regulus was terrified of being a bad dad to harry.

he worried, and he paced, and half the time he panicked if he was left alone with harry for even two minutes for james to go to the kitchen and bring back a bottle.

james was phenomenal with him, a natural. james was born to be a father. lily was an amazing doting mother, it all seemed to come so natural to her. mary always made harry squeal with excitement the second she walked into a room. but regulus felt as if he could never be a good father. he never had a good example, so how could he be?

so when harry potter was eleven months old, and took his first steps towards regulus, who at the time was not even paying attention to him. and james and lily screamed in excitement, scaring harry and causing him to not only just walk to regulus, but run to him.

well, regulus figured he must of not been doing to awful of a job.

and as he held a now crying harry who couldn’t understand why everyone was screaming and being so loud, and clung to his papa with tear stained cheeks and soft coos. regulus decided it didn’t matter how terrified he was of being a father, because he already was one, and harry seemed to think he was doing a pretty good job.

James and Sirius lost a bet with Mary and now they’re wearing adorable play boy girls costumes.

Regulus POV

As he turned the corner, Regulus saw James standing there, in the moonlight, staring up at the stars. He looked so peaceful. Slowly, he turned to leave, but the other boy called out, “stay.” And so he did. He would do anything for James, no matter what, which was why he was here in the first place.

To say goodbye.

“James,” regulus said, his voice coming across normal, even though he felt like a raging storm inside, messy and strange, but empty. “Regulus,” James replied, turning to face him, “I haven’t seen you in ages.” Regulus realised that this was a bad idea, he couldn’t do it, but he was here, so he spoke, “I know. I just wanted to say goodbye.” James went to speak, opening that beautiful goddamn mouth of his, but regulus kept talking, “I wanted to say that you were the only thing that brought me true happiness, that you were the reason I believed in love, and that I still love you. So much James, so much.” He could feel tears forming, but he fought to keep them from falling. “Reggie, whatever you’re going to do, don’t.” Said James, taking a step towards regulus, his face broken into a million pieces. Oh, he could always tell when something was wrong, when stuff just wasn’t right, hopefully he can find someone who appreciates that just as much as regulus does. “I can’t James,” he said, trying not to just give in and run towards him, “I have to.” And then, he apparated away

James’ POV

Suddenly, regulus was gone, leaving James standing out there, in the cold, confused, sad and broken. It hurt to see him, his darling regulus, after all those months, but he still shone just as brightly to James. Something was wrong though, that much he could tell, and he knew he had to check on him. So James went back inside the flat he shared with Sirius and found the one thing he kept of regulus’, the one object that was so familiar to both of them, that they would know it even after death, a golden snitch. He grabbed it and whispered a spell, and it started tugging him in a direction.

James ended up at the entrance of a cave, the treacherous waters crashing against the rocks, this had to be the wrong place, but the snitch kept tugging, only this time stronger, so he followed it. It got to a point where he had to conjure a boat, and sail through the water, towards an island, where he could see a silhouette of a person being dragged down by cold, mutilated hands, and he jumped out, running towards the other boy. “REGULUS,” he shouted, “REGGIE.” He got to the body, and dragged it out of the grip of the creatures, but it was limp and cold, his lips blue and his face deathly pale.

As James cradled the body of the boy he loved, he sobbed, and screamed, the sounds tearing themselves out of his throat. Why had he done this? Why had his beautiful, darling, lovely regulus done this? Later, much later, he would find out, and his already broken heart would break even more, but he didn’t know that at that moment, so he kept screaming, and sobbing, and holding his one true love.

james defo had a crush on regulus in 6th year but in 7th year when he started dating lily, it was all forgotten. regulus had a crush on james in 2nd-4th year but after sirius ran away, regulus hated james and he had enough problems to deal with at home anyways. at least thats how i would see canon jegulus. its unrequited on both ends and they liked each other at different times. i also think james' crush was more attraction+sympathy for regulus' situation

James meeting Regulus' friends for the first time as his official boyfriend was definitely a big thing for everyone involved except Regulus. Sirius already knew Barty and Evan from when they would hang out at the Black household so he just decided to terrorise the living shit out of James telling him that they're "super protective" "super scary" and that "their approval means the world to Reggie". Remus just decided to go along and presented Pandora (who he knew from a study group) as the ultimate boss of mean girls. And when James almost shaking walked into the coffee shop they had arranged to meet up what he saw was Barty putting salt in Evans coffee, Evan drinking and spitting said coffee all over Pandora and her just throwing little rocks at him

OKAY HEAR ME OUT I GOT AN IDEA. So we all know that Walburga would get absolutely furious whenever she saw Sirius receiving a letter from an owl,knowing its from one of his "dirty,traitor friends" so she would get furious at him and punish him even though it wasn't really his fault. Sirius never really told the rest of the Marauders cause he didn't want to worry them, but they understood that they should only write to him sparsely. One time, James sent a whole ass broom as a gift to Sirius, and it arrived a few days after Sirius had run away from the house. Fortunately, Regulus took notice of the owl before his parents did and decided to send it back to the Potter household, not without writing a letter, first absolutely cursing Potter. James didn't expect Regulus to bring the broom back let alone write and he got so shocked by just how beautiful Siriu's little brother's handwriting is and his flowery choice of words even while writing an angry letter. And BOOM letter correspondence and then they fell in love

