I plan on filling out the form tomorrow! I hope I can be of much help for your Bachelor's Thesis! <3
Hello!
I am a student at Stockholm University conducting a small study to gather information for my bachelor thesis. The form is directed at worshpiiers of Persephone and Hades and mostly focuses on how you experience the deities and their relationship to one another. Concerning the study it mostly focuses on how neo-pagans here on tumblr approach their deities and what sources they consider valueble for their spirituality/religion. Filling the form could take anywhere between 10 minutes and an hour depending on how many of the qustions choose to answer and how much you write in the free form questions, it can also be completed anonomously.
If you are interested, please take the form! I would also appreciate it if you could reblog this post and spread it. Also, if you think this subject sounds interesting feel free to shoot me an ask/dm as Iâm always down to talk about it :)

Ok, so I know it's not my usual fair, but I just got my Hestia statue for my Altar, and I'm really really happy đ she actually came in, I think, a little earlier than expected, which is great đ
For reference, this is what my Altar now looks like!
So, the statue is pretty obvious, it's definitely the only statue there so far, and it's in praise of Hestia, goddess of the Hearth. Also for Hestia is the big ass painting(made by one of my absolute best friends in the world who is unfortunately not on this app but made it for my birthday 'cause she's awesome like that!!!), and then a couple of basily, minty smells for the wax melter. I also have a more official altar for Hestia that sits on the mantle piece; it's a little mini forest candleholder thing that I made a while ago with a candle that really just reminds me of Her.
The car is for Hermes, god of Messengers and Thieves. It's mainly there because He helps me a lot when I'm driving, and it felt fitting, but there's also a sticker with the number 4 on it(his sacred number) and four flowers that seemed like his vibe. There's also a strawberry because it's one of his sacred foods, but low-key I always forget that, even though I'm constantly eating strawberries đ He has some wax scents, but not too many, just because there weren't that many that spoke to me for him.
Right now, all I have for Apollo is a sun sticker with seven crows(both his sacred number and his sacred bird. Fun fact about that, when I was looking for stickers to decorate the altar with, there were exactly seven crows, and I think that's pretty cool), a few scents(mainly summery fresh ones, right now I have a honeysuckle scent that just really spoke to me.), and a ring I got from my grandmother that isn't shown.
I do have a few items such as the ring holder, the smaller painting (made by the same girl who did the big one), and the heart that just seemed to fit. I don't directly pray to any deities that find those items symbolic, but it couldn't hurt to keep them handy, right?
Anyways, I have a bracelet for Hermes coming in the mail that's supposed to come soon, so maybe I'll post that, too. Have a good day!

So I had written this post, promising something similar on Nordic types of magic. Iâll say this to begin with: even though it is my branch, itâs not something Iâve approached academically very often, so purists might catch me saying something not entirely correct, but whatevs.
The standard disclaimer still appliesâthis is my impression of these terms based on what Iâve read and seen, and arenât meant to be concrete definitions.
SEIĂR (Proto-Indo-European *hâseut-, âto move about, roil, seetheâ +  Proto-Germanic *seuĂŸanÄ , âto seethe, boilâ) is considered a Vanir magic, having been taught to the Ăsir by the goddess Freyja. It is worked the majority of the time after utiseta, and involves communication with wights or other spirits. Seiðr is usually worked in an altered state of consciousness (ASC) and primarily utilized for divination, illusory magic, astral travel, or channelling. Practitioners may be called seið-worker, seiðkona (seiðwoman) or seiðmaðr (seiðman).
UTISETA (Old Norse, âsitting outâ) is a preparatory practice for seið-workers. Traditionally, the practitioner goes out into a place of the dead and seats themselves upon a burial mound, with the object of task being to come into communion with the spirit that will be worked with during the practice of seiðr.
SPĂ (unknown origin, possibly Proto-Indo-European *spey-, âstick, staffâ) is the power of prophesy or foresight, by âthe determination of Þrlögâ. Ărlög is âthe law of fateâ as determined by the Norns. Practitioners may be called spĂĄ-worker, spĂĄkona, or spĂĄmaðr. The term âspĂĄwifeâ is also commonly used. One who is highly skilled with spĂĄ or born with the innate ability may be called a völva, which is a traditionally feminine title, since such magics were seen as being in female domain.
