Lake Burlinskoye Location: Altai Krai, Western Siberia

Lake Burlinskoye is a pink lake in Siberia with a train that runs through it. The train collects sediment from the lake bed using harvesting tools, as a part of a salt harvesting operation dating back to 1768. This method yields 65,000 tons of salt each year.

viewing queer identities as “this is the label that makes me happy and feels most accurate now” rather than “this is who I am, was, and always will be” will definitely take the pressure off, friends. changing your mind is proof that you have one.

Headcanon that the eye feeds Jon information about the social queues his autism is missing but it doesn’t change how Jon acts because every time he just goes “What? That is stupid I don’t believe that’s what a neurotypical person would do” so he ignores it.

Au Where Everything Is The Same Except Mabel And Dipper Have Been Going To Gravity Falls Every Year Before

au where everything is the same except mabel and dipper have been going to gravity falls every year before the show takes place since like kindergarten.

its a pretty simple premise that derives mostly from my desire to explore interpersonal relationships and the ways a place and people can change from a young child’s point of view. it doesn’t change canon that much either, admittedly, i just wanted to draw childhood friends stuff LOL. ill call it uhhhhhhhh every summer au.

The Magnus Archives is like the SCP Foundation if they didn't Secure. Or Contain. Or Protect for that matter. So really they're like if you went to the SCP Foundation begging for help with the monster that had been tormenting you and some tired British academic just sort of nodded and said "Fucked If True." And then proceeded to Kubrick stare at you every night in your sleep for the rest of your life.

A while back my pharmacist saw my deadname on my profile and accidentially called it out, he corrected and deleted my deadname from the system so only my preferred name shows up now. There was a crowd of people behind me, so as he hands over the pills he apologized, in equal tone and volume as when he called my deadname and lied saying it's been a long day and he didn't mean to call out -his own- name. I quietly told him it was fine and he didn't need to do that for my sake.

His response: "No, it's my name now."

I went to the pharmacist yesterday, his nametag is my deadname. He informed me he's immigrating and in the process he's changed his first name to my deadname to have an English sounding name. That's why he's now able to get a reprint of his nametag to be my deadname. And repeated, with the intense seriousness of someone who is going to die on this hill: "It's mine now. Not yours. I'm taking." His tone indicated that decision is final.

Bro literally deadnamed me once, and has committed to flat out stealing my deadname. It's his now. Legally. Officially. I over heard his co-workers call him by the name.

I miss tma season one when Jon puts his whole archivussy into a statement and then ends it by saying "yeah lmao this probably didn't happen. I asked Martin to look into it and he found nothing because he sucks and I hate him. Tim got me more information, probably because he's such a fucking slut. Sasha was also very useful. I love Sasha because she's so dependable and trustworthy. Nothing bad will ever happen to Sasha to make her less dependable or trustworthy."

hm. s3 was chock full of Shit Happening To Jon. he was kidnapped multiple times, held at knifepoint, his hand was severely burned, he got sent to the forever falling dimension, almost got skinned alive, half of the shit that happens to him in s3 all happen within the same week, and it was just generally not a fun time. then the unknowing happens and he literally gets blown up and sent into a coma.

for six months.

sure, a lot of what happens to Jon is partially because he's running headfirst into danger, but a lot of it also just happens to him. people know him as The Archivist, and decide to hurt him. kidnapping, mostly.

but for six months, he is completely unconscious, mostly dead, unable to move, speak, see, hear, or call out for help. he has never been morr vulnerable, more utterly helpless. and the only people that visit him seem to have been Martin, and Oliver.

Oliver, who is an avatar, who knows him as The Archivist, and.... doesn't wish him harm. He was just curious about him, and seemed to have been told to be there, so he went. And in his own way, he even saved him. He even chose to call him by his actual name.

After everything that happened to him, the one inhuman thing to visit him at his most helpless, didn't want to hurt him. He helped. I already understood Jon's thoughts about not smiting Oliver, but this makes it hit harder, I think.

Also do you think martin ever worried about something coming for Jon while he was comatose. Do you think he worried about that.

