Spoilers for Malevolent Parts 8-12

What the actual f**k were these last episodes? This dude had a child who is most definitely dead. John's losing it. Arthur's losing it. John's a fragment of some yellow dude??? These two have almost died like ten times in the past three episodes. Worms part two electric boogaloo. Man you have to wonder what the cop dude was thinking right before he got shot like three seconds after Arthur warned him. Arthur has committed another murder. Also what's up with the yellow dude and old women? Is john afraid of old women? He's usually so good at descriptions but the second he sees an old woman he just defaults to 'her skin is sagging' like that's not a normal thing with old people. Also these two need to talk and make better decisions; Arthurs at the hotel and he's like hey this kinda sucks I want to leave and john basically calls him a wimp and Arthur's like well I can't take this lying down and then fails to impersonate a cultist not once but TWICE!!! Then when John realizes that this is a bad idea and wants to back out Arthur just goes on right ahead because he started this thing and now he has to finish it. These guys are idiots. I can't wait to listen to the second season.

ok so now that i have had time to process the insane episode which was 52, i have some more thoughts and theories about it.

Mostly thoughts about whats going to happen next. I think Jarthur are going to be separated again, maybe not for long, but for at least a couple of episodes. Because Arthur is very much dead, and Kayne did mention that he'd end up in The Dark World. But I think Arthur is going to end up in The Waylay, and if not then he'll end up in a random part of the Dark World alone and have to make his way over to wherever John is.

Because i was listening to season 3 again yesterday, and then this conversation happened between them.

So I do think that they might either end up separated at some point in season 6.

Ok so I've been thinking about malev part 52 again, specifically about Noel. (Spoilers for 52 of course.)

Firstly, I'M SO GLAD THAT HE'S ALIVE!! I LITERALLY ALMOST SCREAMED WHEN KAYNE MENTIONED THAT HE WAS ALIVE!!!! I'VE MISSED HIM SO MUCH!!!

But I've been thinking about where exactly he is, because we dont get told much - but it is enough to start making some speculations.

I haven't hear anyone mention the fact that he could be in Harpers Hill. Which is where I believe he may be, well, at least physically at least. 1. Harpers Hill is familiar to us. John and Arthur have been there before, and its had a good few episodes set near and in it. And it was quite a big plot-point during the fist part of season 1. 2. It is close to Arkham, extremely close.

So this is where I believe Noel is. More specifically, maybe in the hospital there. Which he wound more than likely have ended up at considering he was shot in the neck and all. But that of course doesn't explain this "threshold" he's apparently at. Which is why I also believe that his consciousness is in The Waylay. We dont know much about it, but it does seem like a rest-stop before death. And there was someone who ordered him a drink (which could be Noel or Parker, or both!).

TLDR: In conclusion I think Noel's body could be in Harpers Hill's hospital, whilst his consciousness is in The Waylay.

Also where was Yorick this episode I missed him he’s not evil just kinda dumb and a plotter and he wants a hand of glory but he’s just a little guy

I’m sad this episode was a feeler though I’m glad Arthur got a little peace of mind when it came to Faroe. I can’t wait to see the absolute shit show that must be next episode this one was much too fluffy something terrible must be coming.

Part 40 - The Order

And it looks like The Butcher is going to take the championship belt with his big win against Detective Noel- AND WHATS THIS!? IT’S OSCAR WITH A BEDPAN!!!!

So we were wrong, but like not THAT far off

Okay so my mom of all people had the crazy idea that maybe, just maybe, Alexander the Owl was in fact KAYNE. As in Kanye might not be able to fully manifest in that time period/place, so he inhabits Alexander the Owl as a way to keep an eye on Arthur and the gang. Because think about it, he's always there when major things happen (minus all the hag stuff, but you could argue she had some sort of power to keep him out), and he's still following them around. This also makes the fact that Arthur is trying so so hard to befriend him that much more funny, because I can 100% see kayne roasting the ever-loving SHIT out of him when he reveals himself.

The Malevolent brainrot has gotten so bad that everyone I meet will at some point receive a pitch for the show. At this point how am I not going to rant about a skrunkly wet cat of a man and his eldritch boyfriend as they travel throughout time and space while trying to find a will to live and discovering their deeply repressed gay thoughts? And we can't forget about the priest lover, the menace to society that also likes to be treated like a dog sometimes, the ridiculously powerful loose cannon who also apparently likes show biz, the Owl (tm), the absurd amount of masks, the absurd amount of bugs, the absurd amount of flesh, the absurd amount of very large holes, the scar-tissue-to-body percentage, the pantheon of lovecraftian gods etc etc etc. oh yeah and he ate a guy.

Imagine meeting someone for the first time and within 48 hours you pour out your worst traumas, declare that the man is, in fact, your entire life purpose (cue homoerotic tension), drive to a random farm in the middle of nowhere while he continuously seems to speak with some 3rd person, have a bug fucking BURROW into you arm, and then this guy has a reeeally tough time trying to CUT YOUR ARM OFF. With an AXE. And then he just dumps you in a hospital and never speaks to you again. Rip Oscar's left arm

Oh god whenever I hear Peggy Gordon I am immediately thrown back into a wild hyperfixation that tastes of brainrot and all-consuming obsession, I am not well

John is a messed up toddler. One moment he's like "pweeeeease can we go to da movies uwu" and the next he's "hey orthur aim a little to the left just trust me"

I was looking through the malevolent wiki and I'm pretty sure arthur has been punched the same amount of times he has fallen down a hole and gotten seriously injured. Can't be healthy.