Regulus absolutely ADORES cats, but because of his father's allergies, he never got to have one of his own when he was young. When he moved in with James, the boy was so SMITTEN that the moment Reggie turned up in the house with a small kitty and looked at James all full of hope and excitement he couldn't say NO to keeping the cat. That however ended with James having to think up a BILLION different excuses to keep Sirius outside of his and Reggie's apartments "oh you know the electricity is broken" "why not go out the weather is so lovely" (it was indeed raining). Regulus found it all endlessly amusing and even more amusing to him was the absolute look of horror and betrayal in Siriu's face when he saw the little black kitten for the first time

Remus,Lily,Dorcas,Regulus, and Pandora have a little book club, and they just meet up and get all pretentious about different books it's honestly amazing. At some point however it did evolve into just monthly gossip and roasting sessions where everyone was telling their relationship drama and getting feedback "For the last time Lupun I don't wanna hear about you and my brother fucking". "Dorcas, I think you should stay prioritising yourself and expressing your desires to Marlene."No, Pandora, I understand where you're coming from, but I think you should break up with him already." Said partners have tried multiple times to overhear on these conversations, and they always end up getting found out and hexed

James Potter had the most embarrassing musically phase. He did every trend conceivable with a lot of passion, too, and those videos are honestly Remu's favourite things in the world. He planned ahead (because he's a mastermind like that when it comes to embarrassing his friends) and downloaded every single musically James ever made before he deleted his account when he suddenly developed a sense of self presentation and embarassement. Whenever James pissies Remus or tries to argue with him about something Remus mutters a song James has made a musically too or says "Reggyyyy I have something so interesting ro show you" in the most annoying tone and James just caves.

Whatever you do today, absolutely don't think of Jinx and Ekko as a Jegulus variant (they make me sick and I wanna die)

James has a promise ring that Regulus gave him. After they broke up, he kept it safe in one of his drawers, never fully able (or willing) to get rid of it. He never intended to wear it again, he married, had a kid for Christ's sake but once he got the news about Regulus' death he started wearing it again in a chain and kissing it whenever he though of Reggie. Everyone expected Lily to be angry, devastated, at least a little bit jealous, but all Lily did was calm down James every time he woke up from a nightmare crying , screaming Regulus' name

Regulus is a little shit and when he and James started hooking up, he always downplayed how much he liked him. Imagine HOW MORTIFIED he was when James opened his sketchbook to look at a drawing of a pretty flower he glanced at and ended up finding numerous sketches Regulus had done of James,some of them even dating back to before the two had started being romantically involved. Not only that, there was also so much delicacy,details, and softness to the way Regulus captured the glint of Jame's eyes,his dimples,his messed up hair. Regulus tried to convince him that "it was just practice Potter" and that "you just always happened to be there Potter" but James had the most SMUG LITTLE GRIN on his face for the rest of the day

The Slytherin Skittles have the TIME OF THEIR LIVES bullying little kids on Roblox. Every time Regulus is in a bad mood, he just logs in and makes cocky 12-year-olds cry. The first time James heard him (after he woke up in Reggie's place one day), he was so SHOCKED because he had never heard Regulus-sarcastic-side-remarks-Black curse that much. Also, that kind of online bullying is classical Rosekiller activity. They just get on Tiktok or Twitter and write the most random controversial shit ("yall, i think democracy is kinda overrated??") and watch shit unfold

James once lost his glasses and when he went to kiss his beautiful boyfriend he ended up kissing said boyfriend's brother. Remus was extremely nonchalant, Sirius was freaking out ("Moony I promise it meant NOTHING" "Pads I fucking know") and Regulus almost murdered both James and his brother. He also refused to kiss James until he brushed his teeth for 5 minutes straight while he was staring daggers at him, because "I'm not kissing lips that have previously KISSED MY BROTHER that's basically an indirect kiss and this family isnt about the incest anymore". James almost cried

Regulus Black definitely had the biggest crush on James during his third year and kept staring at him like a little idiot and one time when James took off his shirt during Quidditch practice Regulus tripped and fell on his face in front of said crush 😭 His school years are truly just a bunch of embarrassing mistakes one after the other

Regulus knew James would fight for him no matter what. That he would put himself in harm's way for Regulus, Death Eaters, and Dark Lord be damned. The only way he could think of to protect James was to absolutely make him hate him. Regulus put the performance of a lifetime, insulting Jame's best friends, saying horrible things about muggleborns and halfbloods and being a true imitation of his mother. James could only just whisper "please don't do this," but when Regulus cruelly insulted Remu's lycanthropy, he just couldn't do it anymore. James found comfort in Lily's arms, knowing that she too was heartbroken by Mary. Regulus had to watch the man he loved being in a relationship with the girl he told him not to worry about thinking that if James moved on so quickly, their relationship probably didn't mean anything to him. James had to go through the rest of his life thinking that Regulus hated him and trying very hard to hate him back but absolutely failing, because when he closed his eyes at night all he could think about was dark black curls and stars
