So good. I think we all know that Snape is a piece of shit who takes out all his traumas on others. But I fucking hate it when the Marauders are loved and justified because of it. What... You may not be aware BUT THEY UNDRESSED PEOPLE IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE SCHOOL. And so on. Marvelous.

“Good morning, Peter. How’s your morning going?” asked a gray-haired lady as she walked through the door of the coffee shop.

“Oh, good morning, Mrs. Hudson! You know how Mondays are here. But how about you? How’s your husband?” replied the brown-haired boy as he prepared a coffee with enviable ease. Practically everyone in the neighborhood knew how clumsy Peter Sykes could be, but they also knew that, when it came to his coffee shop, his usual clumsiness was completely left behind.

“Oh, you know how Henry is. He keeps refusing to use a cane. The other day, he nearly fell down the stairs because of his limp. I swear to God, Peter, I don’t know what I’m going to do with that man,” Mrs. Hudson complained as she sat in one of the chairs by the café counter. “But tell me about you, dear. How are you and little Harry doing?”

It had been five years since Peter arrived in this small neighborhood in Glasgow with his nephew Harry in tow. The move had been unexpected, but the young man, barely 21 at the time, adapted quickly. The change had been drastic for both of them, but over time, they had earned the affection of the neighbors.

“Well… I think we’re going through a bit of a phase,” Peter said, rubbing his eyes as a trace of exhaustion appeared on his face.

Mrs. Hudson felt a pang of sympathy for the young man. Peter looked so young and seemed to have gone through so much. He was only 24 and was already practically a single father while running his own business.

“Is that so?” Mrs. Hudson asked curiously.

“Do you remember that hedgehog plush Daisy gave him?”

“The one that sings that funny song when you pull the string?”

“That’s the one. Harry keeps pulling the string and laughing every single time as if it were the first time… but I think I’m going to lose my mind if I hear it one more time.”

“Don’t be silly, dear. Kids always have a toy or a song they cling to. It’s normal.”

“I’m not saying it isn’t normal, Mrs. Hudson. I’m just saying I’m sick of that song.”

“I’m sure Harry will move on from that song sooner than you think, dear,” she said with a compassionate smile.

“He will if that toy miraculously stops working…” Peter sighed and then gave a crooked smile. “Although I can’t blame him. The song used to make me laugh at first, too.”

Personally, I like to think that Peter actually managed to kill twelve Muggles with a single spell. I mean, the man became an Animagus when he was about fifteen years old. He might not have been a top student in class, but he was clearly no idiot when it came to magic. Not to mention that he actually succeeded in resurrecting Voldemort. So yes, I do believe Peter had some skill when it came to magic and wasn't a complete failure like some people think.

I can't get this idea of the Marauders x Spider-Man out of my head, so I started writing a bit about the background of each of the Marauders in this AU.

So in this AU, Hogwarts is like Brooklyn Visions Academy, the only difference being that it's located in London and the students are still divided into houses, but it's more like which dormitory sector you belong to and, ultimately, they're not taken as seriously as in canon.

Peter: He's an only child, his father is a paramedic and his mother is a nurse. Due to his parents' shifts, he's somewhat used to taking care of himself. He attends Hogwarts on a scholarship, although he always struggles to maintain good grades and not lose the scholarship. He suffers quite a bit when it comes to balancing his grades and his life as Spider-Man. He's quite close to his parents and his father's death really affected him a lot. After this, he became quite close to Professor Sprout and Professor Flitwick, often turning to them for advice. He's a bit afraid of Professor McGonagall.

James: Like Peter, he's an only child and his parents are quite old. Because of that, he's quite spoiled, but he adores his parents, and woe to the person who insults either of them because James Potter isn't afraid to hit someone. He's the captain of the Hogwarts hockey team. His family is extremely wealthy, so he's always attended private schools and has no problem spending money on gifts for his friends. He's Professor McGonagall's favorite, as he's the best student in his class and has ensured that Hogwarts hasn't lost a match in the last two years.

