ANSWER: No. Thats a Wiccan ideology. For us, New Years day is September 1st, called "Then Ohenn."
I know it’s not new years just YET , but my New Year’s resolution is going to be to read more (not just fan-fiction cuz I do be reading like so much of that) but like paperbacks and novels and stuff because I don’t read a lot of books so someone reminds me to actually pick up a book once in a while because I know I’ll let things “pile up” and forget 😂😂

It's my favorite because it's structured well and asl includes lessons on Deaf culture and historical figures. When I took ASL classes from my local Center of the Deaf, they used this resource to structure the classes.

I bought a fancy paper hat at the grocery store (because I'm a sucker for shiny purple paper fedoras* with clocks on them apparently), consumed a little wine+, and knelt on the office floor and kissed my boy cat on his fluffy little head at like 12:04am because I was trying to finish my annual blogspot post**, do a Duolingo lesson, and find whatever TV channel has the ball drop all at once and I sort of missed it. But here we are nonetheless!
*Actually I think it might be kind of like a short top hat? I could post a picture later if anyone is particularly interested. It’s blatantly cheap and kitschy but I also think it’s really pretty actually. Also, as you can maybe tell, I’m still in pajamas; did not leave the house today.
+Technically I got strawberry daiquiri wine (it’s a cheap brand, Mom laughed when I showed it to her because it’s something they used to joke about in like high school or something), coconut creme liqueur rum (easily the strongest of the batch but still pleasantly sweet), and Bailey’s irish creme (definitely the most expensive but also probably the tastiest). I was just going to buy one but I don’t drink very often at all and I was curious to try something new and also I’m chronically indecisive so, here we are. I think I did pretty well picking sweet things actually though. Goodness gracious am I sleepy now though. I swear alcohol pretty much only ever seems to make me sleepy. Barely made it to midnight. Although I guess it’s almost one now. I have been rambling here for a while somehow.

Anyways here’s my mildly incoherent, slightly alcohol-soaked, new year’s post! I mostly wanted to show off my cute little boy cat’s reaction to our new year’s kiss. I love the way he looks at me, like, “I don’t know what’s going on but I love you <3″ is just written in his eyes.
My family dropped cable to save money and I find it difficult to describe the degree to which we all scrambled to find some way of watching Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve with Ryan Seacrest online at around 10:30 at night. We found a way, but the fear I felt before that was massive. I have watched the dcrnyewrs Every Single Year since I was born (though I was asleep for several of them). I don't know what will happen if I don't see it, but I have a theory:
IF I DO NOT SEE RYAN SEACREST'S UNSHAVEN, PERMASMILE, STRANGELY AWAKE FACE ALL OVER THE WALL FROM AT LEAST 11:45 PM ON DECEMBER 31 TO 12:05 AM JANUARY 1ST, THE YEAR WILL LOOP BACK ON ITSELF AND WE WILL GO THROUGH THE SAME ONE AGAIN.
So be glad we found it.

2023 has simultaneously been a terrible, yet great year all in the same.
From figuring out more of myself, from losing hope to reality and my studies, to being able to seek the diagnoses I need to live a better life.
And of course, 2023 was the year I found Team Fortress 2, and I will never forget about it, I will keep the memory of it giving me another BIG hyperfixation (along with Undertale that is)
Undertale Yellow is also something that happened, and I adore it.
I hope 2024 will be a great year for us all.

I feel like a new tradition for new years is that as many people gather into an empty field/street etc. as are wont to. then, they scream as loud as they want to. but this might also just be me having a bad end of year and wanting to shout in a place where it would be reasonable.

- the fact that I give a shit what my peers think
- the fact that, when I don't need to do anything, I do nothing (usually)
- the fact that even when DO I need to do something, i hold off until the last possible moment (usually later)
what has changed with me this year?
- I've learned a lot about programming, and this has helped me learn more about different ideas in math
- I started helping out with tech in my theater
- I made the best damn grilled cheese I've ever had (grilled the inside of the bread, put the cheese on the grilled sides, then grilled that)
and, lastly and most importantly:
what have I loved about myself this year?
- my hair (long)
- all of the friends that I made in tech for the biggest production I have ever and will ever be a part of (Adam, I am your sundress lesbian malewife 4evah)
