19.10.22 I Am Playing As A Werewolf Again In Сurse Of Strahd, So I Thought About Some AU Where Isra

19.10.22 I am playing as a werewolf again in Сurse of Strahd, so I thought about some AU where Isra not dead but still a werewolf and Ivo as her harsh but sassy mentor. Why? Because I want so and their dynamics will be funny to me. It was started as practice and concepting hybrid form for Isra, but ehh teehee

Earlier today I was making a ceramic necklace pendant and was like "hey, I wanna make something werewolf related I can wear" so I was thinking and started wondering if there was any kind of general "werwolf symbol" out there that I could carve onto said pendant.

I found out that there is! It's an ancient shield emblem originating from Germany and Eastern France called Wolfsangel, which translates to "wolf's hook" and was sometimes associated with lycanthropy, and was later adopted by peasant revolutionaries as a symbol for German liberation in the 15th century. Pretty cool right?

Well not so much actually.

Im really really glad that I kept researching before I started carving because apparently Wolfsangel was actually appropriated by the Nazi's during WW2 and is now globally classified as a hate symbol. Great :|

All of this is to say that I think it's about time we created/found a new symbol for werewolves, one that doesn't have a shitty double meaning lol. Something like the theta-delta or elven star, but for werewolves (or werebeasts in general) specifically. Not sure if one already exists somewhere, I couldn't find one while researching but I wouldn't be surprised if there was one tucked away in some dusty old 2000's internet forum that someone would like to clue me in on. But if not, I think it'd be cool to start trying to figure out a new one, something that anyone who identifies with the "were" label for any reason can use!

If for no other reason, than at least just so I can find something to put on my pendant lmaooo

Ever since I learned to cut the "but I know Im still completely human btw" bullshit in regards to my nonhumanity and instead just embraced the whole "Im literally a werewolf" mindset, Ive honestly been sooooo much happier and more confident with myself and my identity.

I feel so much more in-tune with my authentic self, and my overall expression is much better aligned with how I perceive myself. My species dysphoria certainly hasn't disappeared, but it's miles more manageable than it was even compared to a year ago, which ironically has also helped me learn to love the parts of me that are still human. Im so much more balanced now, and the internalized shame I struggled with for so long is steadily eroding away. Even something as simple as casually making jokes to my friends about how they might catch me prowling the forest on a full moon is infinitely more affirming than constantly trying to convince humans that I "didn't actually believe I was an animal".

I am a real life lycanthrope. I'm never going to deny that part of myself ever again. Fuck trying to make yourself palatable for human social norms.

Refining her design!!

And decided that she becomes a werebat! Since that's fun! And it's as close to making her a vampire... without being a vampire 😌. So that way, I can give her a dramatic and slightly toxic relationship with a vampire hehe. I'm thinking maybe an orc vampire, big buff lady who's mean, but learns to love <3.

Reworking her so much already, though, haha! Gonna try and make this oc obsession last 😔🫶.

So far, Irv is a sassy, sarcastic, hedonistic lady. She does everything for her own amusement and struggles to feel attached to anything or anyone, but she craves those ties. So she fills the void with carnal pleasures and fine garments.

Okay okay so I'm gonna rant about my homebrew lycanthropes now (for D&D) and no one can stop me.

Wererat: a weaker form of werewolves who only transform on a new moom.

Wererabbit: A very chaotic and physically strong lycanthrope who transforms on the 1st and 3rd quarter moon.

Weredeer: Ever hear of Wendigo's? If not check this out:

Wendigo | Description, Legend, Creature, Until Dawn, & Facts
Encyclopedia Britannica
Wendigo, a mythological cannibalistic monster in the spiritual tradition of North American Algonquian-speaking tribes. It is associated with

Basically a Wendigo but a lycanthrope. They transform for the entirety of Winter.

Werebears: Basically the opposite of Weredear. While they do transform during the winter season, they are very calm and actually remain conscience. Although they un-transform during a full moon in winter.

WereBats: Transform during night (except on a full moon if there's no cloud cover) and in dark caves. They aren't necessarily violent (except on a lunar eclipse, but I'll get to that)

WereDragons: Horribly powerful creature that can only be hurt by Magical Silver weapons. Partially transform on partial solar eclipse and fully transform on a full eclipse. Anything below 25% coverage and they are simply agitated. 25%-50% coverage and they completely lose themselves in anger. 50%-75% the gain a breath weapon and their hands transform into claws. Anything below 75% can still be hurt by non-magic Silver weapons. From 75%-non full coverage and they remain in a human physique, but grow wings and can't be hurt by non-magic Silver weapons.

Lunar eclipse: any lycanthrope triggered by moon phases transform, but get aggressively violent.

Solar eclipse: all lycanthropes transform, but their aggression and personality is reverse of what it normally is (ie. Calm and level headed wererabbits, hyper aggressive werebears).

Lycanthropes in ascending order of unmanagability and CR:

Weredog (as werewolf but herds sheep instead of mauling them)

Werespider (huge and horrific but basically an ettercap at the end of the day)

Weregaroo (jacked. pugilistic. better pack your silvered brass knuckles or you don't stand a chance.)

Wereapotamous (run.)

Werewhale (you don't need adventurers, you need a convention of ordained clergy to discuss why a caring pantheon would allow this thing's existence)

Werebeholder.

I am kin because I'm traumatized.

I am kin because I have emotions.

I am kin because I cope.

I am kin because I love.

I am kin because I am afraid.

I am kin because I have found a connection.

I am kin for myself. I am kin for others.

