Got into the marauders fandom recently, had to draw my favorite boy. Adding shape the the hair is new but I like how it came out

Okay nobody send me death threats. It's not that serious! Here are my Marauders Hot Takes:

• Jily and WolfStar are the best ships

• I love Jegulus but it doesn't make sense in canon, but almost nothing else does anyway so who cares

• The marauders would've bullied people in real life because they bullied people in canon- I do think they also would've grown up and apologized for it (except maybe Sirius)

• Snape is a flawed complex character but he bullied children and that will never be okay. He's also literally racist and misogynistic so..

• Harry is a better person than James. He wasn't perfect, but he didn't bully anyone (only had petty rivalries) and was angry when he found out how James treated Snape and that Sirius still thought it was funny. Harry also literally payed for Fred and George to start their business. I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL HARRY IS JUST BETTER

• I will never read All The Young Dudes. I'm sorry. I just don't want to read it

• Rosekiller is a fun ship but you cannot make them good people. Barty literally killed his father in cold blood. Headcanons are fine, but it's just better and more likely that they chose their side of the war knowingly and willingly.

• Sirius is an asshole. He has so many good qualities, but he's an asshole. When he's watered down to just sad, or just fun it's never as good. He needs flaws. That goes for all the marauder

All this being said, write what you want. Read what you want. Enjoy what you like. It's just fiction and fandom and I really don't take it as seriously as this sounds

Sirius in his head whenever he was told to pray as a child:

Forgive me father for i have sinny-sin-sinned

James knotted the rope as tight as he could. The fraying fibers cut into Peter’s shoulders like twine making a hay bale bulge, but he couldn’t help the urge to check that Harry was still asleep upstairs.

His eye twitched the longer it was trained on Peter’s pale, sweaty face. And his fists clenched tightly around the wands in each hand. He didn’t miss the way grey eyes flickered down to ebony wood. He was scared, James realized with a bit of a start. He was shaking in the chair like a cornered animal.

His sandy hair was choppy, like someone had taken shears to it as a punishment. His face was breaking out, splotches of red like hives throughout his skin. His teeth were yellowing, and his nails were caked in dirt and overgrown.

He began to cry, and James’ curiosity quickly changed to fury.

“What are you weeping about?” he demanded, watching his volume. Peter wailed, only stopping when he bowed his head at James’ pointed wand at his nose.

“I’m sorry!” he stammered through each syllable.

James thought of Snape and Regulus answering vaguely whenever he asked about Peter. Saying he was serving Voldemort from one manor to the next. Staying hidden for the sake of keeping Sirius locked away. He briefly wondered if they’d held back more information to spare him the feeing he had in that moment.

Lily’s face appeared in front of him, the walls of their old home like blurry shadows behind her. He didn’t hear anything when her mouth moved, but he recognized the terror in her eyes. The tears that had fallen as she’d said goodbye.

“How could you do it?” he asked, hollow to Peter’s wide, fretful eyes.

“He made me,” Peter pleaded. The fingers of his left hand wriggled. “He made me vow to serve him until my death.” He shivered, as if the memory he’d conjured up made him weary. James felt like he was back in front of the television. “An unbreakable vow.”

James felt his heart break. It caught him off guard, and he sought to figure how it could have splintered even more. Instead, he stuffed a cloth napkin in Peter’s flapping mouth.

“I hadn’t asked you to do so much,” he waved his wand and watched as thin strings of silvery magic wrapped around Peter like cords of wire. He looked his betrayer in the eye, “Funny how you’ve made everything worse for yourself just on your own.”

He heard light taps above them, signaling his son’s rise.

Omg I just saw something that mentioned firebolt as a Jily ship name off handed. But holy cow could you imagine???

Fire like her hair and bolt like he does on a broom. Plus you know it is the name of a broom.

And the “fire” (lightning) bolt that marks their son’s skin after their death….

Thinking about how I know so much about a bunch of dead, gay, non-canon compliant characters. The best part is that I can still learn more about them because it’s ALL made up and there’s so many creative people out there who keep writing about them.

