thing i noticed

so the ips-n blackbeard has that bulky torso and those evil shoulder vents

you know the ones.

so basically, what i noticed is that, despite being the mech with The Big Greatsword, as far as i can tell the blackbeard completely lacks the range of motion required to perform complex swordfighting maneuvers (especially ones with a heavy blade such as the nanocarbon sword (although i'm not John Swordfighting so don't quote me on that))

so it's probably less used like a sword and more like a sharp tire iron or perhaps a lawnmower blade that you gave a wildly-swinging maniac. which. i mean it, is the blackbeard.

"Deconstruction" as a term has been overused at this point (at least the way it's used in online fandoms I interact with), but thinking about it does bring to mind this quote by writer Kurt Busiek that I feel has influenced me quite a bit (I've cited Busiek as an influence on my writing in the past):

"It strikes me that the only reason to take apart a pocket watch, or a car engine, aside from the simple delight of disassembly, is to find out how it works. To understand it, so you can put it back together again better than before, or build a new one that goes beyond what the old one could do. We've been taking apart the superhero for ten years or more; it's time to put it back together and wind it up, time to take it out on the road and floor it, see what it'll do."

You can replace "superhero" with any number of things at this point (magical girls, high fantasy, mecha), and I think the general idea of what Busiek's saying still works.

I really like mundane mecha.

There's just something appealing about motorcycles with legs

a funk lad, I honestly didn't now what I'm drawing for most of this.

I had an idea, of a sort of mecha / vehicle that my race of aliens the Imsee might use. Sort of their version of a chicken walker. I'm still figuring out what their tech looks like, but i want it to look very organic.

More experiments in learning how to draw robots, I'm not sure how i feel about the top part, the shape is odd, but i like the idea of arms on a track that can rotate around.
