Hugh Abbot Dating Headcanons

-He's too old and been through too much to be beating around the bush and not have someone who can lay back and have some fun; especially in his line of work
-If there's one thing that Hugh wants someone he's getting with to have, it's wit and and the ability to lightheartedly josh around
-After the team was allowed to have another person to join the Ministerâs team, you were the first choice by Tucker to get the job
-The fact that Malcolm could even like someone and think something nice about them baffled Hugh and his crew and instantly got their intrigue and respectÂ
-(especially Hugh though. The man never seemed to baffle him)
-He thought you might be a little bit like Tucker at first though, so he held off trying to get close and waited to get to know the real you
-Which he desperately wanted given you looked downright gorgeous and had the personality to match

-It wasn't until you stayed the night at the office with him and went out of your way to make him comfortable when talking and laying on the sets of couches together that he realized that he fancied you quite a lot
-And it wasn't until you both went for a pint at the pub after work that he made the first move and awkwardly admitted that he harboured deeper feelings for you
-Which, in turn, made you turn red and fumble with your words
-When you came around though, you admitted, with a large grin, that your feelings may mirror his
-Which made him break out in the most dopey and adorable smile you've seen in your life
-Despite his age, you loved that he was able to show you the âfull of life and youthfulâ part of himself that DoSac stifled so much
-âYou are the most radiant person I have ever met my dear. Iâm grateful that you were the one that Malcolm put on our doorstep. God knows how many other twats he could have given us.â

-To say that the dynamic at the office changed was relatively untrue though
-Although you loved being around him, you still had your jobs to do after all
-You both respected that given you didnât want too many people learning about it (especially the damn press)
-But that didn't stop you from stealing kisses, lighthearted touches, yearning glances, and the occasional stop for small talk when you got a few seconds alone
-(Which honestly started to get on a lot of peoples nerves; Glenn and Ollie specifically)
-Glenn and Ollie have no idea how Hugh could land himself someone so fantastic, but they kept their mouth shut in fear of getting fired or receiving a disappointed glance from you
-Tucker was surprisingly okay with the new development in you guys' relationship and even joked about how Hugh may actually shape up and do his fucking job for once

-When the whole Julius situation was rampant and the 8:30 briefings cut happened, you were there to ease his troubles, offer a laugh, reveal info the group had decided to leave out, and boost his confidence
-You had a way of keeping the DoSac team afloat and out of trouble, which they highly appreciated
-The party they held to get Julius off their back even became a success because of your social skills
-Be it, you had to do most of the talking, but at least he was 'clicking' a tad bit better with people

-After a few dates, you both fell into a harmonic rhythm together and even ended up learning the weirdest of each others routines just so you could strengthen your relationship
-You hold hands so often and in the weirdest situations that it honestly just makes people laugh
-Rather than getting just calls related to work and trying to bail him out of a situation, he calls you up when youâre away to see how you are
-Your kisses are soft, drawn out, and involve him wrapping both arms around yours so that youâre snuggled as close as you can be to him
-Although he can hold an intellectual conversation, he loves that you two can talk about the stupidest and seemingly meaningless aspects of life and still have it be interesting
-On quiet nights, when you actually get time to relax and fully enjoy each others company, you wrap yourselves in blankets and watch old reruns of tv shows or have Hugh read you both stories
-He is so dedicated to you that even when the press find out, they canât do much of a story on it. You guys are too wholesome to have a scandal
-Overall, you both are very wholesome and just trying your best to get by!!