Remus: Like the other two, he's an only child. I didn't want to completely ignore Remus's lycanthropy, so I decided to make him a mutant. He can control the transformation, but it's quite difficult for him to do so during full moon nights, so he simply opts to spend them as a wolf. He still has scars, but they're from when he was attacked by Fenrir Greyback (who is also a mutant in this AU). Remus managed to defend himself, and that's when he discovered he was a mutant. Lyall Lupin has made a great effort to change his beliefs about mutants since discovering his son was one. Now he and Remus are quite close. Likewise, Remus couldn't ask for a better mother than Hope Lupin. Like Peter, he has a scholarship, and thanks to it, his family can afford to send him to a school like Hogwarts, as Lyall Lupin is a police officer and Hope Lupin works in a bookstore, so they don't have money to spare like James and Sirius.

Sirius: He's a special case. Like in canon, he didn't have a good relationship with his family. For that reason, he likes attending Hogwarts because it allows him to be away from his family for much of the year. Initially, when he and Regulus started attending Hogwarts, they were quite close, but they started to drift apart over the years. Finally, when he turned 15 (about 6 months after Peter became Spider-Man), he ran away from home and lived with the Potters for a while until his uncle Alphard Black managed to become his legal guardian. Sirius goes to therapy once a week, but he's managing quite well. Alphard is also trying to get custody of Regulus, but it's not easy, as the Black family is quite wealthy and probably has the best lawyers in England.

I've been browsing AO3 for hours and stumbled upon a few AUs where a character becomes Spider-Man. I quite enjoy these types of AUs because of the endless story possibilities, considering Spider-Man has a vast array of villains. The best ones I found were where Remus and James were Spider-Man. But I'm here to pitch an even stranger idea: what if Peter Pettigrew were Spider-Man? I mean, the guy is a coward, and I think that would make for a great story opportunity – someone as cowardly as Peter becoming Spider-Man, someone who clearly lacks a moral compass at first. And here's where I think Peter would urgently need the death of someone as significant to him as Uncle Ben was to Peter Parker. It couldn't be any of the Marauders because Peter holds them in a strange kind of pedestal, so the death of any of them might scare him more than give him the push he needs to do good.

So, hypothetically, a character not mentioned in canon could be used: Peter Pettigrew's father. Now, listen, Peter definitely wouldn't use his powers for good at first. I'd bet Peter would use them to steal some small things from stores – these kinds of things would give him some self-confidence, which we know Peter definitely lacked. So Peter's father discovers this, and he and Peter argue. Peter runs away from home, and his father goes after him (similar to what happens in Andrew Garfield's movie). Peter's father encounters the thief Peter just let go and is shot dead. Peter wants revenge because now he has these powers, and that's what he always wanted – now he's more powerful than anyone, and he wants to find the man who took his father from him.

I think his origin as Spider-Man would definitely be much more violent since it would be for entirely selfish reasons, but I also like to think that with the help of the Marauders, they could help him take a better path, especially James. I think he could definitely have a great influence on Peter's morality.

I also like to think that Peter would still be the same shy and kind boy but definitely much less willing to take any kind of mockery, especially after what happened to his father. As Spider-Man, he would be much more himself, as if wearing the mask eliminates that little fear of what others might say.

Lastly, I don't think Peter would be smart enough to create web shooters, so I actually think if I ever write this, I'd give him natural webs like Tobey McGuire's Spider-Man.

The opinions don't matter to me, but please, if you're going to spread hate about Peter Pettigrew, just don't comment. This is an AU, so we're completely taking into account the canonical personality of the character.

Summary: The boys finally land on the perfect name for their group! And it’s all thanks to their favourite Professor.

A/N: I’m back. Finally. Happy New Year, Christmas. 2022!

“Alright, listen up.” James Potter plopped himself on a chair next to his best friend Sirius Black, as he studied with Remus Lupin. Across from them, Peter Pettigrew, Lily Evans and Mary MacDonald sat. “We need a name!” James exclaimed.

“A name?” Peter asked curiously.

“A name for a gang.” James explained. “I mean, people just call us the Gryffindor pranksters. It isn’t right.” He played with his fingers. Sirius closed his book and looked at his brother.

“Okay. What are you thinking?” Sirius questioned. Remus groaned, annoyed that his study session was being interrupted by James and Sirius’ conversation. He loved his friends. They’d accepted him for who he truly was but at times, they remained as stupid as the day he met them.

“Maybe The Gang?” James offered.