UGH avatar!Tim i love you sm. Desolation, End, WHATEVER. i will take anything. Tim just please come back i miss you (i have finished the series more than a month ago).

hey guys did you know that um. did you know. first of all did you know i'm losing my mind, secondly, do y'all remember in tma how when someone reads a written statement, they don't really Stop unless they're interrupted? and they read the whole thing easy cheesy, no issues with reading whatever words are there? like. jon literally could read french for a whole statement and was Fine. granted, that's Jon, but like nobody else struggled with pronunciations and whatnot (that i can recall)

presumably, this is an eye thing. either as employees of the institute, or because everyone there is just also eye-aligned in some degree (melanie had the ghost hunting show, the eye is fond of martin, etc)

and then there's tim in season 3 ep 86

[Sigh] Statement of… uh, Benjamin Hatendi… Hateendi? Regarding a… [papers rustling] a blanket. Dead friend. Monster. Regarding his unavoidable and gruesome end. How he tried to hide. He couldn’t. Statement is from… 1983, March 2nd. And I guess… [long sigh] I guess I’m doing this one. Tim Stoker. Archival assistant… Archival prisoner at the Magnus Institute.

correct me if im wrong but i don't recall anyone struggling with pronunciations before this bit. but that's not even the biggest thing here, that's just a lil Taste, a lil Flavor.

note the phrasing there. "Regarding his unavoidable and gruesome end." why would he say this when the written text on the statement says this:

Uh, right. Benjamin Hatendi’s account of… [rustling pages] oh for… a, a strange encounter. Er, statement date, March 2nd, 1983. Melanie King recording. Apparently.

"a strange encounter". that's it. nothing about an unavoidable death, just a "strange encounter". Tim Why Did You Say That.

why would our dear timothy bimothy, who is being pushed to the brink, who is becoming rapidly more depressed and losing hope, say this?

this isn't the only time he's said some weirdly grim shit tho (ep 104)

There was never really any hope for me, though, was there? This was how it was always going to go.

and then there's this bit from elias apparently having Looked into tim (also 104)

TIM All right, hit me with your X-ray eyes then, boss. What do you see? ELIAS Disruption. An unpredictable, angry man with nothing left but the desire to feel in some way revenged. TIM [Sarcastic] Ooh, terrifying! Surely only magic could have let you see so deep inside my very soul.

"nothing left" but the desire to feel revenged. and tim doesn't dispute this, because it's true.

when he first joined the institute he did so in order to look for answers about danny, but then he stopped seriously looking. and now that the circus is back, this is all the drive he has left. not looking for answers, just wanting revenge. closure. an end, if you will.

this is Literally It For Him. a couple lines later he suggests elias kill him, he's At The Breaking Point.

he is so tired, he's lost all hope, and he's saying all this grim shit about "unavoidable death" and "this is how it was always going to go" like hmmmm sounds familiar doesn't it. DOESN'T IT (<- is going insane)

(ep 11) [....] despite the rapid response of the paramedics and how much of his medical history I had immediately to hand, there was nothing I could do to save him. (ep 11) I have no responsibility to try and prevent whatever fate is coming for you. Based on my previous experience, such a thing is likely impossible anyway,[....] (ep 121) There. That was it. That was our fate; where we would always be.

hmmmm sounds a bit like oliver huh? everyone's favorite ex-accountant avatar of the end?? right??

but then there's this last bit i have from ep 86.

why did he stop reading the statement

Statement. “My parents never let me have a nightlight. I was always afraid, but they were ju–” Ugh, this is stupid.

why did he do that. again, correct me if im wrong but when else has someone just Stopped Reading like that without someone or something else interrupting them? why could tim just stop himself?

my theory is this: at this point, tim is completely gone from being aligned with the eye. he no longer seeks to know what happened to danny, he just wants closure. he doesn't wanna do any statement work, and he keeps mentioning these tidbits about hopelessness and the inevitability of terrible events, specifically death.

the eye isn't compelling him to read the statements like it does the others, because it doesn't have as strong a hold anymore. the grip is slipping from him. and by the time the unknowing rolls around, maybe it's lost him for good. maybe he finally fell into a different power he never meant to serve, and yet, he does.

and maybe. just maybe. because i'm so not in denial. but MAYBE. he did die in the unknowing. but maybe he got better.

basically end!tim truthers rise up, this is how end!tim kayaking with his bf oliver banks can still win, etc etc I'm Going Feral <3

GOING RABID OVER ARCHIVIST MARTIN WITH ASSISTANT JON JUST THROWING HIMSELF HEADFIRST INTO DOING WHATEVER PLAN MARTIN HATCHES

Possibly unpopular opinion, I don't think Sasha would make a good Archivist or at least not in the way Gertrude was hoping she would be. Sasha is too similar to Jon when it comes to self preservation and is too aligned with the Eye.

