Nick Joerling Plate. NC Potter. Ceramic Artist. HighFire WheelThrown.
About 9 inch diameter, almost 2 inch high.
Signed by artist.
Green accent glaze is probably in the Oribe family. Glossy. The main glaze ls probably in the Spogamene (sp?) glaze family & a smooth matte surface.
Purchased around 2000 directly from the artist studio in Penland North Carolina. High fire stoneware, with his signature glazes & decorative techniques & other surface style.
Great for your ceramic collection, from modern ceramic usa based artists. A great example piece for educators. Ceramic Artists make a limited amount of work, have a unique & evolving style, making this a valuable piece. A plate stand, either collapsible metal/coated or wooden ones are traditional for displaying plates.
This has a hairline crack that is not obvious, but can be heard if a light fingernail tap/flick is done to the edge of the plate. This fingernail flick is a technique potters use to tell if a piece ‘rings’ ‘pings’ or has a muted sound indicating a breach in the piece. This plate can be used, but it is a better piece for display. It is a truly beautiful, lightweight plate. It can go in the microwave & dishwasher.
Packaged with great care!
You can bundle with a soft item like clothing, but its preferable to ship solo.
