I am a Kunikida had an emo phase truther and so just image Katai getting bribed by Dazai to give him a picture of Kunikida as a teenager.

Dazai's expecting dorky nerdy Kunikida in a suit or sweater vest at some school event.

What he gets instead is Kunikida yelling at a cop at a protest. His hair is in a high ponytail, with streaks of purple in it.

He's wearing a jean jacket filled with pins and patches. Fishnet gloves and flipping off said cop with one hand. And holding his notebook in the other.

Dazai is just staring, jaw dropped while Katai snorts in amusement.

Dazai's just like... I was robbed! We were robbed!

dazai having an off day and being quieter than usual when suddenly one of kunikidas pens rolls across the desks and bumps into dazai’s hand and transforms into a piece of paper that’s been folded into a heart

dazai fidgets a bunch, and you can usually tell who he feels close to based on who it is he fidgets . . . with.

he would mess with odasaku and ango's glasses at the bar, grabs kunikida's shoulders and arms and messes with the fabric of his clothes, plays around with atsushi's hair, and messes with just about every bit of chuuya. his hands, his gloves (on more than one occasion he's managed to slip one off and marvel at the ridiculous softness of his skin), his hair, his sleeves, (his face)

the only people to have reciprocated this are oda and chuuya. oda would mess with dazai's hair in the same way the latter now does atsushi's. chuuya would mess with dazai's hands during meetings, sometimes fidgeting as well with the topmost layer of his bandages.

just. dazai not knowing jackshit about normal physical touch and getting his fill in whatever lame ways he can

Whenever one of them feels down the other two take a day off and go to their favourite places and get favourite food or just stay at home cuddling

Kunikida who sees Chuuya and Dazai as completely and utterly human.

But also Kunikida witnessing loss infront of his eyes and breaking down over his own failures.

And Dazai and Chuuya holding Kunikida in their arms and having to remind him that he's human too.

I forgot that the headmaster is a person and can be buried...

Odasaku, Sasaki, and the orphanage headmaster are all buried in the same cemetery.

So Kunikida, Atsushi, and Dazai all run into each other grave visiting regularly and politely pretend they don’t. They never acknowledge the meaning behind the bouquets brought, even if all of them know the others know flower language. They never acknowledge the tear streaks down Atsushi’s face, or the solemn look on Kunikida’s. Atsushi never points out how the scent of whiskey is always a bit stronger on Dazai’s coat. They never acknowledge the location of their accidental meetings.

Sometimes Kunikida might offer to take them to get food, or Atsushi will offer a random hard candy from his pocket, on colder days Dazai might lend his coat. None of them are really themselves when faced with grief, and none of them will to hold it against each other.

Just the teens of the Agency being taken care of by the others.

Because yeah maybe Junichiro and Atsushi aren't that much younger than say Dazai and Kunikida. But to them and the rest they're still kids.

And this job can be a lot.

If no one else is injured, Yosano seeks them out first after a mission for a check up.

She's made sure they know her door is always open, to come to her even if they don't think a wound is serious.

Atsushi and Kyouka have to be told this more than anyone else. They still hesitate but Yosano always smiles when they approaches her, letting them know it's okay.

Atsushi's childhood and Kyouka's time in the Port Mafia taught them to show weakness. But somehow that rule falls aside when their in Yosano's office.

Because they trust her.

Naomi rarely ever needs to go to the infirmary. But she's had too and what she's seen terrified her. Yosano has ushered her in and listened, comforted her that she's safe now.

Kenji and Atsushi spend a lot of time in the infirmary.

Kenji is always sweet and bright but there's times even he feels scared and hurt. Junichiro holds it together but he breaks down when their alone.

Yosano stays by their sides, a kind presence in the chaos and hugs them close.

Ranpo always knows when to take them off a mission.

When Junichiro has a test coming up, when Kenji needs to rest after using his ability. He won't have them overworking themselves, no way.

Ranpo will instead having them guide him to his cases or get him snacks.

Or just straight up tell him to take a break. He's even used his ability to save them time on cases when there's too much going on.

"There you're done, now go take a nap."

Ranpo's memorised which snacks and sweets they like, and periodically drops them on their desks. Reminding Atsushi that it's a gift, he can have it and that it's okay.

Kenji gets the most, especially when he's had to use his ability a lot. Ranpo's not letting him go without having something to eat.

After the guild incident Naomi gets a huge bag of her favourites dropped on her desk.

Kunikida despite his schedule always makes time for them. He's lenient on paperwork (that doesn't apply to you Dazai!)