Out of all the original archival crew the one that would most successfully fill Gertrude's role is probably Martin and here's my reasoning.

• Gertrude and Martin relied on people underestimating them as a strategy.

• Martin has been able to catch Elias off guard/get a drop on him multiple times.

• not Eye aligned so less likely to fall to curiosity.

• S5's "kill bill".

• burning the statements.

• was able to survive the horrors and find creative solutions.

If I think of more I'll add it.

Nothing's gonna come out of this probably but. I want to make OCs, right. And in this scenario there is a guy or a girl or a person and this person has a dead wife. And that isn't great. They're very upset. So they pray to a god, whatever god they can, and they offer up anything to revive said dead wife. They summon this god up from whatever place he's been vibing in and begs him to resurrect their wife. And the god, surprisingly, says yes, and gives them a list of things to accomplish before the resurrection ritual can begin. And the mortal is ecstatic! Like hell yeah they're getting their wife back. And the god follows him along for the ride. Because hey, free entertainment.

Meanwhile, the god is beside himself in panic because he did Not mean that. He was incredibly flustered, woken up from a centuries long nap, and met with the face of a very disheveled but incredibly attractive widower and spat out the first thing he could think of. And now they're both in a legally binding contract wherein the human is sent on a goose chase to complete like 12 impossible tasks and the god is trying to figure out how to raise someone from the dead while trailing the human around to make sure they don't die from the very fatal list of quests the god sent them on to stall

Screenshot of a poem. Text reads: You told your disciples, yes— but did you tell your parents? Did you sit them down at a table, try not to let it get awkward, try to get it over with. "Mom, Dad, I'm — going to die." How long was the silence? Did Mary wrap her arms around you like you were a child, like she hadn't much since you'd gone away, with all the force of the tears she'd save for after you left again? Or did they cry then and ask what they'd done wrong, and did you reassure them, "it's just a few days, and then I'll be better than before," "I'm not the first to do this—you've met Lazarus, right?" Did you wonder if they already knew, if they'd seen the signs in the myrrh, in every screaming crowd, in the way you watched Joseph drive nails into wood? Did they ask you how long you'd known, and did you know how to say forever?

This is the video of one of my favorite youtubers. He does publicity stunts where he dresses up as a statue and spooks people, it's all wholesome fun. Recently his home in Greece, where he lives, was struck by a terrible storm which wiped everything out. Unfortunately his channel and means of making income were also hacked and he lost his source of income. The video above proves that this is him, and explains his whole situation. He has links in the description to where you can support him, and I am asking you, as someone who's this man's videos has helped a lot over the years, to help me support him.

The Jedi make a lot more sense if you look at them through the lens of harm reduction.

A lot of criticisms run along the lines of "they lost the moral high ground by joining the war" and framing the discussion like that misses the point entirely.

It was never about having an arbitrary amount of Good Guy Points at the end of the day. It was about lessening harm as much as their position allowed.

In fact, if you go into any discussion about how to help people with the idea that there is a moral high ground, you've already lost! You are having the wrong conversation. Keep walking.

There is no good or bad here. Just people.

I don't want people to do hard drugs, because it's bad for them. However, I cannot wave a magic wand and make people stop wanting to do drugs. You know what I can do, though? Support a needle exchange program!

I don't want people to do hard drugs, but I've accepted that a needle exchange will alleviate suffering. Does increasing access to harmful drugs go against my personal sense of ethics? Sure! Does that change the fact that needle exchanges help people survive long enough until they can get into treatment? Nope!

The war was never gonna vanish if the Jedi resisted being drafted. They realized that. They understood that the way they could do the most good, spare the most lives, was by accepting the appointment and having some power to effect change rather than none at all.

Is it a perfect solution? Of course not! But harm reduction is about accepting that there are no perfect solutions, and that you are sometimes gonna have to do shit you don't personally like in order to help.

Helping people is not about your ego. It doesn't matter how you feel about the zoomed-out conceptual view, because your personal feelings have no bearing on someone else's suffering.

Anytime the argument drifts into bleating about how peacekeepers shouldn't fight, the thread is lost.
