OTP Challenge - Day 21 - Dispute
Day Twenty-One, Dispute: Even people who love each other sometimes don’t see eye-to-eye. Your OTP having an argument. How did it start? How does it get resolved?
God it was so hard to choose which ship to do for this one oml
After a while, I got it to Plasma.
So plasma it is.

Jay had made a mistake. One step out of line on a duo mission ruined everything. Both him and Kai were noticed. Instead of ambushing, they were the ones being ambushed.
They were attacked and thrown out of the building. And from the door's closing alone, they could tell that the defences were increased tenfold. No way to get in now.
Kai was furious. He stood and glowered at the door for a while, silently fuming. Jay didn't attempt to talk to him. He didn't want the wrath of the fire ninja directed toward him.
After a few moments, Kai spoke. "How did they... How did they even catch us? We were basically invisible to their defences. How?-"
"I did it." Jay murmured, sitting down on the ground, with his back towards the other.
"What?"
Jay sighed, "I made a mistake. I stepped the tiniest bit out of line and they caught us."
"You made a mistake? You made a mistake?" Kai growled, "We were attacked and thrown out, ruining the stupid mission we were assigned and now we may never figure out what we wanted to find out! You sure as hell made a mistake."
"Sorry..." Jay whispered.
"We were attacked!" Kai continued, ignoring him. "Attacked and kicked out into the forest! Their walls are probably stronger now! How we going to get in?"
"I said I'm sorry."
"It's your fault!"
Jay stood and whirled around on his heel. "You think I don't know that?! I knew from the moment we were attacked that it was my fault! I knew I stepped in the wrong spot and that I should have told you I did from the moment it happened so we could escape!"
"Jay-"
"Do you know how scared I was? They could have just kept us in there instead of throwing us out! What would the team think if we didn't come back and then they try to come in here and find out we we captured, maybe dead!"
Kai looked scared. He pulled Jay in for a hug before backing up a bit. "Sorry, just got mad."
"S'okay."
"Also, Jay, you know about your eye, right?" He asked, watching Jay carefully.
"My eye? What about my-" Jay moved his hand above the eye he hadn't realized wasn't seeing anything. "My eye?!"
"Let me grab the med kit, it looks like a scratch only closed it. C'mon."
They made their trek back to their vehicles, Kai retrieving the small med kit. He began to clean off the scratch. "How did this one happen?"
"A knife I think? I dunno?"
As soon as it was all clean, Kai smiled. "Your eye should be fine."
"Good," Jay hummee, opening it slowly. Kai stared at him for a moment before laughing. "What?"
"Look at your wound, please." Kai, who always had one on him, handed him a mirror.
Jay looked at it through the mirror skeptically. "What about it?"
"Look at me."
"Okay?"
"Now back at your wound."
"It's the same as-"
"Mine, yeah! We match!"
"We match."
"Yeah!"
Jay laughed.
“You know I wrote Our Fault about you, right?”
There's a heavy silence that settles over the two of them. And Kai feels like he may suffocate.
Jay watches him from the corner of his eye, trying to be secretive about it, trying to hide the fact that he's watching. Kai can see this, but he doesn't have the strength to say anything. No comment, not even an “oh”.
Jay's house is full, cluttered, always has been, but everything feels so empty.
Jay stands up.
In some way, Jay looks the same as his house. Distant, cold.
Kai swallows the lump in his throat.

hmmmm.. I feel like it'd vary? Kai would probably fight to be able to be big spoon but Jay also needs to hold something. They trade off and sometimes they face one another and yknow 🥺😭💖💖💖 Jay's got like a plush or smth for when Kai wants to be big spoon (Mr cuddlywompus??? Was that his name???)
also I KNOW there r some nights where Jay has to push Kai away bc he's a living heater and it's wayyyy too warm.

Someone in a red shirt sits down beside him in the Navigator's chair. There's the sound of tapping at the screen before the chair swivels and whoever it is is staring at Kai.
Kai moves his head to see a guy with an unruly mop of brown hair and far too many freckles with his hand outstretched and waiting.
“What?” He finds himself asking, and the guy laughs.
“Lieutenant Commander Jay Walker,” He speaks, “I'm your Navigator. I can already tell we'll be a great team.”
Okay?
Kai hesitantly takes his hand. “Lieutenant Kai Jiang-Smith.”
Lieutenant Walker grins.
“Don't let the Operations Red deceive you,” Walker winks at him, “I'm anywhere and everywhere. Communications, check,” He starts listing them out, using his fingers to count as he goes. “Navigation,” Another wink. “Check! Engineering? Check. Sickbay? Uh, no, they kicked me out last time I tried. But, Rec Room Seven on video game nights? Always.”
"Okay," Kai turns back to his console, getting acquainted to the new controls. He's only piloted this big of a starship once or twice before, at least outside of simulations. His past few placements on larger ships have been either Navigation or some other needed role.
"What about you?" There's an impatience in his tone. Almost as if he was expecting more of a reaction.
"Mainly a pilot," He speaks, grabbing the handle for the warp speed and gripping it tightly. He doesn't push it. "But, I've been on Navigation before, along with other roles the past few years."
Lieutenant Walker hums some sort of approval, and Kai can hear him drumming on the console with his fingers.

