First Art of a new year!
So, I misunderstood something @marmarthehatterverse said and drew this for her instead of what she actually asked for. She still liked the sketch/WIP I showed her, so I quick colored it.
Fixed a couple major things....and still fixing minor things...Will probably find more time to work on this in a couple days.
I miss them, and the new movie is coming out in a month....It's a mess, but I'll be putting more effort into it tomorrow....when my shoulder is rested and I have slept.

If I had a nickle for every time I had an in the closet gay captain as my favorite character from a tv show named James, I'd have two nickles, which isn't a lot but it's weird it's happened twice.
Can we agree that Montgomery "Scotty" Scott (more aimed towards the TOS version) has to be secretly super strong? He's chief engineer, that shit has got to require some strength!
Imagine a scenario that someone larger needs to be carried to medbay and when Scotty goes to do it, Kirk goes:
"Oh let me help you with that" and Scotty, lovely Scotty, just shakes his head and says
"Don't worry about that captain" and fucking LIFTS THEM BY HIMSELF
Kirk and the others are like "WHEN THE HELL COULD HE DO THAT?!?!"
Scotty is secretly super strong and gets incredibly bashful when someone compliments him about it.
I love that fucking Scottish chief engineer so much...
“If I had a Time Machine I’d stop 9/11” if I had a Time Machine I’d tell William Shatner he wasn’t fat and even if he had a little bit of chub it doesn’t matter, scripts of episodes that poked fun at his weight would suddenly end up burned and everyone who chastised him would get hit with a water balloon from the rafters. Like I disagree with so many of his takes as a person and I disagree with how he’s allegedly talked to people and treated people but like no one treated him nice either.

So before I watched Star Trek, there seemed to be this ongoing joke about Captain Kirk being a “fatass” like Family Guy, Epic Rap Battles of History and I think even Robot Chicken (don’t quote me on this) made this joke and I don’t get it. Like is Kirk “fat” by 60s standards or does William Shatner just gain weight as the show goes on because you know, he’s fucking human ?
Like I even saw a Reddit post from 2 years ago trying to claim Kirk is “chubby” and “wearing a girdle” and using these photos as reference and he looks like a regular fucking dude so I’m confused. Like he’s not fat and even if he was that’s not a bad thing at all so I don’t get why certain fans have been assholes about this for so fucking long. Like he’s fine. He looks like he’s average weight. And then there’s claims his shirts just make him “look fat” like the green shirt, when he literally looks the same.
I don’t know maybe I’m crazy but Kirk looks absolutely fine and even if he was “fat” that shouldn’t be something to riff on, especially now in 2025 but people still do it.
i would genuinely trust bones, kirk and spock from tos with my life. even if it just ends up with “he’s dead jim” “fascinating” it would have been an honor

He won second place in an all-Vulcan music competition for playing the lyre. When asked who took the first place he said “my father”.

Currently writing a fic post AOS Into Darkness where Jim wakes up at the end but instead of in the hospital is back at his first day at the academy with 3 years counting down to the events of the first movie.
Would anyone be interested in beta reading? The idea is that through his efforts he slowly becomes more like TOS Jim. Reach out, pls lmk, it’s in rough drafting right now and could use some eyes on it
The concept of Jim Kirk as science officer and Spock as captain cracks me up. There’s Spock trying to run a smooth logical operation and then there’s Jim “hold my beer” kirk in science running outlandish experiments just cause and driving Spock nuts.

Kirk bod appreciation #4: The Curves. The Back. Poetry in motion.
Here we honour the Kirk ‘hourglass’. The broad shoulders tapering into that lower back - and then flaring out again at those hips. Those HIPS. Those hips DO NOT lie. He has a broad back and such proportioning that one doesn’t always notice his hips aren’t so typically narrow, but stand him next to Bones or Spock - or even the girls - and just look at how endowed they are. Hot news: men have hips! And boy, is that hot. AND as if they weren’t gorgeous enough just existing in this flawless form, he actually swings them. Can we just correct another bro-ism: Kirk does not ‘swagger’. Kirk swings his hips. Like a sassy bih. This is one of the many reasons why James Kirk is special and utterly precious.
Season 3 is the icing on the cake: he fills out a little, everything fits that bit tighter, and WOW. Look at that TURN, and the peek of the taut, firm Tum™. Hello friend, welcome. Kirk has what one might call the ‘bubble tum’, like the ‘bubble butt’. Thicc from the back AND front. Indeed, the shrink-wrapped glutes go without saying - it is a crime that we are never gifted, despite the shirts ripping constantly, a single moment of those *pants* ripping. That ass not able to be contained, bursting for freedom like his nips in Amok Time (which didn’t at all have sexual connotations…NOT AT ALL). Spock blushing bright green. Bones rolling his eyes.
Now don’t be thinking these are just dribble-posts, like the bros do over the girls; no. This lightly humoured appreciation is partly in response to those who criticise Kirk’s weight and build. Criticise WHAT I hear you cry??! I know. I don’t get it either. So here we are. Kirk, our intelligent, compassionate bookworm; our soft, smiling, curvaceous, chubby hunk who don’t need no six pack to be Jim Kirk. It’s part of his character; it’s part of his physical presence, how he moves, how he walks. How he proudly inhabits that bod - and what that says about him. He’s a man, he’s unbound; he’s his own version. He communicates, enviably, body confidence incarnate, while busting stereotypes and being utterly true. What an icon. We love him and celebrate his beauty inside and out.