Junichiro hesitantly asks for his help on some homework and it turns into a full midday study session. And Kunikida wouldn't let him apologise for it.

He's contacted Kenji's family and gotten their permission to sign off on anything Kenji needs his parents permission on.

Kunikida comforts Atsushi when he makes a mistake. He reminds Kyouka that she made the right decisions.

He takes them out for dinner or cooks for them, and makes sure everyone's well fed and has enough food.

Kunikida had made himself all of their emergency contact. He has told them to call him whenever they need him. Rain or shine he will be there for them.

Dazai knows just what to say to lighten the mood. He reminds Kyouka that people like them can change. He will actually do his paperwork if he senses Atsushi's overwhelmed.

Reminds them all that one mistake doesn't destroy all their hard work. He'll praise their efforts and remind them of how far they've come.

Dazai notices when Kenji's smile isn't as bright and sits by his side. He shares stories that'll make them laugh and grins when he succeeds.

He's a calming presence when things get rough. Ruffling Atsushi's hair and patting Junichiro's head. Smiling kindly at Kyouka and Kenji.

He reminds them all that the world doesn't rest on their shoulders, they've got others to carry the weight.

And he'll break into their dorms to drag them out if he notices any of them isolating themselves.

Fukuzawa keeps an eye on everyone, but the younger members in particular.

He took Kyouka in and is her legal guardian. He signs off on anything that requires a parent or guardians permission.

He reminds Kyouka that people like them can change. Divulging into parts of his past to comfort her and Atsushi that he understands how they feel.

And doesn't see them any differently.

Makes sure Kenji can regularly vists his family. He's in close contact with them and keeps them updated.

Fukuzawa let's them nap in his office or take a breather in there.

His office is a safe space, tells them nothing and no one can harm you here. He checks up on them all whenever they're in the infirmary.

He has Junichiro's latest report card on the fridge and has told him on many occasions he's proud of him.

Fukuzawa keeps an eye out to ensure Atsushi and Kyouka are settling into the dorms okay. He has given them all his personal number for emergencies.

He checks on Naomi, especially after the incidents she was involved in and makes sure she's okay.

Doesn't allow any of them to overwork themselves. Has taken them to cat cafes on breaks when things get rough.

Because the Agency are family and they look out for their own.

We need to see chuuya convincing kunikida to make fun of dazai's height as a payback

Kunikida is 2 months younger than Dazai (Dazai is born in june and Kunikida is born in august). So when Dazai will hit 23 years old, Kunikida will remain 22

And then it would be chuuya and dazai that try to assure kunikida that he doesnt need to save everyone. That he didnt fail his ideals.

no but do you understand. kunikida being the one person who sees both dazai and chuuya as irrevocably human. dazai and chuuya each see the other as human but don't have the same faith in themselves. but kunikida. kunikida getting close with both of them, and finding the humanity in both of them. everyone else is so far away, so far below, everyone else sees the untouchable Double Black. everyone else sees the wake of their destruction, the craters left by chuuya's ability, the meticulous plans set up and executed by dazai, the infallible partnership that could level city blocks and take out entire organizations. everyone else sees them as gods, and dazai and chuuya see themselves as monsters, but kunikida--

kunikida sees them after the comedown. he sees dazai on his bad days, when he can't even drag himself out of bed, when it's more painful to hold himself back from jumping in the river than just letting the water fill his lungs. he sees chuuya post-corruption when everything hurts and dazai's touch is the only relief and he's vulnerable and willing to ask for help instead of just taking whatever it is he needs. he's seen them laugh at stupid jokes (both each other's and his own), he's seen them throw popcorn at each other during movie nights, he's seen them during the quiet moments when there's no performance, when they can just relax. he's seen chuuya without the hat and gloves, and he's seen dazai without the bandages. he's seen their pasts laid out on their skin in every scar. he's heard some of the stories and inferred others. he's seen them as Double Black too, of course - he saw the destruction caused after the dead apple incident and he's seen the darkness that lingers in dazai's eyes and he's seen chuuya come home with blood on his clothes and a grim expression on his face. but he's also seen chuuya half-asleep wearing a shirt that's too big for him and he's seen dazai light up at something as simple as kunikida making an extra cup of tea for him. he's seen the destruction caused in their wake, but he's also felt their hands on his skin, gentle, holding him like he's something precious. he's seen beneath the surface, and knows that they are neither gods nor monsters; they are just two humans who have never been told that is all they ever need to be.