“Anyone have any suggestions that don’t suck like that name?” Sirius looked at his other friends. Mary shrugged, sketching in her book. Lily stopped writing and looked up.

“I’m sorry, I couldn’t be bothered paying attention, and as soon as James opened his mouth I lost interest.” Lily defended herself. James faked shock but Sirius just shook his head.

“Focus, Evans. Name for the most amazing group of pranksters to ever roam Hogwarts’ halls.” Sirius said. Lily smiled cheekily.

“Why not Sirius and the three Idiots?” She responded. James stab his heart as if she’d broken it. Remus raised an eyebrow and Peter threw his hands up. “What did we do?” Peter complained.

“Sorry Pete.” Lily apologised. “How about The Gang?”

“That’s just what Prongs said!” Remus replied. “Honestly, Lil. You’re making it awfully hard to defend your case that you’d never end up with someone like him when all you do is the say the same things.” Lily shrugged and returned her attention to her potions notes.

“Okay, what about The Pranksters? Just take away Gryffindor and you’ve got yourselves a fine name.” Mary proudly said. Sirius didn’t want to break her heart.

But luckily he was saved…

“Mr Black, Mr Potter, keep your voices down. This is a library not your common room!” Professor McGonagall whisper-yelled at them. Sirius gave her a sheepish look but James just smirked. “You Marauders.” She groaned as she left.

“Marauders?” Peter questioned.

“Marauders comes from the word Maraud which means to go about in search of things, steal or to attack.” Remus explained patiently.

“It’s perfect!” James yelled excitedly. “The Marauders. That’s what we’ll go by.”

“But we don’t steal.” Sirius said.

“And we don’t attack people.” Peter added.

“We also don’t really go in search of things.” Remus continued.

“Who cares?” James sighed. “Before you explained the meaning of the word, Moony, no one knew what it meant.”

“I did!” Lily responded.

“But it sounds catchy!” James argued. “Come on, boys! The Marauders. The Marauders. Marauders.” James kept going, whispering it into Sirius, Remus and Peter’s ears until they finally gave in.

“Fine, fine, fine.” Remus threw his hands up. “Let’s just throw logic out of the window, why don’t we?”

“I’m sure logic can fly.” James laughed.

“And if it can’t?” Remus asked.

“It can try.” Sirius said, bored.

“Who needs logic anyway when you have pranks, Quidditch and maps?” James smiled. “And an awesomely catchy name such as The Marauders.”

“The Marauders.” All four boys whispered it.

“You aren’t going to spit in your hands and shake it now, are you?” Lily asked.

“Or cut your hands in a blood-oath?” Mary questioned.

“You’re really messed up, Mar.” James said.

“Not as much as someone who names their group something that doesn’t relate to them at all!” She whispered harshly.

“Boohoo.” James replied.

Marauder Headcanons

Do you know how in half blood prince we learn that Severus Snape figured out an easier way to make every potion. I like to think the James Potter was the only kid who could get the potions correctly with the normal instructions to how make the potions, and that Severus started figuring out easier ways to make the potions with the same outcome so that he could do just as well as James with less work. And that every year at the beginning of the year, the three other marauders would play like a game of rock paper scissors to see who got to be James potion partner. 

The marauders never got caught for the same prank twice. If they got caught once it would never happen again at least for that prank.

The only reason Harry lived and James didn’t is because Harry only had two other friends. Harry didn’t have the equivalent of Peter and if he had something would’ve gone wrong.

Mcgonagall knew that all of the marauders were in animagi, and was really proud.

Remus was horrible at care of magical creatures. He was one of the only kids to fail that class, and it was because all the animals knew he was a werewolf in were terrified of him.

As excited James was to have a kid Sirius was even more excited to have a godkid.

The animagus parts of Sirius, James and Peter, after a while, started to impact how they acted. I don’t mean like big ways. I just mean after a while of being transformed, they would forget a little bit that they weren’t the animals still.

If anyone had a nightmare, they would go to Remus’s bed. Not because he was good at comforting them, but because he really liked the cuddles (and was really good at giving cuddles).

Here’s an Idea: Ron, Harry, Hermione, and Neville are just James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter respectfully. (This is ignoring Peter betraying all of them and Sirius going to Azkaban)

Ron is James: both grew up in loving house holds with both parents.