VARĂLĂKKUR (Old Norse âwarding songsâ) are songs to be sung in preparation for seiðr or spĂĄ which are intended to help bring one into ASC. Unlike galdr, varðlökkur can be very melodic, and are today widely inspired by joik and kulning, two traditional singing styles amongst certain Nordic peoples.
GALDR (Proto-Indo-European *ghAl-, âto shout, to singâ + Proto-Germanic *galdrÄ , âincantationâ) is viewed as a more Ăsir brand of magic due to its seeming rigidity, but is similar to varðlökkur in the intent to induce ASC. Galdr is often called ârunic chantingâ and refers to the repetition of the sounds of the runes, i.e., if one meditates upon the rune fehu, then one may continuously gald the sound fe. Practitioners may be called galdra-worker, galdrakona, or galdramaðr.
Hail to my maternal Ancestors. I honor my Disir. The women before me. I honor the path they have walked, and the deed theyâve done. I honor their accomplishments, large and small. I honor the women the women who came before me. I honor the good Disir and ask for guidance. I ask for wisdom and strength, for all of lifeâs dealings. I say this prayer to honor the good Disir. In hopes that the blessings they give will be fortuitous. Hail the Disir! Â
Hail the three wise Maids of Fate. Who care for the World Tree. Your wisdoms endless, Your powers immense.
Wise women of Fate, Who weave the threads of life for all. From the humans of Midgard, to the Jötnar of Jötunheim, and even the Gods of Asgard. I come to You and ask for Your blessings. Help guide me in navigating my Wyrd.
Hail Urd, One who is Fate itself. Help me in harnessing my Wyrd, my past in order to strive forward. Let me not be shackled by fear and worry.
Hail Verdandi, One who is ever present. You who has seen all that transpired, all that has happened. Help me in living for today and accept my life for what it is, with all the good and ill.
Hail Skuld, One who sees all and will see all. You who ultimately decide the end of our Wyrd. Help me accept whatever may come, for the good or ill. Â Help me live without fear of the future, and without worry of that future.
Hail the three Wise Women of the Well, Hail the Nornir! Â
In honor of me absolutely fucking hating the elitism I'm seeing in the heathen paganism community here is a list of all rounder offerings that work for every spirit, deity and anything else you can think of in the realm of the Norse mythology.
- Apples, literally any kind works but from my own experiences yellow apples are preferred.
- Honey, just honey. Or diluted with water as a drink.
- WATER!! A GLASS OF WATER!!
- Mead, doesn't matter if it's cheap. They love mead
- oats, seeds, nuts. Anything of that domain
- Potatoes, Sweden has a long history of survival through potatoes.
- Tea. Throw one of those teabags into a glass of water and leave it out overnight. Boom baam done offering given.
- oatmeal!!! You just need oats and water!!!
- pinecones, leaves, branches. Literally anything you can find in a forest can go on an altar and work.
- seashells, trust me it just worksâą for the ocean aligned ones.
AND THE CHEAPEST OF THEM ALL
- literally just their name in runes scribbled down on a paper, make it into a bindrune and decorate the paper with other doodles.
Point is. For a long time Sweden was poor, we didn't have fancy stuff to offer. So we used what we had and we still do.
And guess what!!! IT WORKS!! IT WORKS AMAZING!! AND IT'S AUTHENTIC BECAUSE YOU'RE THE ONE PREPARING THE OFFERINGS AND GIVING THEM!!! THAT'S WHAT COUNTS!!
so in conclusion fuck the classist assholes who teach that offerings have to be expensive and down to detail perfect. That shit is false and doesn't matter.

I love music. More and more, I have been including music in my practice of witchcraft, simply by having a song in the background while cleansing or making kitchen magic, and singing or humming particular melodies in the shower, when I perform a spell or a ritual, etc. If youâre interested in music witchcraft, here are a few ideas to get you started.Â
â
đ” Singing out loud is a really powerful practice that can help when performing difficult spells, or rituals that are energy-draining.Â
đ” If youâre uncomfortable with singing, humming a melody is a good alternative. I love humming a simple, happy song while cleansing my home.
