User input, and a basic calculator.

Most programs people use have some form of user input. A calculator isn't much use if it always uses the same numbers after all!

Also I just found out you can put more than one read more line in one post.

The input command has the syntax:

INPUT VARNAME;

What this does is when program execution meets this line, the program pauses execution, allowing the user to input text. When the user hits enter, program execution will continue and the variable VARNAME will be made to point to an object corresponding to the text the user entered.

This object is such that the left half is the object that corresponds to the first character. If there is no character after that, the right half will be the NULL object. Otherwise the right half will be the object corresponding to the input without the first character. If they hit enter without inputting any characters the object will just be the NULL object.

Now that we have that all explained, we can start to make programs that actually take user input!

As you might have guessed from the title, the thing we will be making is a very basic calculator. All it does is add two numbers, like in the last example.

But in this, it will get the numbers from the user!

One simple way to do this is to use the length of the input text as the number: The way we define what we call numbers just so happens (heh) to be such that if we interpret the object for the input string as a number, the number will be the same as the length of the input!

This isn't the greatest solution, but it is easier than other methods. We will use this method first and then move on to other methods that are harder to write, but will be nicer when using the end program.

so pretty much what we need to do it put the code to get A and B where that goes(at the beginning), as well as stuff to tell the user how to print stuff.

Like I said, the objects from the input commands can be interpreted as numbers.

So yeah. That should work. I still need to test this, but I am pretty dang sure that this works.(have to go do homework now) In the next post I will explain how to make it so that the user can type in the number as an actual number!

33/100 days of productivity: Learning physics for my exam tomorrow. It's my last one (I hope ! 5/2 is not for me)

32/100 days of productivity: My schedule changed a lot this week and this is even worse next week. I feel completely out of my routine. There is so much things to know in this course that I decided to use a 4A paper than my usual A5 Bristol paper.

I use paperclip to keep my notes together (because it is to heavy to take every binder with me) and they are really helpful, even if l always loose them in my bag. Hope those pictures can inspire you. So don't throw your empty tea's box. You can always store something in them ;)

28/100 days of productivity: I didn't have a lot of homework today. I studied maths outside with the news pens I bought yesterday.

15/100 days of productivity: Learning learning learning While finishing my DM I made a chai tea latte : my favorite brevage by far right now.

14/100 days of productivity: Worked all day long. I did 2 DM ( long and more difficult exercice than usual ) today. My boyfriend helped me for the second and we are quite a nice team together.

Lot of work today. I spend hours on my khôle notes looking for more informations in physics books. I even continued while cooking and finished after eating but I made a pause to come back at school in the afternoon.Though, it took me so long ! I also made my engineering sciences notes during the morning classes because why not. I saved time that way. And now, 11pm, I will only begin my physics homework. I become to be late in my work. I spent too much time helping others doing their own homeworks that I forgot mine. So, I will probably work late tonight.

Maths study for tomorrow exam : it will only last 2hours when it’s usually 4hours. And I borrow books at school for my group project about automatisation. Oh and I guess I’m doing the 100 days of productivity even if I’m actually trying to be productive since a long time ago. But let it be the day 5 since when I started my studyblr.
