Navdy has created a civic head-up display that will sit on your car's dashboard. The technology which was invented in 1950s for fighter jets and now offers to you a feel like a genuine pilot on the public highway.
Navdy is 5.1-inch transparent HUD display that projects basic compass from Google Maps and speed information onto the windshield. Besides replacement of the usual dashboard it also touches on some of the smartphone functions, without having to be distracted even for a moment. Voice-activated control is also from Google and accompanied by gesture control system to swing hands purposely during a conversation. Caller ID shows who is calling, wave your left to take or reject by swiping right.
Except trivial chatter on the phone the device supports trigger calls, dictate texts, creating a schedule and even more complicated functions like tweeting, social networks activity or music control. IR camera and a noise-canceling microphone adjusted in order to ignore everyone except the driver, even if the situation in the cabin resembles a cage with monkeys. Moreover Navdy will divide a navigation mode and notifications on-screen for more comfort. Since the connection comes from a dashboard the device provides data from the car such as the next complete service and an oil change.
Navdy comes with Android 4.4 on board, an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0. along with mini-USB port, and a 3.5mm jack. Navdy is taking preorders now at $299, will land on your doorstep in early 2015.
