I made monster Tom! I had much fun making the monster form haha, it doesn’t look like the cannon one but I wasn’t a big fan about the cannon version being bipedal.

tom was never actually eyeless. the appearance of his eyes was because of a gene passed from his mom, who happened to carry a monster gene. although his eyes are not very reflective, you can sometimes see a very faint highlight under bright lights. the only time they change appearance is when he is shocked (white), or transforming into a monster/under strong emotions (pink).
tom had never gotten the chance to get a full explanation of his monster gene since his mother died before she got the chance to tell him the full story. instead, she would often try her best to prevent tom from having strong outbursts of emotions, as that could trigger the monster gene. she'd tell him to control himself and not let his emotions take over him, which led to tom developing a habit of constantly bottling his emotions until he snapped.
he eventually found out more about the trait on his own, especially when he first transformed into a monster. he figured that strong emotions, especially stress/rage, would set off the transformation. holding in his emotions would feel painful, almost uncontrollable
although it is hinted in the canon that tord had smth to do with tom's monster form, i don't see it that way. i mainly took inspiration from this post instead
