Hello hey, I was wondering why you don't like "canon" Regulus. I always wanted ask someone who doesn't like him but most of them are pretty hostile and you seem like a person with sense.
I don't actually like fanon Regulus because he's just canon Sirius with Slytherin AU.
The first time I have read the books I just thought "poor child" about him and nothing else. And when you read into it more *from his three lines* he doesn't seem that bad, just a complex morally gray character. Like James and Sirius themselves, just backwards. I want to know your perspective.
I’ll be so honest here, but know I mean all of this with respect!
Regulus believed everything Walburga and Orion told him with no hesitation. He willingly joined the Death Eaters when he was 16 and fully agreed with all of their ideals. Even his parents didn’t fully agree with joining the Death Eaters. He sacrificed himself in the end and changed his mind just before he died, but he didn’t actually help at all. It would’ve been easier for Harry if he’d just left to horcrux. He was mean to Sirius for no reason and was a supremacist. Yes, he died young. Yes, he ended trying to do the right thing. Yes, he was a kid. That doesn’t change the fact that he was an objectively bad person for most of his life.
When Sirius called him “soft” in OOTP, it wasn’t because he was a sweet little boy, it’s because he was a coward who believed everything he was fed. He had no qualms with hurting people and was literally a prick. People have a weird perception of him because of fannon, but he was shit in cannon.
I don’t like Slytherin-Sirius-fannon Regulus, but I do like flawed-character-with-good-development-who-ends-up-a-good-person-fannon Regulus (should’ve specified that earlier lol). I have a billion mixed feelings about cannon Regulus. He’s a bad person, but he’s also a victim, but I can’t stand by what he did when he had Sirius in the same house, who was, undoubtably (based on everything we know about him), trying to help him onto the right path.
Anyways, no hate if you like cannon Regulus, I just don’t get it. He fascinates me and, if he were real, I’d love to study him, which is the most I can really say. I imagine that the second version of fannon Regulus is the one most people like (and some assume is cannon Regulus).
hello i am wondering if you are anti jegulus in the 'just not my thing' way or anti jegulus in the 'jegulus shippers should kill themselves way' because you have very good takes and i feel like we would get along well but i am also a jegulus shipper who has been called a nazi entirely for liking regulus multiple times and i don't want to risk it again :D
Holy shit what— people are like that? No, that’s not me. I don’t understand or like Jegulus, I never have, but I will never actively and directly hate on people who do (so long as it doesn’t get pushed on me, obviously, but if you’re going to ask this I doubt you will lol). I’m not the biggest Regulus fan, and I’ll probably post about disliking (CANNON) Regulus and not enjoying Jegulus, but if you’re alright with that I’m totally open to being friends with anyone. Alternative perspectives are nice to hear sometimes.
Long story short, I don’t care for Jegulus but I don’t think anyone who ships it is like. An awful person or anything.
Me when I post a new story and no one comments: :(
Remus needs a cane to walk and Sirius carries him around when his legs/hips/back start hurting argue with the wall
Whenever I get comments on my fics I’m just like “oh you like my writing? You enjoyed this enough to tell me? How do you feel about a fall wedding? Or spring or summer or winter I’m not picky, whenever you want. I will literally take a bullet for you”
You will never catch me drawing Sirius without self harm scars. He is my representation. I am a self harmer and I demand at least one person to help us feel seen
James is a stare-into-your-soul-through-eye-contact sort of neurodivergent
Remus is a no-eye-contact-ever sort of neurodivergent
Peter is a eye-contact-only-when-it-shouldn’t-happen-and-none-when-it-should sort of neurodivergent
Sirius is a bitch-had-manners-beaten-into-him-and-therefore-does-just-the-right-eye-contact sort of neurodivergent
Big spoons: Sirius, Lily, Dorcas, Frank, Pandora
Little spoons: Remus, James, Marlene, Alice, Xenophilius
Me whenever I write about Sirius: Have I mentioned how TALL he is? How STRONG? Have I told you that he’s BROAD? That he’s TALL? That he’s so TALL and STRONG and BROAD?
Trans!Regulus makes makes sense to me for a few reasons, honestly.
For one, it explains why it took so long for Sirius to be disowned. We know that the House of Black had very old values, so I can picture them not being accepting of trans people and not wanting a “woman” to be in charge. We know they disowned easily— think about Alphard— but they didn’t get rid of Sirius until he ran away. I could picture them keeping Sirius around to try and have a viable heir.