Harry is Sirius: neither grew up in a good situation but ended up in one with friends, they both also ran away at some point.

Hermione is Remus: both where social outcasts for most of there lives and would have preferred a book over people for most of that time.

Neville is Peter: both started of cowardly and timid and grew a sense of belonging and confidence over time.

Marauders & co. at an airport/ on a plane

James: Looks in every shop at the airport, is really hyper up until he gets on the plane, then he’s pretty chill

Sirius: Terrified of flying on a plane (will fly on a literal broomstick but can’t even think about flying in an enclosed space). Brings his skincare to do on the plane.

Remus: Forces everyone to get to the airport early, packs the night before, is at least 20 people’s airport crush. Reads the whole plane ride

Peter: Brings snacks, magazines, games. Gets lost but makes friends with some random person who he’ll never see again

Marlene: Goes into every shop with James, will not chill out on the plane (always asks the flight attendants a million questions), is that annoying person who claps when the plane lands

Lily: Helps Remus rangle everyone into coming to the airport early, has her whole suitcase organised, sleeps on the plane

Mary: Forces everyone to get to the gate early, first in line onto the plane, gets really stressed (especially going through security)

Regulus: Looks chill, but he’s actually really scared of planes (like Sirius), has monogrammed luggage, listens to music on the plane. Sits on the aisle seat

Pandora: Is actually super chill, has the “we get there when we get there” mentality. If no one dragged her along to be early she’d turn up as the gate was closing. Brings her latest craft project onto the plane (not like messy stuff, like crochet or embroidery or smth)

Dorcas: Makes sure no one gets lost, is at least 20 people’s airport crush (like Remus), is willing to put people on one of those backpack leash things. Talks to people on the plane.

Evan: Tired™️. It doesn’t matter if the flight is at 1pm, he’ll still sleep at every chance he gets. Goes crazy when the airport has a Lego shop. Sleeps on the plane (obvi)

Barty: Is extremely annoying. Won’t be ready when everyone has to leave, definitely forgot something at home, is super annoying on the flight (will be that person that “asks questions” when the flight attendants are doing the safety thing), claps when the plane lands.

Marauders & co as things my sister has said (she’s deranged, Istg)

- James: (Talking about storm troopers) look at them running around like tic tacs. Tica tica tica tica

- Barty: When I grow up I’m gonna be a Kidnapper

- Sirius: Can you touch this hole in my foot? Regulus: no. I don’t want to touch the hole in your foot. Sirius: Whyyyyyyyy

- Barty: See ya sisters! Wait are you taking a video? Take a video [regulus]! Okay. See ya sisters!

- Pandora: This foot massager is like dislocated bones wiggling around under skin. I love it

1. James and Sirius would so watch h2o because it’s almost like their animagus, as in they turn into mermaids and they have to hide it. Also, the fact that’s they would be outcast by society if they revealed their secret would remind them of Remus (also Emma Cleo and Ricky go a bit loopy on full moons and they have to hide from the moon and other people, almost like the shrieking shack). Mostly they would watch it just for funsies tho

2. (Kinda spoilers for s1 young royals) Regulus would relate to Wilhelm, they both grew up as the “spare” but then when their older brothers left/died, they suddenly became the important one. They also both had to hide their queerness. Also, regulus would totally learn Swedish and become fluent in it. (Also, he always has captions on because he can’t hear it if the captions aren’t on. I’m totally not saying that because it’s how I watch stuff)

3. I fully believe that James would have read the heartstopper comics before the show came out, and Sirius would be a “heartstopper is cringe” girlie, until James forced him to watch it. Then he would be OBSESSED. I’m talking, reading all the comics, buying them, watching the show on repeat, starting a whole fan account, the whole lot. Also, he’d tease James about the fact that hes nick and regulus is Charlie.

4. Evan and barty would binge heartbreak high in one night, idk why they would like it so much, it just gives off their vibes. Bartys favourite character would be Harper and evans would be ca$h

5. Dorcas would LOVE the chilling adventures of Sabrina because like, it’s witchy and stuff, idk it just gives off her vibes, she would laugh about how wrong they were about witchcraft though. And gossip girl, I actually haven’t watched it so I don’t really know, but my friend said it kinda gave of dorcas vibes and I can see it so yah

6. Omg lily and Mary just give off Gilmore girl vibes. Mary would love Lorelei and lily would love sookie, like so much. They would both be like, edward Cullen level obsessed. And gossip girl, they’d watch that because dorcas put them onto it and they’d have weekly picnics to discuss it.