I’d also like to mentions the Pinterest pins I keep seeing that say “Marauders fan when you express your opinions” or “The Marauder fandom when you have a hc that doesn’t match theirs”

And then their headcanons are all the same: everyone is straight. Their OTP is Jily, and I’m NOT dogging on Jily, it’s an adorable ship, but they make it like every other straight ship in existence. Simultaneously, these are the same ppl replying to comments on their pins that say “why? /gen” and the reply is always a variation of “honestly I hate wolfstar like it’s such a dumb ship”

Isn’t that… hypocritical?? Are you not hating on opinions and headcanons yourself? Obviously, this is a generalization, and there are some ppl that have respectful opinions that are overshadowed by the ppl like this who have either non-sensical reason or none at all.

This will probably be controversial, but I feel like it needs to be talked about. (Marauders fandom edition part 1?)

Before I say anything else, I want to preface this by saying that everyone can have their ideas and headcanons about characters, you do you. So what I think we need to talk about is things like this:

“Omg no, the Marauders are definetly all straight, wydm??” “In canon they’re all cishet, can we keep that?” “Why is every single character some form of gay?”

In canon, little is known about them, but that’s not my point. This fandom is made up by 90% queer people that are making representation for themselves in media, because in said media, most of the “representation” is just one stereotypical queer person so the production team can claim they’re not homophobic. So when you take representation made by queer people for queer people and start packing it back into the same cishet boxes in was in before, you’re taking something that wasn’t made for you, and altering it to fit in a way you like. This sub-fandom wasn’t made by queer people so that straight people could take it and rewire it to fit them. Some *specific* instances of this are asexual Evan Rosier, trans Regulus Black, pansexual James Potter, and aroace Peter Pettigrew. While I’m not sure if this was representation some in this fandom made for themselves or others, it’s still important. What I’m really trying to say (it’s 12:36 at night, please) is that this fandom wasn’t made for straight people.

Marlene McKinnon isn’t headcanoned to be a lesbian so a weird uncle named Fred could fetishize her, she’s headcanoned to be a lesbian so that a 14 year old girl could see a character like her and feel seen. Sirius Black is not headcanoned to be gay/bi so a lonely wine mom could sexualize him. He’s headcanoned to be gay/bi so that a teenaged boy doesn’t feel so weird anymore.

Again, it’s okay to headcanon whoever to want to be this that or the other, that’s not what I’m addressing. It’s making everyone the same carbon copies of straight, white, and cis.

Heart of a Traitor - Peter Pettigrew

What makes the heart of a traitor? Peter Pettigrew should know. It was, after all, the heart beating in his chest, pumping the traitorous blood that kept him alive. Lately, his heart rate has felt less human, more rat-like. He was more rat-like. Years of being Scabbers has taken an obvious toll on him. The Peter Pettigrew that called himself a marauder, studied James’ quidditch moves, gleefully cast aguamenti to wake up Sirius, and snuck down to the kitchens to feed Remus’ never-ending appetite, was scarcely there anymore. Being a Death Eater on the run would do that to you. Now he was constantly twitching, flinching at every movement and loud sound and (possibly worst of all) reduced to acting as a servant of the one and only Severus Snape. Sitting down miserably in his cellar after a long day of being belittled and listening to thinly disguised quips about his dignity and intelligence, he reminisced. Of his long-gone Hogwarts days; days of freedom and laughs and pranks and never-ending homework. Back when he was Pete, one of the marauders, the good guys. Those were easily the happiest times of his life, when things were simple and happiness seemed to be everflowing. 

Evan Rosier being the most ethereal boy at Hogwarts and being still objectified, despite his strong and peculiar reputation, to the point he considers himself a doll cause no one ever seemed to treat him otherwise.

Not even seeing a problem in that, not caring and seeing no wrong in that perception of himself until he realises that Barty is different.

Barty Crouch Jr loves his worst and most flawed features. He loves the imperfections and the mess. He is truly obsessed with who he is.

And Evan falls in the most brutal way for him even more.

And they live happily ever after.
