We miss him so much
Jazz: Y'know what I still liked? That whole 'looking for that scraphead Grimlock' in the sea of Rust with Cliffjumper!
Jazz: Ah, good ol' hornhead. He was a complete pain in the neck and he didn't know what stealth was if it bit him - lemme tell you, how many times I had to pull his skidplate out of the fire in the Sea, lemme tell ya!
Jazz: And then, then we found the map in the ancient vaults, and we saw Earth and he just HAD to visit, and he was one of the first to sign up for ol' Prime's mission there, and I remember waving to him, and...
Jazz: And...
Jazz:...
Jazz: I still miss him.

It's Only A Paper Moon - Chiemi Eri
Chiemi Eri, born January 11, 1937, died February 13, 1982) was a Japanese popular singer and actress.
Eri was born as Chiemi Kubo on January 11, 1937 in Tokyo, Japan. She started her singing career at the age of 14 with her version of "Tennessee Waltz." She sang American songs such as "Jambalaya" & "Come on-a My House". Eri started her career as an actress similar to Misora Hibari. Eri, Misora and Izumi Yukimura formed a trio. In her concerts, she was supported by Nobuo Hara's jazz band. - Wiki
(A personal note: This is my favorite song in the world and when she sings the lyrics in Japanese it becomes even more beautiful. An interesting lady, she was only sixteen when this was recorded!)
Something to chill to
The song this tumblr is named after. It was written by Jerry Gray (music) and Carl Sigman (lyrics) in 1940. Glenn Miller and His Orchestra recorded it as aĀ Bluebird 78 rpm single on April 28th of the same year, and it was released in June.
The name of the song comes from PEnnsylvania 6-5000, orĀ 736-5000, the phone number of Hotel Pennsylvania, New York City. Glenn Miller and His Orchestra was one of several jazz bands that frequently performed at the hotelās main restaurant, theĀ Cafe Rouge, which feautured a ballroom to dance in. Sadly, the Cafe Rouge no longer operates, with the space being converted into a venue for megacorps and sport events.
The phone number still works: after adding the area code 212, you will hear the song in the background as the hotelās automated message plays.

I was blessed to be part of such a wonderful and warm performance yesterday afternoon at Marjorie Eliot's apartment. Marjorie opens the door of her apartment to anyone and everyone up for some live jazz music and some love, she is so grand for keeping the Harlem Renaissance tradition. As I saw her walk around her apartment making everyone feel welcomed and comfortable I couldn't stop thinking how big and empowering she is. It was a spiritual and lively experience and I recommend visiting her parlor jazz salon on Sundays 4-6pm.Ā

This year, besides the up-beat tracks and ballads weāve got group of mid-tempo entries which all happen to have a bit dark, soul, jazz sounds in them. I love them all but I know some will go down in the semifinals. Especially when theyāre almost all in the 1st semifinal...Which one is your favourite?Ā
They appear in the alphabetical order:Ā
AUSTRIA - CESĆR SAMPSON - NOBODY BUT YOU (1st semifinal)
Iāve warmed up to this slowly but gotta admit that thereās something in this. Nice beat, stands out with gospel/soul sound, he sings well - quite like his voice! I see this qualifying if only the live show goes well.Ā
BELGIUM - SENNEK - A MATTER OF TIME (1st semifinal)
Iām one of the rare ones who donāt get this nor the hype around Belgiumās entry this year. I see that Sennek is talented, she has a vision, this is arty instead ofĀ āfast foodā music. This is lyrically heavy but itās balanced with the light melody. Itās interesting, sophisticated but Iām still waiting for my wow moment with this. I see this qualifying.
BULGARIA - EQUINOX - BONES (1st semifinal)
I kind of ignored Bulgaria this year due to the similarity other entries. But been watching some reaction and fan favorite videos and I quite like it as well! This has a very nice sound with multiple layers including the different vocals that makes it to stand out. Itās heavy, haunting and dark. Iām really looking forward to see this live. I believe strongly that this will qualify.Ā
CROATIA - FRANKA - CRAZY (1st semi)
Croatia took a hit recently it was revealed that Crazy existed before sung by another artist. Franka enlightened that the two songs had same producers and thatĀ āCrazyā is the original one. Not sure where allegations stand at the moment though. This is jazzy - I like its beat. I like this a lot but Iām afraid this will fall being too generetic unless they really nail it with the live show. Which they might be able to do because the music video is stunning! However Croatia will perform just before Austria which I found better - Iām worried.
LATVIA - LAURA RIZZOTTO - FUNNY GIRL (2nd semifinal)
I fell in love with this for the first time I heard it. I know itās not a winning song or even qualifying one but Iām liking it. Itās sexy, playful - thereās this 007 sound in it. But I think as much as I love it I donāt see it standing out enough to qualify. Only being in the second semifinal might save Latvia since Thursday live show is missing almost all mid-tempo tracks.Ā
GUYS, GUYS THIS IS PRIMUS DAMN JAZZ š©āØ
The video is not mine, but from the moment I saw it I couldn't stop seeing Jazz here lmao
i went on a deepdive after one video of an item soundin like a jazz solo ā desperation, this glorious metronome of videos has now fueled my mind for the better or worse
For the Valentines: Iād love to see something with Marvel Jazz, Prowl, and Inferno, maybe with the unromantic sentiment like, at least weāre alive, Valentine (apologies for how evil this is lol)! āarceespinkgun
Honestly the hardest part of this wasn't the three dudes but the fact that I had no clue how to depict this in a drawing I hope this is close enough?