Hey there, folks! I don't really post much as I don't have much to post about, but this one is important to me.

My closest friend has been writing over the past few months. And personally, I find it to be extremely good. It's verbose and detailed even for the few chapters few currently out, but it's enthralling and grips you so quickly. Their characters have such great interactions with each other, their world feels mysterious and somewhat unknown, their ideas and universal mechanics are just downright exhilirating!!

Royal Road
THE AMBER BOOKIntermenides is a fiction work set in an urban fantasy environment where the supernatural lurks under every corner.

So what exactly is it? We'll, let's get into that!

Welcome to:

Intermenides

Intermenides is an urban fantasy web novel focused around the story of August, Nadir, and Lawry trying to navigate a world beyond the veil of typical human understanding, one full of mystical beings and gods beyond comprehension, and the intersecting pair Silas and Rayne as they track down supernatural (henceforth referred to as Housefolk) dangers underneath the orders of the shadowy and questionable Ministry of Natural Law. A couple sources of inspiration include Paradox's World of Darkness and Weather Factory's Secret Histories games, but ultimately it was spawned from a writing prompt and grew into something larger due to passion and love of writing.

August Hall and Nadir Ruiz are on the run after a shapeshifter of some type took on Nadir's guise and attempted to kill him. Nadir, not knowing who else to go to, ran to August for help and resulted in her awakening to her latent spellcasting abilities and status as a witch. The mimic has not given up its search though, it continues to track and attack the pair seemingly regardless of where they go, for reasons they do not understand as of yet. The duo stumbled into Lawry, a disabled spellblade and former authority figure amongst the world of the Housefolk, and have been staying on the road with her in order to find a solution to their mimic issue; supposedly within a strange and magical book titled Intermenides XIV.

July Lawson, AKA Lawry, is a hard to read, closed off individual. She is often obfuscating information, if not outright lying about topics she believes the duo is not ready to be exposed to. She was once a noteworthy and recognized figure amongst the Housefolk, and a spellblade of borderline legendary status, yet somehow all traces of knowledge on her vanished years ago. Lawry has a strange demeanor to her; she seems distant and cold at times, sometimes even fearful of what might occur around her. Something appears to have scarred her both emotionally and magically, causing her to be unable to control spells without injuring herself and unable to find comfort in people. August and Nadir intend to try and help her heal.

Silas Everett is an overly professional and strict detective within the Ministry of Natural Law, at least on the surface. His jobs are often dangerous, his quarries often violent, and his handling must shift to match. But beneath that he has a genuine care for the Housefolk and merely wishes to keep their world from spiraling. He is known as a Ministry lap dog, doing anything and everything he is told without question, however that couldn't be further from the truth. He is aware that something within the Ministry isn't right, something has rotten it to the very core, and it's up to him and those he puts his trust in to figure out what. And who knows, maybe the Ministry isn't the only thing that isn't quite what it seems...

Rayne Harper! My gods, how I love Rayne. Rayne is a bubbly, sweet, and mildly mischievous lycanthrope under the handling of Silas after being taken in by the Ministry for crimes she had no part in. A little bit of a tease, she is one of the few that Silas lets his guard down around, she knows how he actually operates and relishes every moment away from the eyes of the Ministry. Rayne is one of the many Housefolk who are unjustly oppressed by the Ministry, being forced onto medication that suppress her abilities to shift forms and read emotions. She may be a nobody to the world at large, but her work at Silas' side will prove revolutionary.

I know that was a lot! I know I'm also not great at pitching things but I am earnestly trying my best and I promise that it's written exponentially better than my blurbs about it. I just love what Wren's doing with it, and I want them to continue because I can see how much it matters to them. They're trying to get a chapter out every week to two weeks. Mind you the chapters are quite long. So please, if it seems at all interesting to you, even the slightest bit, please go give it a try. It'd mean the world to both of us.

Thank you for reading!!

Werewolf Traditions From Cultures Around The World...

Werewolf traditions from cultures around the world...

1) In Argentina, a family's seventh born child would sometimes be killed out of fear that it would be a werewolf, especially if they were male and their father was also a seventh child.

2) In French Canadian folklore, not confessing your sins on Easter was a surefire way of being cursed to transform into a werewolf.

3) In Norse mythology, there's a myth about a father and son who discover magical wolf pelts and after putting them on are forced to live as wolves for 10 days before they can turn human again.

4) In Greek mythology, the first ever man wolf hybrid was King Lycaon who was cursed for trying to trick Zeus into eating human meat.

5) In 1500s France, a man named Peter Stumpp was found guilty of killing and eating a dozen people while in werewolf form, including two pregnant women and his own son.

Apparently, The Ancient Greeks Had Their Own Take On The Werewolf Legend.

Apparently, the ancient Greeks had their own take on the werewolf legend.

On the slopes of Mount Lykaion, worshipers of Zeus-Lykaois (Zeus-the-Wolf) would conduct a ritual in his honor. A ritual that supposedly involved cannibalism and human sacrifice. Inspired by the well-known myth where King Lycaon kills his own son Nyctimus and tries to trick Zeus into eating his flesh only to be found out and transformed into a wolf, the ritual attendance would gather once every nine years in the dead of night and make their sacrifice consisting of a human volunteer and an animal. And after the deed was done, a portion of the volunteer's intestine would be mixed with the animal's entrails. The cult members would then each take a morsel of meat and whoever wound up eating the human flesh was transformed into a wolf.

The kicker is they would be stuck in their wolf form for nine years and the only way to be transformed back would be to abstain from eating human flesh that entire time. Not an easy task for a wolf.
