Can someone please explain to me what a "pro ship" is. I've seen multiple rules against it in different communities, but I have no actual idea what it is. Thx

Dont you love it when someone with "proshippers DO NOT INTERACT" likes or reblogs your post when you are pretty obviously a pro-shipper? like even on my main where i dont openly ship incest, im very open about not caring what others ship as long as everybody stays respectful.

I just find it really funny that if they scrolled down even two posts theyd see im one of those filthy pro-shippers; funnier even that the fanart of the siblings they reblogged from me was, in fact, made with salacious intentions.

The proship label says nothing about what content a person consumes.

Proship means you have a "ship and let ship" mentality. The "pro" in proship doesn't stand for "problematic."

"Proship means you ship adult x minor." No it doesn't. Proship means you won't harass or belittle someone who does. Proshippers don't assume the moral values of another person based on fanfiction.

There are Proshippers who are uncomfortable with age gap ships, there are Proshippers who are uncomfortable with shipcest, etc. There isn't a human being on the planet who isn't squicked out by some topics and Proshippers aren't a monolith.

Because AO3 is that site. Because AO3 was that site long before you decided AO3 was better than the sites you bullied us off of before, and I can promise you if someone somehow comes up with a fanfic site you like better specifically for the 'gross stuff' you'll try to bully us off that too so you can benefit from it.

AO3's specific core purpose is to preserve fanfiction, yes, but it was also instigated as a host site for the fanfiction that kept getting yeeted off other platforms like Wattpad. Its designed to preserve all fanfiction, not just the fanfiction you, personally, think is 'allowed' to be written.

AO3 is the site for all the gross stuff the freaks make. We've been there just as long as you. We've been funding it just as long as you have. AO3 has specifically said you have a place here. The timeline was literally:

Wattpad/FF.net/LiveJournal purge fanfics > AO3 is born > The people who's fics got purged moved over to AO3 > AO3 gains popularity as the best functioning site > The people who pushed for the fics to be purged off Wattpad move to AO3 > The same people try to push for AO3 to purge fics.

AO3's source coding is open-access. You go make a polished, strict, rigid site where nothing 'icky' is allowed. You go make a site where you can control what is hosted. We already have our space.

If you are a real-life pedophile, necrophile, or zoophile, you are not welcome in the proship community. Get out and create your own.

As a pro ship person I really don't want this community to be associated with real life paraphilics and pedophiles. Stop tagging pro ship under your posts if you are one.
