Taliyah blinked at the man before her , thoughts whirring . Wait . . . How come ? Biting the inside of her cheek , Taliyah took ahold of Ekko's arm .

After all , what's the use of personal space ?

" Why ? I mean , if you bite me , I'd turn into a vampire . So why isn't it the other way around ? " The girl's blue eyes shimmered with wonder , fingers tracing up one of his cold veins . " PG did it once , so why can't I do it again ? "

picks her up. proceeds to yeet her into the pool.

Screams of horror.

" Ekko , what the actual HECK are you doing ? ! I COULD'VE DROPPED MY CROISSANT ! " There , being held above the water , is a croissant .

"Why the hell does Kitai's cake taste like soap??"

" It does ? Maybe it's because of that one weird liquid I found . . . "

" Bitch , that's a nickname . And no , our future son's nickname will NOT be Ludacris . "

Taliyah paused her eating , Ekko's dramatic words filling her ears . Since when was he here ? The woman look up , wiping some spaghetti sauce from her face .

" Ekko ? When did you get here . . ? . . . Want some spaghetti ? " Taliyah smiled nervously , patting to the spot next to her on the ground . " Ya know I understand that , right ? "

Taliyah was always interested in Ekko . Maybe it's because he's the vampire king , maybe because he's the son of the demon lord , or perhaps a mix of those two . Whatever the reason , the human was shocked .

Her ? Teach HIM ? ! Thoughts filled her mind , but the weapons in Taliyah's hands were set down . " I dunno , Ekko . I'm not all that great at using my brain . " Despite what was said , Tali hopped down the ladder in her house , happily sitting on the ground .

Estate: Our muses move into a new place together

A house . This was something Taliyah begged for . The two to settle down in a nice house by the woods . . . Soon , though , two turned into three . Three into four . That was probably what convinced Ekko .

Taliyah was utterly exhausted on the day of the move . Bags were under her hazel eyes , and her lips were pressed thin . Currently , she sat in the passenger seat , a rowdy toddler playing with his baby sister in the back seat .

" Ekks , can you believe it ? " The woman muttered , yawning at the end of the sentence . " We finally left that apartment for good . Do you think we'll stay long ? " Taliyah turned her head to Ekko , a soft smile dancing on her lips . She hopes he'll say yes . . .

Taliyah doesn't know much about her traveling partner . He hardly ever spoke , after all ! When Ekko did , his low , rough voice was oh so hard to hear . But now , with the crackling of the fire , she could finally hear .

What he had to say , however , quickly removed what joy Taliyah had found .

How it used to be ? What did the sand guardian mean ? The Shuriman's chocolate eyes studied her companion , a hand reaching for his own .

" Change . . . Is inevitable . All we can do is chug along . Hopefully , someday , it will all be peaceful once more . " If one isn't able to tell , Taliyah is just spitting out what was in her mind . The days of her playing with the other kids in her tribe were long gone now , leaving uncertainty in her heart as the weight of growing up was set upon her shoulders .

" We can go through this together . R-Right ? "

“  everyone leaves, eventually. either they move on or they die. they leave and i’m left behind.  ” sad vampire noises

" You're smart enough to know this would happen , Ekko , so why'd you agree ? "

Ekko should've known better . He's smart . At least , smarter than Taliyah .

Taliyah blinked innocently , staring at her lab partner . Wait . . . What ? She took off her goggles , head tilting to the side .

" What do you m— Mm ! " A kiss . The Shuriman was cut off with a kiss . Sadly , their other partner has to watch the fuckboy try to win Taliyah over . Which wasn't exactly working .

Playfulness , anger , it was all the same . At least , in this relationship . It all started with a little push . . . Just a push .

" Let go of me , Ekko ! " Taliyah snapped , slapping away his cold hand . God , could the undead ever take a joke ? Probably not , with what she's seen . At least he wasn't being a flirty idiot .

Respect . Ekko . . . Was the one to speak . The freckled teen stood silently , lost in thought about what to do .

" S-Serious ? Ekko , how can I show them I'm serious ? I . . . I don't want to hurt them . " Taliyah rubbed her bandaged arm , staring down at the floor . This was a common experience in her room . Words about her actions , good or bad . Was this going to be a good one ?

Taliyah was curious . Always has been , always will be . And you know what always got her ? Suspicious notes , asking to see her in the graveyard past midnight . Ahri had warned Taliyah , but . . .

The young woman was already there . Standing at the gates of the cemetery , Tali heard something . The faintest chords of a guitar . Without a second thought , she took out her sword and cut the chains . That , along with the lock , fell onto the damp , foggy ground .

With a screech , the gate slowly opened , showing just how foggy it was . However , that's always the case in Aaa . The adventurer began to walk further into the nothingness , listening for the strum of a guitar . Without a doubt , it was Ekko .

With each quick step , the song became clearer and clearer . A voice soon joined in , and then there he was . The vampire king , floating mindlessly while strumming . . . Yet Taliyah did nothing to make her presence known . Instead , she sat on the headstone of someone long dead , chocolate eyes watching innocently .

Taliyah was stunned . How dare he ? Steal a peach ring then stare her in the eyes as if he did nothing wrong ? ! The woman stared at her husband for a moment or two before closing the bag of candies .

" Excuse me . I want justice . "

Taliyah is always a bit jumpy . Call it her daily battles , call it her weak spots , it is what it is . However , the adventurer was never ready for when the vampire king himself shows up for a bite .

Taliyah was training in her tree house . Axes being thrown , laughter at inappropriate times , all of that jazz . A knife was in Taliyah's hand when something touched her . . . Something c o l d . " Hiyah ! " She yelled , jabbing the knife into a random direction .

Tali looked around wildly , finally noticing her floating bracelet , it's ruby color slowly draining . With a huff , the weapon was lowered . " Ekko , what're you doing here , you creep . "

Taliyah let out a hum in response , her bright golden eyes inspecting him . Her lover — a man of wisdom . If only he understood . . . The cosmic goddess tilted her head , small smile crossing her star covered cheeks .

" Ekko , how would they even figure out without getting a little dirty ? The Queen would never soil her hands . " Yet again , how would Taliyah know ? A being of curiosity couldn't possibly know as much as her teacher .
