Aww, they all so silly! I love It!

Does Couldysseus have another cloud friends? Except Ganymede? Like a Polities or a Eury? Would Poseidon hate them too?

Sorry, it's just that I had a dream that each of the three had one. Ody with Poseidon, Polities with Hades because Persephone thought he was cute, and Zeus with Eury because he was jealous and wanted one for himself. Then the three of them spent the afternoon together like three parents with their children on a family Sunday.

This is very sweet buuuut i'm not totally agree on canonically cloud-shape everyone. Especially Ody's friends or family! You probably don't know - not you, specifically, friend <3 - but Zeus has already an army of clouds, specifically made for worshipping him while he's laying confy on his couch. Cloudysseus is the only one - and has to be so - made by him that has a completely different job. ANYWAY. Here they are <3 As probably Zeus, being an ass, would made them.

I loved the Vengeance saga, an absolute banger. Might be my second favorite after the Wisdom Saga, but here's the thing:

Odysseus wounding Poseidon or even being able to use his trident or trapping Poseidon amidst the storm is all extremely unlikely as in impossible even in the Epic canon.

Before everyone starts a riot, here's why.

Poseidon is a god. Not just any god either, one of the Elder Gods (as in first olympian gods). In fact before the Dark Ages of Greek, from at least Homeric Era to Classical Era, Poseidon was called Wanax or was at least heavily associated with him by the Myceneans and was the old King of the Gods according to them. But I digress.

Point is Poseidon is basically an Eldritch horror on legs while Odysseus, despite his brilliance and strength, is just a mortal, not even a demigod, a human. Albeit one blessed by the wisdom goddess.

Poseidon is a God of storms. And sure Epic might have some different connotations but apparently not cause Hermes himself quotes in track 2 of Vengeance saga Dangerous that no mortal can survive Poseidon's storm I.e he created it so he's the stormbringer confirmed. Plus, Odysseus himself does say that he will make Poseidon stop the storm.

That aside, Poseidon is literally the God of the Seas. No god, not even Zeus, can beat Poseidon in his own bloody domain. So Odysseus has no chance.

Even if Odysseus trapped him on land, Poseidon can create earthquakes with his trident, which is also prominent in his lore. So that's a no, no.

Sure, Odysseus could have made Poseidon drop his trident, but even if that happened in no scenario, would Odysseus be able to lift it. Poseidon's trident was forged by elder cyclops and is one of the three absolute weapons of power in Greek myths ( the other two being Zeus's bolt and Hades's Helm). These weapons were designed specifically for these gods and obey none other. Not to mention it weighs a lot, i.e., "only a god can lift it heavy."

In the impossible scenario that Odysseus lifts it(by some miracle or other), Poseidon could just summon it back to his hand.

For all those saying maybe Poseidon can't do close combat, he has fought titans. He has to all but breathe strongly in Odysseus's direction, and Odysseus will literally die, which is why Odysseus's survival is Odyssey is such a legendary feat.

It also beats the point of Odysseus's legends. Odysseus is the King of Ithaca, sure, but he's no demigod. He doesn't even have any special abilities aside from quick thought or the occasional godly assistance. He's basically a mortal that achieves things everybody, even demigods, failed at all through his wisdom, wit, and trickery. He is only human, but his mind is what makes him on par with the divine.

Odysseus resorting to physical fighting against a literal god goes against his very nature. Odysseus is the smartest Greek hero, a strategist, a manipulator, and he knows very well how to play to his strengths.

In the original works, Odysseus escapes Poseidon the second time due to intervention from both Athena and Ino. Ino is the goddess of protection, especially the protector of sailors. She gifts Odysseus with a veil of protection. And Athena pulls her usual strings.

This is Odysseus playing to his strengths. He has the situation in his favor, a plan as he has convinced these gods either with his past deeds or his unbreakable will to intercede on his behalf. By manipulation or sincerity, doesn't matter. He lies, manipulates, tricks, and thinks his way through, so he would never ever resort to a 1v1, that too physical with a god.

[Circe was a special case. He had the blessing of molly on his side due to him earning Hermes's favor. Through a plan]

I love Epic, I do, and I love Jay even more. He's phenomenal and Epic the musical is an absolute work of genius and I know he said he is taking inspiration from video games and anime which might lead to some divergences but this is a bit too big of a liberty from both the source material and the essence of Odysseus. Sure, it's enjoyable and badass, but it's a disservice to the original Odysseus in a way.

Just wanted to give my honest opinion cause I love Epic so much, especially with its imperfections.

Jewelry Blessings

Alright, so my relationship with my patron gods is pretty fluid- I typically burn a few things as an offering to the god that I need strength from most with a sigil that represents them. To my fellow broke bitch witches, your god knows you’re working with what you’ve got. Don’t sweat it.

Aphrodite, for example-

I mix vanilla extract and cinnamon and throw in a few rose petals, mix it all together, and throw in a ring and my earrings. I burn the sigil and let the ashes fall into the mix, say my prayer, and thank her for her time and patience.