touch starved atsushi who doesn't know how to ask for affection but has learned the following:

if he falls asleep on his desk near the end of his shift, kunikida will carry him back to his dorm (so now he pretends to fall asleep at least twice every week)

if he accidentally loses control of his ability, dazai will ruffle his hair to nullify it (so he starts controlling it enough to "accidentally" bring out random tiger features)

if he gets even a small bruise and yosano knows, she'll check it out and then pat his back after bandaging it (so he becomes more clumsy)

if he sits a little close to naomi during long boring meetings, she'll rest her head against his shoulder (so he makes sure to "accidentally" end up between her and juni or on her other side every time)

if he accidentally runs into president fukuzawa, the president will steady him by placing a hand on his shoulder (so he makes sure to almost bump into him at least once a week)

if he and kyouka are walking around in busy streets, kyouka will hold on to his wrist or hand or something to make sure that they dont go separated (so he gains an interest in all crowded shopping areas)

if he gives kenji a gift, kenji will thank him with a hug (kenji is very confused but pleased by his growing collection of random knick knacks given to him by atsushi)

if he says something funny, junichiro will chuckle and bump their shoulders (so he starts trying to be purposefully funny)

weirdly enough though... ranpo doesn't have a pattern but still he pops up awkwardly next to atsushi and bumps their shoulders or pats his back or something similar even though he isn't usually touchy... hmmm....

Dazatsu Month Day 1 and 8 (WIP)

“I can’t do this anymore Dazai-san!”

“Atsushi-”

“I have to leave. I have to get away.”

“Calm down. Atsushi!”

“Osamu! Please.”

“….”

“I have to go. If…if I stay here….Please Osamu. Let me go.”

“….Okay.”

Dazai Osamu let out a loud groan of boredom as he spun his chair. Gods does he hate paper work. How does Kunikida enjoy this? The six years he known this silly little man, he still couldn’t wrap his head around it. Paper work this, paper work that.

Ugh.

Dazai could feel goosebumps of disgust run up his tied up arms.

“Oi! Do your work you wast of bandages!” The said man snapped from his desk without looking up.

The older brown haired man gave a playful pout, not that the blond could see. “But Kunikida! If I do anymore, my arms will fall off. How could you be so cruel.”

He cooed in a tone he knew that would clawed into his brain. The rust brown eyes dances as the thin string of patience came close to snapping. Dazai counted the minutes as he always did, wanting to know if he could break his record from last time. The bandaged covered man’s lips curled into a facsimile smile, trying not to giggle.

“What a horrible co-worker I have.” He continued with a cheerful, mocking tone. His expression filled with pillory as he caught sight of trembling shoulders. Huh, only 30 minutes. One minute less this time. Have to do better next time. “Kuni-ida.”

“YOU DAMN BASTARD!” Kunikida Doppo snarl a like a tiger (Dazai twitched slightly. Tiger…no. He has to focus on this, not that.) as he slammed his hands on the table. The chair he was using flew backwards and hit the wall causing everyone to look up with a sigh. “HOW DARE-”

“Gentlemen. Enough.” A strong voice rang out, freezing everyone in place.

“President.” Yosano Akiki acknowledged standing up, pulling whining Ranpo Edogawa along. The others followed. “Is there something you need sir?”

The leader of the Armed Detective Agency, Fukuzawa Yukichi, gave her a sharp but not unkind nod as he used his wooden cane to help him glide into the room. Dazai shift his footing, trying to stand still, at the sight of the timeless ruler of their small kingdom of light walk tiredly towards the door of their work place. The ex-mafia, not the first time, cursed at the Decay of Angels for destroying the image of immortality that was once the great swordsman.

“We have a case. A string of mysteries murders that looked as if the victims were attacked by a wild animal.” The strong baritone of the president called for his unwavering attention once again. He reached for the silver door knob and pulled it open with such grace that a dancer would feel envy. “Thankfully we have someone with such knowledge of animal attacks.”

“Good afternoon everyone. It’s nice to meet you all.”

Dazai felt as if he was waterboarded.

That voice…

Air felt thick and dry.

It’s been so long since he heard such a soft tone. But was slightly different now. Stronger. More assured. Firm but still gentle with a hint of sass and defiance intwining.

“I mean sure we already met but it’s been four years now. So it’s like our first meeting all over again. Anyways, I’m in your care!”

Standing tall with a fanged grin was…

“Atsushi!” Kyouka Izumi breathed with wide blue eyes.
