if you definitely 100% own all of the dnd 5E content after spending hundreds of dollars on it whether physically or digitally (or both!) u should use this site here as a quick n easy reference point for the content you definitely already legally own because you’re a law abiding citizen who has paid hundreds of dollars for a shittonne of books.
Hi! So... I've seen a lot about DnD over the years. I actually didn't know such a game existed until I watched Stranger Things but after I saw it I can't stop seeing references to the game everywhere. I know this might not be the place to direct my question but if I wanna learn DnD then where would I go? Where I live it's gonna be impossible to find a party to play with and learn in person but I'd like to learn about it if I can from online sources.
OKAY FIRST OF ALL: WELCOME!! i love finding people who are new to dnd!!
probably the best place to start if you're completely new to dnd is the player's handbook (phb). here's a free link. it's not exactly what I'd call light reading, but it has a decent amount of information on what dnd actually is.
if you want to learn how to play, your best bit is, well, playing. iirc there are subreddits and discord servers that allow you to advertise yourself as a player. one of them is our server, where we'll also try to answer any more questions you have!!
if you're looking to make character sheets, beyond is alright for beginners, but limits access to a lot of options. i'd suggest using a google sheet template, which you can find online, or the app 5th Edition Character Creator, which can be found on the play store.
beyond also offers new player's guides to the rules, forums, and the like. it's an excellent resource for newcomers.
final note - i have access to a lot of online sourcebooks, so i'll be updating our pinned post to give you all access to them
hope this helps, anon!!
We often hear generalisations about how two groups differ in some way, such as that women are more nurturing while men are physically stronger.
These differences often draw on stereotypes and folk wisdom but often ignore the similarities in people between the two groups, and the variation in people within the groups.
If you pick two men at random, there is likely to be quite a lot of difference in their physical strength. And if you pick one man and one woman, they may end up being very similar in terms of nurturing, or the man may be more nurturing than the woman.
You can avoid this error by asking for the “effect size” of the differences between groups. This is a measure of how much the average of one group differs from the average of another.
If the effect size is small, then the two groups are very similar. Even if the effect size is large, the two groups will still likely have a great deal of variation within them, so not all members of one group will be different from all members of another group. [full list]
For #GivingTuesday I am sharing my top 9 favorite organizations, foundations and groups to give to today (not in any particular order). as an aroace person with limited sexual experience, no interest in watching porn, and poor sex ed as a teen, there IS something simultaneously funny and vaguely tragic about being 28 adult years old and realising how extremely tiny your frame of reference is for genitalia and deciding you should expand this to better understand bodies (yours and others). and then you're just there like "okay so what the fuck do I even google right now, anyway"
Hey there, I'm back with a new generator for you guys!
As I'm sure you know, finding inspiration can be tricky sometimes, even if you, theoretically, have a ton! I was having this issue and it seemed like I just could not choose when it came to my massive list of moodboards when I felt like designing, so I did what I always do and just removed the aspect of choice entirely. Who needs free will anyway?
Unlike other generators, this one chooses from premade moodboards created by human beings instead of randomly selecting each image. Results were taken from impressive collections on Pinterest and Sta.sh, and at its launch contains around 800 different moodboards! That's like, one adopt every day for two and a half years! I'm probably gonna forget to update this description as well so if you're seeing this in the future then expect even more aestheticy goodness.
Not impressed? Think this pales in comparison to your wicked collection? Or maybe you've got some favorites you wanna share? Well, YOU CAN HELP! Submissions are always open via a Google form linked below the generator. Send links to your collections or just straight-up do my job for me, everything is welcome and you can send as many submissions as you'd like!
Thanks for reading, now go forth and be awesome!
So I have just discovered the absolutely incredible digital library of skull scans. These scans include not only images of bones (mainly skulls) but 3D MODELS THAT YOU CAN VIEW IN-BROWSER!
For example, come rotate my cranium here!
Keep in mind that you need to have the scientific name of the species you’re looking for in order to search for it, but that information’s only a Wikipedia page away.
Definitely gonna be doing some studies with this baby!
Anthro Generator
Animal Generator
Insect Generator
It’s recommended that you read more about it here https://www.deviantart.com/canischiroptera/journal/F2U-Complex-Animal-Anthro-Generators-824271401 ! Lots of explanations, tips and tricks!
Heya, guys! So, I'm a picky nerd who loves me a good generator. I wasn't satisfied with existing animal generators, most of them being very non-specific (i.e., "parrot", "bat", "mouse"...boring!), and so I figured I'd create my own! After garnering an initial list of animals, I decided to take it a step further -- let's add occupations, personality traits, nationalities, and a bunch more to make a more extensive generator for creating a basis for interesting characters! I've compiled what I believe to be the most extensive anthro/animal generators on the internet. We're talking every mammal, bird, fish, reptile, and amphibian on Earth, 5MB of text, takes like a full minute to scroll through the source code at top speed! Countless personality traits, original attributes, body types, and so, so much more await in this puppy.
Feel free to use however you want. Mix and match aspects, ignore parts, add parts, whatever. Please, enjoy! I hope you find this as inspiring and helpful as I have in such a short time. If you have any questions or suggestions, lemme know! Thinking of maybe adding color palettes in the future, though frankly it's real hard to edit this thing, lol This wouldn't have been possible without thewebsiteofeverything.com/ , Wikipedia, and countless other sources that I ruefully didn't record. All credit goes to them, I simply compiled everything together to inspire myself and fellow artists. <3
