Obscure Hero Essays?
Hi, I feel bad for my poor followers and my lack of posting. Some of you may not know I’m a HUGE superhero and comic book nerd. Ive been thinking about writing an essay about my all time fave obscure super hero Guy Gardner and how not only is he the best and most underutilized Green Lantern but there’s a ton of interesting angels and storylines not being utilitized.
Also, Tora aka Ice of DC Comics deserves to be written about beyond her relationship with Guy and her Best friend and potential love interest Fire. I want to do an essay on how Tora became a symbol of women fighting against stuffed in a refrigerator syndrome and how nodboy recognizes it.
Would anybody be interested in me writing it?

Hal, sprinting out the door: I HAVE TO GO!
Several hours, one blown up government building, and several dozen Green Lanterns taking post around the Watchtower medbay later:
Danny: What do you MEAN I'm in charge of space cops? Can I disband you?
Green Lanterns having one very large collective heart attack: Why?!
Danny: Because acab, that's why. Wait... I'm in charge of the space police. Does that mean if I want to make reforms, I can do that, little to no questions asked?
Green Lanterns: Um...
Danny: Cool, I need to make a call. Sam has the list of police reforms.
Green Lanterns: Um?!
Lazarus Pact AU
In the last moments of his reign, King of the Inifinite Realms attacked the victor and fled to the mortal plane to prevent the Tyrant known as Pariah Dark from absorbing his core and stealing his powers for himself. Those who couldn't challenge the new king's rule and wanted nothing to do with the barbaric monarch followed soon after.
Notably, the seemingly countless elite warriors who were revered for their expertise at ectoplasmic manipulation who joined the Former King throughout his eons-long time as ruler of the Realms.
However, in an environment with very little to no ambient ectoplasm, they had to use their energy reserves sparingly until they found a new home. The journey nearly resulted in them nearly fading from existence in the void of space, but they had found salvation in the form of beings called 'Guardians' who held similar beliefs to the monarch himself.
So, a pact was made, and conditions had to be met. The most important were the following:

1) The Warriors of the Infinite Realms would house themselves in artifacts that were virtually indestructible to any form of harm to keep them safe.
The Guardians would create power rings to keep them safe.
2) Ectoplasm was essential for beings of the Realms. Without it is to perish, so an energy would be needed to replenish their cores.
The Guardians got to work and made ectoplasmic generators that could revitalize a warrior's energy within a matter of seconds to carry on in their duties. These devices were to be called Lanterns.
3) A stealth team would be made to keep an eye on the happenings within the Inifinite Realms, specifically the young king Dark, and reported to the former king.
The Guardians established an elite team of Green Lanterns composed of their best members. These mission reports would be classified and kept secret from the Corps at large for the former king's eyes only.
4) Should Pariah Dark lose his crown, they would be informed by the former king. Should the new monarch be a just soul, the Green Lanterns are to protect this being with their lives and come to his aid in his hour of need.
Failure to do so will result in the forced disbanding of the Green Lanterns Corps via the destruction of the his own core. The Guardians, despite their scientific prowess and failsafes, could not hope to stop this event if it came to pass.
Upon hearing this, the Guardians would anxiously make their weekly scouting parties turn daily and scour the Realms for trouble.
5) From that day onward, the former king would no longer be addressed with his old title. A new one would be made.
The Guardians would address the entity as Ion, the Being of Willpower.

When Ion booms across all power rings that the new king is in need of immediate assistance, the Guardians send every available Lantern to intercept the threat.
The question being...who is it?
Somebody just made me realise Green Lantern is literally a magical girl.
First his power comes from a ring, a classic magical girl thing to have an accessory that transforms you.
He has a main colour theme as any other magical girl has.
He has a costume that subtly GLOWS
AND HE HAS AN OATH!!! What’s more magical girl than an oath/catchphrase!?

I realized that I had never drawn another Green Lantern besides Hal and Kyle, so I decided to draw the 4 main Lanterns! (I wanted to do Jessica, Simon and Alan too, but I had no inspiration to place them with the others)
I tried to draw them with a construction that makes sense with them (military style rockets for Hal, "complex" drills for John, mecha hands for Kyle and a baseball bat for Guy)

As a second generation immigrant this comic means so much to me. Community is so important! I love the idea of a local hero and I hope to see Tai Pham more often from now on!

im adding more:
-kyle would definitely keep a pokemon deck with him at all times
-the lanterns tried to beat minecraft together one time and it failed horribly
-the lanterns are still confused on how simon is the only lantern batman tolorates.
-the alien GLs know more earth songs like “another one bites the dust”, “dont stop me now”, “im still standing”, “toxic”, “wannabe”, “say my name” and "i want it that way” because the GLs just breaks into song EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
-the alien GL’s know vines because sometimes the GLs would quote them. (adding to this, whenever the GL’s mess something up at oa, the aliens nearby collectively say “ADAM”)
-guy has a collection of stickers and gives the stickers to the GLs.
-tai does competitive trampolining
-the guardians had to ban trampolines one time because tai was using them to freaking jump high into the sky in oa, freaking out the GL’s. (adding to this, an alien thought he was the messiah or something)
-during a mission, tai sang “chug jug with you” and “revenge” while he defeated an alien army with john because he’s a meme kid
some random lanternfam headcanons:
all of them have extreme cases of “jet lag” every time they’re on earth since the concept of day & night doesn’t really exist in space
john makes dad jokes. and laughs at his own dad jokes
carol and john are both really good at the deadpan, totally straight-faced kind of sarcasm. the two of them have managed to totally convince kyle that kilowog is actually the king of his planet
(meanwhile kilowog wonders why rayner has started bowing every time they see each other, but he’s not questioning it)
the earth lanterns have randomly broken out into song so often that a lot of the alien GLs now know all the lyrics to Stayin’ Alive
hal and guy have an unspoken competition to eat the grossest alien foods. john is constantly worried for their safety
the other lanterns all have to put up with simon and jessica’s mutual pining and it drives them nuts
(hal and carol have flashbacks to when guy and john were going through the same phase)
sometimes the others will forget that guy used to be a teacher, and then he absentmindedly does something like give them little sticker constructs
carol still eats cheap takeout almost every day but she will absolutely spend her CEO money on buying a billboard near hal’s house just to print “Green Lantern Sucks!” on it
simon learned a bunch of magic tricks for his nephew and is really good at them, especially card tricks. he once saved himself and jess from being arrested by aliens with an impressive sleight-of-hand, and he’s ridiculously proud of that fact
jessica randomly bought a yankee candle for guy because “it made me think of you” and guy had to hold back tears
john plays minecraft, and he’s the kind of guy who makes really elaborate buildings and sculptures and redstone contraptions. he’s an architect, okay? it’s fun
kyle and jess also play minecraft together, but only with a pokemon mod
including earth, guy and john have gotten married on 31 separate planets and counting
