get online. Even then, she would mostly use sites like Facebook to post about the most mundane shit imaginable, while likely unaware what exactly a "meme" is.
Pinkie Pie would be extremely reckless and use an outdated version of Windows without being aware, while constantly infecting her PC with viruses and crapware. In addition, she would probably get frequently contacted by tech support scammers, think they're actually from tech support, but annoy them too much with her Pinkie Pie antics for them to really do anything.
Applejack would be total luddite who only upgrades Windows very reluctantly. She doesn't even like to use her computer that much, but when she does, she just wants it to "get shit done" without having to deal with annoying gimmicks.