I love how when Arthur is talking to Kayne he says that he's both the best and worst of humanity.... like babygirl, I understand the worst of humanity but the best? When? You ate a man you can't say that

Haven't seen the "Oscar would have wanted nothing more than for his letter to have helped Arthur in whatever way he needed, and it did, by providing something for him to burn for light" post yet so I'm making it myself.

I'm so so sorry but the thought of alia seeing John, the eldritch creature that is a fragment of the king in yellow as a nondark entity is so. SO GODDAMN REWARDING. THAT'S EXACTLY WHY WE'RE HERE!! JOHN DOE GROWING AS A PERSON, BECOMING ALL THINGS HUMAN GOOD AND BAD....he is not a malicious, dark entity anymore. He is not a fragment of the king in yellow. He's just John. John Doe. As small as it is, compared to the real thing, he really is the captain of his soul. Kill me now

malevolent chapter 49 spoilers!

(the most rambling of thoughts)

-i went into this episode with some spoilers cause i couldn’t listen to the ep until late in the evening, and couldn’t help myself when it came to browsing tumblr

those were: oscar’s letter being illegible ( not too surprised about that one, given the constant rain, the mud, the blood loss, and the swimming/wading through bodies of water. i’d have been shocked if it survived)

arthur lester crashes out (again)

arthur and john reunited with the dearly beloved and missed cast member: “falling in holes”

and arthur uses All Of The Bullets

this turned the episode into a fun mystery game for me (on top of the in-episode murder mystery), trying to figure out when these things would occur

anyway onto the actual episode

- we saw it a lot last episode but i looooove seeing how much john is stepping up and pulling extra weight for arthur while he’s unwell. it’s sooo different from the dysfunctional dynamic they had when dealing with other people during season 4.

i’ll never get tired of seeing the contrast against past events of how far the boys have come and changed

-arthur sure is doing. Really! Bad! uh oh!

-despite that he still gets some great great spotlight of his people skills, dealing with the suspicious and unpredictable castle gang, and the one-on-one intimidation with the friar

-the friar in fact, did not do it, as i thought, but the lord everard reveal is way more interesting so i like this outcome

-something about benevolent christmas special referencing the falling in holes thing, and a new incident of Arthur and John Fall in a Hole being in an episode that released on christmas day is very funny to me, even though i know the part of the episode featuring Falling in a Hole most likely released a couple weeks ago

- arthur giving up because he doesn’t believe that on a fundamental, physical level he’s capable of pushing on and surviving is so heartbreaking to listen to.

despite knowing this is Malevolent, i somehow wasn’t expecting to get emotional this episode!

i got lulled into a false sense of security by the previous episodes (which were pretty chill, compared to the standard), even though i knew they were luring me into a false sense of security

- john reciting Invictus to arthur is so ougggh aggghh oof ouch my heart, i loved it. but also it makes me crazy and i can’t stop thinking about it because

when arthur has referenced pieces of Invictus in the past, john didn’t recognize it.

since john has picked up knowledge of human experiences and poetry from arthur, in some sort of bleed-over of knowledge due to their shared state of being, we can assume that Invictus is not among that selection that bled over.

when john asks about it, arthur specifically says it’s “not for you”, keeping a poem that’s so meaningful to him close to his chest.

it makes sense, this was during the prison pits, and the last thing that arthur shared that was important to him, was wielded against him, painfully.

arthur does recite Invictus to yellow, but he was drunk/poisoned, and given the way he brushes off questions the next day, i assume he wouldn’t have freely recited it had he had all of his faculties about him.

but now, after all that’s happened, how arthur and john’s relationship has changed so drastically from the way it was in the dreamlands.

now john has been able to pick up the poem, accumulated as part of the bleed-over knowledge. i don’t think there’s any conscious control on the part of either party when it comes to what knowledge is shared with john, but it feels significant that Now he has access to it, after all this time.

and what he does with it, is he uses it to raise arthur up. to support and try and encourage arthur to push on. head bloodied, but unbowed.

these two make me so crazy it’s insane!!!!!!!

- anyways, because i’m also crazy about kayne, when john mentioned the coin, and then a voice that i didn’t immediately realize was everard spoke, i did very briefly freak out going “omg kayne??? kayne??? kayne???” before coming to my senses.

- also it’s delightful that the boys found an ally here?? i really wasn’t expecting that honestly, after season four, given the circumstances they were placed into, i thought this season would be a return to form of the pair having no one they can safely trust, other than themselves. very neat to be proven wrong!

and it’s a very delightful way to twist it that ultimately they can’t rely upon/work with this ally in the end, because they’re stuck working for one of those very “dark forces” that everard is working against.

- YAY WAHOO for arthur getting healed from his sickness, but i am very curious about how the next episode will go, given that it’s “not simple” and “will take some time”.

it’s possible there will be a short time skip, but i feel like an episode about curing a magical sickness and ridding arthur of horrig’s influence, has potential to be another character development bottle episode of sorts, like The Nightmare.

also can alia detect john?? will she be able to detect john when healing arthur??

what if she deems john as some “dark force” that arthur needs healed from as well

or what if she deems john is Not a “dark force” (that one would make me cry)

i can’t wait for the next ep