đ” Charge your crystals, magical items and plants with soothing, dramatic and strengthening music.Â
đ” If you can play any instrument, include them in your practice - by playing before, during or after your daily practice, for instance.Â
đ” Sound playlists have their own power, especially if youâre working with the 4 elements:
đ± Earth: listen to forest and nature sounds
đ„ Fire: listen to fire crackling
đȘïž Air: listen to birds chirping
đ Water: listen to ocean sounds and waves
đ” Make very specific playlists on Spotify ; e.g. âSongs to dance around in your room by yourselfâ, or âSongs to listen when youâre angry about the worldâ. Having songs that reflect your feelings will be incredibly useful and can make you feel less alone in your happiness / or in your pain.Â
đ” Bring back your inner child by listening to nostalgic playlists of songs that came out when you were 5, 10, 15 years old.Â
â
Hereâs a great Spotify playlist with witchy music, if youâre interested.Â
đ§ Meditate and stretch every day, when you wake up or before going to bed, to recenter yourself and look inwards.Â
đ Keep a journal, grimoire or book of shadows and write as often as possible, to remember your thoughts and log your progress.Â
âš Find something to be grateful for every day, whether itâs a big event or simply watching a bird landing on a tree outside of your window.Â
â
đ Make a past/present/future Tarot spread on Sundays to reflect on the week that has passed, your current feelings and the week ahead.Â
đČ Spend time around nature or observing the sky, at least once a week, to stay connected to the Earth and the Moon.Â
đ Practice Kitchen Magic by making at least one special meal per week, where you pour positive energies and magical intentions. I try to learn a completely new recipe once a week to keep it fun and interesting.
â
đ Make a list of your goals on the first of each month, and keep it close to your desk to stay on track every day.Â
đ Follow the moon phases to connect to the Moonâs magic and power. Work hard, start projects and be productive when the Moon is waxing ; rest, recover and reflect when the Moon is waning.Â
đ Learn something new about witchcraft, spirituality, or a completely different topic that interests you. Staying curious, even when life gets busy and complicated, is what makes it worth living.Â
â
đ§č Fully cleanse your home after each witches sabbats to get a fresh start and throw out old energies.Â
đŻïž Switch up and clean your altar at the end of each season, to keep it alive and filled with magical power. Decorate according to the coming season and sabbat.Â
đ± Adapt your behavior to the rhythm of nature: spring and summer are high-energy, starting big projects and spending time outside, while fall and winter are about rest, reflection and spending time indoors.Â

Shadow Work
Origins, Meaning and Utility
Carl Jung theorized the existence of three levels/spheres in the human psyche: the Ego, representing the conscious mind, the Personal Unconscious where memories are contained and the Collective Unconscious, where all knowledge and experiences of the species are shared.
Each Sphere has in it a certain number of Archetypes, used to better describe the components of those structures, and the Shadow is one of them.
The shadow can be seen as a instinctual or primitive part of ourselves, it exists as part of the unconscious mind and is composed of repressed ideas, weaknesses, desires, instincts, and shortcomings.
It is this archetype that contains all of the things that are unacceptable not only to society, but also to one's own personal morals and values, normally going against social norms and rules as well as what we personally consider right.
The Shadow is often described as the darker side of the psyche, representing wildness, chaos, and the unknown, and it is common for people to deny this element of their own psyche and instead project it on to others.
Art: Unknown
The Shadow, in witchcraft, can represent The Unknown, hidden depth of ourselves. Speaking in terms of energy, this is an area that can be a deep source of energetic issues, because itâs locked up in the dark and always striving to reach the light.
To not work with oneâs Shadow is to make it greedy and aggressive, as well as denying a big part of oneself, making everything a half of a whole.
Through that brief explanation, we can already establish the importance and role of the Shadow in witchcraft, and with that in mind, comes the concept of Shadow Work.
Shadow Work can be seen in a number of practices, meditation, trances, inner journeyâs, lucid dreaming, astral travels, spells and divination.
The method can change, but the principle is simple: Centering your intent to self discovery, self knowledge and self acceptance.
Working with oneâs Shadow is not only beneficial to oneâs craft, as it allows one to get in touch with their intuition as well as allows for easier connection with oneâs guide/guides, but it also allows for healing and acceptance of oneâs feelings and needs.
Think of all aspects of life as a wheel. If there is one part bent, the wheel can turn, but with more effort. If the owner spends time fixing that bent part, the wheel will turn in a much more smooth manner.
That is what happens when you take the time to do Shadow Work, you have to put in effort, and most of the time itâs not easy, but once done, all other components on the wheel of your life will be relieved to move on without that obstacle that makes their job harder.
The Shadow is not evil, as evil is just a moral compass invented by humans. It is a part of oneâs nature, and to deny it is to supress a connection with yourself.
Take the time to know and accept your shadow, and youâll see that life will be a little easier.