7. I feel like lily would just relate to Anne, like, I don’t really have a reason behind this one, lily just gives cottagecore girlie vibes

8. Pandora would watch the good place because it’s kinda like upbeat but also really dark and twisted, which is kinda like her. Like I see pandora as being really light and kinda loopy and stuff but she has really dark interests.

9. Pandora and regulus would so watch umbrella academy together, again, it’s kinda dark and a bit out there so obviously they’d both love it. Regulus would relate to viktor, because they both feel out of place in their families. Pandora would try to guess what’s gonna happen next and she’d be eerily right every time.

10. Peter and Sirius’s friendship is silly and I see it as childish in the best way possible, so they’d watch teen titans religiously. Sirius would LOVE starfire (idk why but I just think he would) and Peter would be obsessed with beast boy or robin.

11. Remus would watch shadow and bone for the six of crows parts. He wouldn’t be obsessed with the shadow and bone parts, but with six of crows? YES. He obviously would have read the books (the shadow and bone trilogy and the six of crows duology). He would relate so much to kaz, because they both feel like they aren’t deserving of love and that they shouldn’t love someone because it makes them vulnerable. Also, they both grew up kinda having to fend for themselves. Ok so derry girls, I think he’d just watch it for fun, it would be something he can watch to take his mind off things. I also think that Erin, Orla, Michelle and Clare would remind him of the marauders

12. Marlene would watch atypical for Casey, like Casey would be the reason she watched the show. And I also think she’d just watch kinda shitty shows just because she can. Like Kath and Kim (which is the best show ever made). She would love Kath and Sharon, just because they’re icons. That’s it really

13. James and regulus would watch the end of the f***ing world and I am not okay with this because James would want to watch something with his boyfriend, and even though he’s not as interested in the supernatural/dark sides of the shows, he sees how happy it makes regulus, and that makes it all worth it. Honestly, he’d spend the whole time looking at regulus

14. Regulus and Remus’ friendship gives me life, so naturally I have to have a show that they watch together, which is the queens gambit. Tbh I haven’t watched it, but I just feel like they would both like it.

15. I KNOW THIS IS A NEW ONE BUT I HAD TO ADD IT. Sirius would watch young royals so he could have something to talk about with regulus.

Ok that’s the end of my rambles, that was really great because none of my friends care about the marauders, so dumping my thoughts on random internet people is my next best option. Enjoy 😉.

You know, regulus, James, dorcas, Marlene, Barty, Evan, lily, Mary, Remus and Sirius would have all gotten sweaters today.

But they won’t. None of them will, because sadly, they all had a meeting with a bald man with no nose, one of his club members or a random veil.

Regulus Arcturus black was the most mesmerising person he had ever seen. From the moment he saw him, James was trapped, like a fly in a web. At the time, in second year, he’d thought it was hatred. But it wasn’t, was it?

Over time, he came to realise that what he felt for regulus wasn’t hate at all, but love. Although there is a very, very thin line between the two.

Even when he knew he should’ve hated him, James loved him. James loved him with everything he was.

In the end, hatred and love were two very different things for James Potter.

The moment Regulus Black laid eyes on James Potter, he hated him. Even before that, he hated the idea of James Potter. He hated his stupid face, his stupid, bright smile and the fact that he’d taken away his one lifeline in the cold life he lived.

The thing was, James potter was everywhere, there was no getting away from him. In the beginning, it was fine, fun even, James, along with Sirius, mocking him, picking fights with him. He could deal with that. But then, encounters like that became less and less, replaced with James’ bright smiles, his futile but constant attempts at becoming friends.

That was what broke regulus in the end, what made him admit that what he felt for James potter was more than just hatred. It was love.

Loving James potter was all consuming, regulus became love for James, all the while hating himself and James for it. He hated and loved James potter right up until the end, even after those cold dead hands pulled him into the black water, he hated and loved James more than anything.

In the end, hatred and love were the same thing for Regulus Black.