For two, it would give motivation for Regulus to rethink things. In the end, he did betray Voldemort, but, before that, he was wholly devoted to the cause. Maybe the reason he rethought things is because he realized he didn’t fit the mold, causing him to ask questions, before he figured it out and backtracked.
For three, I just like trans characters. Fuck JKR, she deserves to be pissed off by us making characters trans. I’d make Regulus trans if only to make her upset.
You’re so right. It’s okay, though, because he learned how to make the moonlight and make the stars shine, himself, when he got to Hogwarts.
When Harry is born, Sirius is dead terrified of holding him. He will do literally anything to avoid it. He spills hot coffee on his arm when Lily offers the first time, playing it off as an accident. He lies that he hurt his elbow in a battle when James tries to hand Harry over. He casts a wordless, wandless spell on his arm to cover it in rashes, saying he shouldn’t, just in case it’s contagious, when Remus tries to pass Harry to him. He comes up with excuses every single time. He lies to Lily, to James, to Remus, Peter, Mary, Marlene, Dorcas, Emmeline, Frank, Alice, and everyone else who comes into contact with Harry and him.
Everyone, after two months of this, assumes that Sirius just doesn’t like babies and isn’t willing to say it to them, for some reason. When James finally corners him, handing him Harry because “he’s your godson! You can’t go your entire life avoiding him. How do you expect to bond with him if you won’t even let him hold your finger?” Sirius awkwardly holds the kid, every muscle in his body tense, tears in his eyes, shaking, genuinely petrified. James takes Harry back and finally presses Sirius until he spills.
Sirius adores Harry. He doesn’t love kids, generally, but his nephew, his godson, is the exception. That doesn’t change the fact that he is terrified of the idea of hurting Harry. He’s so scared that his upbringing has permanently fucked something in his brain up and, if he gets into close contact with a kid, that something will be triggered. He’s terrified that he, if presented with an innocent, sweet, adorable child, could become the monsters that raised him.
For some reason, this image is very Sirius Black coded to me. Something about it just seems like something he would say/write on a wall/spray paint in an alley/post on social media/etc. and I love it. Also, very true for the US’ current political climate, among other things…
Sirius Black is not a lap dog. Sirius Black is a humongous black mutt the size of a bear that sits at your feet and growls when strangers get too close. He's got teeth and he's got claws and he's not afraid to bar them if people act up. He is not a lap dog, and he is not tamed. He is Sirius fucking Black.
Me wanting to post more art on my blog: :D
Me realizing that that means I need to actually draw things at some point: :0
Give me Sirius Black who has self harm scars on his arms and thighs. Sirius who has bruises on his wrists from hair elastics. Sirius who digs his nails into his arms when he’s stressed. Sirius who bites his hands when his nails don’t work. Sirius who rubs the insides of his wrists just to feel the scars because they comfort him. Sirius who punches walls when he’s overwhelmed. Sirius who is so used to pain as punishment that he thinks he deserves it whenever he does something he perceives as wrong. Sirius who learns when he’s young that pain is the best way to calm down.
Give me elementary school teacher Remus who teaches first graders and university professor Sirius who teaches physics and mechanical engineering. Give me Remus who takes out a feelings wheel and goes over basic communication skills with Sirius, because he never properly learned them as a child (namely due to Walburga and Orion’s abuse). Give me Sirius who helps Remus make little birthday and Christmas gifts for his students. Just… give me elementary school teacher Remus and university professor Sirius.
James starts fights, Sirius ends them.
James calls the shots, Sirius does the shooting.
James makes the enemy, Sirius holds the grudge.
Sirius Black who cries when Remus kisses his cheek, tucks his hair behind his ear, and tells him he loves him. Sirius Black who cries when Remus rolls over and wraps himself around him in his sleep. Sirius Black who cries when Remus wears his clothes and nuzzles his face into them just to inhale the smell of him, smiling all the while. Sirius Black who cries when Remus does mundane favours for him, like picking up his favourite candy from the store or making him coffee in the morning. Sirius Black who is by no means a crybaby— Remus is the only one who has ever seen him cry— but breaks down every time Remus is domestically kind to him because of the way he was treated as a child.
Lily is a pink girl, Mary is a purple girl, Marlene is a red girl, Emmeline is a blue girl, Alice is a yellow girl, Sybill is an orange girl, Dorcas is a green girl, and Pandora is a rainbow girl. I don’t make the rules.