I treat this as a glamour of sorts, and I notice my confidence is always boosted over the next few days when I wear this jewelry (after rinsing it).

Here’s the way I’ve done my worships, as someone who can’t risk having altars and a lot of wiccan material in my home-

Ares- red fabric, matches, pepper

Athena- olive leaves (or oil, but that shit is FLAMMABLE) and citrus peel (orange, tangerine, lemon, etc. )

Dionysus- dried grape peels/raisins, bread crumbs/crusts

Poseidon- salt, shells*, ginger

*just a note: in my offerings, some things don’t actually burn down to ash. Some things are just there as spiritual offerings. I typically have my offering stash in a tall bowl of some kind and toss in my burning sigil, and whatever burns, burns. Always be prepared for everything to catch fire, though.

Y’know I like how some people headcanon Poseidon makes angry fish noises while Athena makes angry owl noises. This is absolutely canon and nobody can convince me otherwise

everyone talks about Nico and hades and Persephone and Thalia and Zeus and Hera and Thalia’s billion half-siblings but what wouldn’t I give to have Thalia and Nick witness the Silent, Awkward Family Dinner between Poseidon, Percy (Poseidon’s Favorite Son), Triton (Not Poseidon’s favorite son), and Amphitrite

we’ve talked about this already, i know, but i have to let you know i’m still obsessed with poseidon getting Bold and wanting to both impress percy and piss off his brothers by inviting nico and thalia into his domain for an Extended Family Dinner, and like. triton’s so fucking mad. triton’s like “father is it necessary to house these...... these cretins -” and poseidon’s laughing like “triton! you make the funniest jokes! of course it is necessary” because i think the most integral thing about poseidon is that he exists to flex on everyone around him. he’s got to be (marginally) a better dad than all those other shittier olympians, he’s gotta flex on triton by reminding triton that percy is the favorite, he even flexes on his own son by being better than percy is expecting. this dude exists to go “you thought and that was a mistake”

thalia’s in it for free food and a night off, and she’s kind of expecting dinner with a show. she does also enjoy doing things that will make zeus go wild. nico, too, enjoys free food, and also dinner with a show, but when percy asks him and makes those big baby seal eyes the remnants of nico’s ludicrously intense crush on percy make themselves known and nico’s like uh uh uh uh yeah uh uh yeah sure. thalia slaps nico’s back three times. she’s convinced he’s choking on something. so nico is convinced to do something that will undoubtedly piss hades off and endanger the hard-earned respect he’s gotten from hades after the titan war, but, you know, things sometimes happen that way when percy jackson makes big baby seal eyes at you.

but i think we both agreed.... this dinner is chaos. percy spends most of it unintentionally winding triton up, and tyson’s just excited to have everyone around, and thalia’s shoving food into her pockets because she can see a vein in triton’s neck bulging. nico is looking between percy and triton and poseidon and trying to figure out why triton is blue, and also trying to come to terms with the fact that percy and poseidon look a lot alike, and that’s a super uncomfortable thing to know about the guy you had a major crush on. percy’s telling tyson a story about how he fought phobos and deimos and poseidon is BEAMING and triton interrupts it to spear the table with his trident shouting YOU DON’T DESERVE FATHER’S AFFECTION!!!!!! and amphitrite is like triton we just replaced this table after the last time you broke it, which was the last time perseus was here. and percy’s like......... he sticks his tongue out at triton and triton goes absolutely feral

poseidon notices nico’s thousand-yard stare and claps him on the shoulder, laughing a low rumbling laugh, and says boys will be boys! percy has jumped over the table and he and triton are just wrestling in the water, triton’s screaming obscenities and percy keeps repeating EAT MY PANTS in latin. tyson is clapping and cheering for percy. thalia, professional shit-stirrer, starts cheering for triton

So I was listening with my partner to Epic: The Musical and was thinking about Poseidon defending Polyphemus in Ruthlessness, and how in Epic and in most media in general Polyphemus is the bad guy, but still Poseidon still defends and gets revenge for his son.

So I was thinking in Percy Jackson, I know there are multiple moments throughout the book series Percy questions if he's meant to become a monster because 9/10 of Poseidon's kids if they don't literally look like monsters they become monsters internally. I mean there is Antaeus (Battle of the Labyrinth), Charybdis a literal monster, Procrustes (AKA Crusty from Lightning Thief), Chrysaor (Mark of Athena), Sciron (House of Hades), and Theseus, are all examples from just the Percy Jackson series of examples of Poseidon's children being monstrous and Percy wrestling with that.

I wonder if Percy ever receives an odd sort of comfort, knowing that even if he should become monstrous, give into his darker thoughts, or even rejected by the rest of the godly/half-blood community, that his father, no matter the argument if Poseidon is a good father or not, will side with his son. It doesn't matter that Polyphemus was in the wrong or not, Poseidon ensured Odysseus payed for his actions against his son tenfold. Would Poseidon not do much worse for Percy?

Just, Poseidon defending his son, and if he cannot defend, then revenge.