I've been debating a lot on how Jay would act/how different he'd be if he was raised by Cliff- we don't know his personality and how he would have been other than: he LOVED Jay, and he was likely a womanizer. I think the environment of the mansion is gonna be SUPER different compared to the junkyard.
Jay's a lot less...??? He's still talkative and outgoing, but he's not as 'loud' as he is in the show. He's not an inventor anymore- that's definitely a quality that Ed and Edna passed onto him. He's shoved into acting jobs by Cliff and he travels a ton up until he becomes a ninja.
Cliff would at least be friendly with Ray and Maya, depending on how close he got with them when Libber was still alive. But, even if they weren't great friends, he would have seen another kid at his son's age and would've taken the chance to get him some friends!!!
He drops Jay at the Four Weapons so often. He's really busy most of the time due to filming and stuff, but Ray and Maya ADORE Jay so it's alright. He's welcome in their house at ANY time.
Jay and Kai are quickly attached at the hip. They are the bestest of friends. Nya's too young to play with Kai and Jay at first, but as soon as she's old enough, she's trailing their every move. It's like a tiny gang.
Wherever Jay goes, Kai follows, and vice versa.
But, as they grow older, Jay is thrown into more and more gigs and has less and less time to visit. And soon, Maya and Ray vanish and Kai and Nya are left to fend for themselves.
There's a point where they lose contact, and when Kai joins the Ninja, holyyyyy shit that's the kid he spent SO MUCH TIME WITH
And Jay, on the other hand, had a MASSIVE crush on Kai and maybe that's the reason Cliff pulled him away. So, when he sees Kai and he's like oh. Oh.
Oh.
there are so many thoughts racing throu my head rn with this au u don't even KNOWWWW...... thanku for introducing this concept to me and now I may need to write this and never finish it actually

“Where are you taking me?” Jay asked as he was dragged across Ninjago City by Kai.
“Just wait.”
“Just wait.” Jay mocked, “You know that I’m not that patient, Kai.”
“Well, if you just stopped whining and maybe looked around at the city, you wouldn’t be so bored.”
“Well, if we weren’t going so quickly, maybe I would be able to do that.”
Kai rolled his eyes. “Well, then just wait. It won’t be much longer, you big baby.”
Jay gasped dramatically, “Excuse me?! I’m not a b-”
“We’re here!” Kai exclaimed, pointing to a small building on the street corner. “It’s not much, just a small cafe, but you said nothing too big, and their cinnamon rolls are amazing-”
“Then let’s go!” Jay laughed, pulling Kai up to and through the doors. He ran up to the counter almost immediately.
“Fast, are we?” Kai smiled, “My favorite are the cinnamon rolls of course, but their doughnuts and cakes are really good too.”
“Can we get one of everything, then?”
Kai’s eyes lit up. “Yes.”

Soon they were sat at a table, each and every pastry they had to offer on plates in front of the two of them.
“So you’ve been keeping this place from all of us? The whole team?” Jay asked, taking a bite out of a crêpe. “This is really good.”
“Uh, not the whole team? I’ve taken Nya here before.” Kai hummed, grinning ear to ear. “I’ve been waiting for a moment like this, and I guess this is it?”
“You mean take me on a date?”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“We are not telling Cole or Lloyd about this place. This is now ours.”
Kai couldn’t hold in his laugh.
And if someone ever saw that they walked onto the Bounty late that night with at least 5 bags of sweets, they never said anything.
OTP Challenge - Day 11 - Rest
Day Eleven, Rest: Your OTP resting and/or sleeping together. They could be sleeping anywhere from at home in bed to out on a park bench.

Kai had a bit of a problem.
He was hungry.
And Jay was asleep, right on top of him.
Which was not fun, not in the slightest.
He shrugged to himself, attempting to curl up around the other boy. He could ignore his hunger just a little bit, maybe fall back asleep.

Jay hummed, finally waking up. From bleary eyes, he could see that Kai was fast asleep underneath him. He glanced toward the room’s clock- 9 AM. He could sleep a little longer, yeah.
Kai was asleep so why would Jay have to stay awake? He laid his head down on Kai’s chest, letting out a breath.
“You awake?” Someone mumbled, and it took hin a moment to realize it was Kai.
“Mmmmh, no.”
“Can I get up, then?” Kai asked, moving his hand up so he could run through Jay’s hair.
“No,” Jay mumbled, “Warm.”
“Please?”
“No.”
Kai grunted, pushing Jay off of him and in turn off the bed. “There. Now I can get up.”
“Hey!” Jay squeaked, now awake from the tumble.
Kai chuckled, sliding off the mattress and letting his feet hit the carpeted flooring. “I’m going to go eat. You can go back to sleep if you want.” He stood, walking over to the doorway. “You coming or not?”
“Fine! I’m coming!”

It was all Jay's fault, really. Kai refused to think about his own part in this whole mess, because it was so much easier to pin it all on Jay. - News reporters catch sight of Kai and Jay trying wedding cakes, and get the idea they're engaged, which is funny, hilarious even, except... they're not even dating?
starting off strong with the fanfic that probably literally changed my brain chemistry at age 14 and is the reason I got so attached to plasma. I read this probably a billion times and I am almost certain my writing style came from or started from this fic.
I LOVE fake engagement/dating aus and this fic is literally the reason I have like 5 in my wips for other fandoms. it's so good and it had me hooked every single time I reread it. I believe I owe it a reread soon.

Things start to get complicated after he accidentally discovers Blue's identity- and, after he realizes Blue doesn't recognize him, a little awkward as well. Along with all of this, a new criminal organization on the rise is pushing the strength of the ninja's bonds, threatening them to fall apart.
So uh basically ninjago is gotham now and miraculous ladybug-inspired identity hiding hijinks ensue. (ok hand emoji)