IT WAS ABSOLUTELY NOT A MISTAKE
Sirius smokes. Remus sits outside to talk to him while he does it. James follows them out and blows bubbles just to hang out with them. Peter follows James out and watches the smoke and bubbles.
Sirius is the perfect height for Remus to bury his face in his neck for comfort. Remus is the perfect height for Sirius to kiss his forehead.
Sirius smokes. Remus sits outside to talk to him while he does it. James follows them out and blows bubbles just to hang out with them. Peter follows James out and watches the smoke and bubbles.
Fanon keeps making Sirius the one who looks up to James, and I agree with that to an extent, but I think James was the one looking up to Sirius most of the time (James stopped playing with the snitch for Sirius when he wouldn’t for anyone else; you don’t do that if you don’t look up to someone!).
Imagine James who sees Sirius’ many, many piercings and, even though he’s scared of needles, gets his lobes pierced. Imagine James who sees Sirius’ tattoos and gets a little paw print on the inside of his wrist. Imagine James who sees Sirius’ quick wit and sharp tongue and tries to emulate it whenever people are mean to his friends. Imagine James who sees Sirius leaving his tie undone and starts doing that, himself. Imagine James who sees Sirius and wants to be like him, so effortlessly cool and funny and handsome.
James Potter who knows how to take care of long hair. He learned how to properly section and brush it, how to braid, how to make a bun, how to trim split ends, how to pick the right products, how to clean it, how to take care of curls, all of it. Lily doesn’t understand— his hair is constantly a mess and he only uses high-end product because his dad makes it. Then, she walks into the dorm towards the end of seventh year to see him sitting on a bed, a very disheveled Sirius in front of him, slouching and half-dead looking, while James gently brushes out his freshly-washed, mid-back length hair.
James, being the amazing friend and brother he is, learned how to take care of hair because he knows how much Sirius’ hair means to him, but he gets depressed sometimes and can’t do it, himself.
Remus when Sirius became an animagus for him:
"I can fix him" "I can make him worse" fuck if I know what I'm doing to him but he's barking now
THIS THIS THIS!!! I love these so much. Your takes are so amazing
hellllloooo!!! i love your hcs, coz i may not agree with all of them, but marauders characters are so three dimensional it's almost refreshing to see a different take to mine! with that being said, would you mind sharing some wolfstar hcs? i really like your remus and sirius ones, and i hate to be a bother, but I really want to see what you think!!
thank youu <3
of course, anon! i agree with you, seeing different takes (even if you don’t agree with them) can be so refreshing, and sometimes even bring a “wait, i can actually see that!” moment. here you go:
remus is the perfect height for sirius to give him forehead kisses
(and sirius is the perfect height for resting his chin on remus’ head)
smoke together
sirius can be quite awkward with affection (due to growing up in an environment in which it was limited), while remus is quite affectionate (he was showered in physical affection as a child, especially by his mother)
remus showed sirius what gentle love can feel like
their dynamic didn’t change much after they started dating, especially since not a lot of people knew about their relationship
sirius is not used to verbalising his feelings (especially love) so when he told remus he loved him remus’ face broke into the biggest dopiest smile
do book exchanges! before they started dating especially, remus passed sirius his (annotated) muggle books, and sirius always enjoyed reading the little bits remus had added to the original story
snog in broom closets between classes. remus is always pressed against the door so no one can actually open it and walk im on them
due to knowing how to imitate handwriting, sirius does remus’ essays when he’s feeling under the weather after the full moon; he also helps him whenever else remus needs to, although he doesn’t want to admit it
in love with each other and SHOW it, but they’re not codependent
nerds
sirius always does the crosswords on remus’ newspaper. it’s become their thing
I am so sorry but Remus John Lupin was not a sex god. Bro had never even seen a dick until Sirius. He was genuinely a little bit afraid of it the first time (it’s okay, though, because Sirius was very sweet and patient, of course). He thought people kissing in books was wild and sexual. He turned into a tomato and hid his face whenever there was a kiss in movies. He took things so slowly with Sirius that Sirius had to ask if he ever wanted to have it or if he was asexual or something. Then, once he got a taste, he became the most insatiable thing ever, practically begging for it every night.
Sirius does this really fun thing where, because he was surrounded by the very powerful House of Black growing up, he just does really impressive bits of magic without acknowledging it and everyone around him is so awestruck. Then he’s there like “what you can’t wandlessly and wordlessly cast a patronus charm???”
Cloud!
if Sirius is a star, Remus is the moon and James is the sun, WHAT is Peter??
