I'm in a stressful period, so I made some a Kirby-Ribbon-Fluff with color pencils. I turned out so soft and relaxing !

Back with four others pages ! This takes sooo long... Anyways, the first panel was one I wanted to do the most, and I like how it turned out ! I wanted to do kinda the same thing showing corruption on the next panel, but it would had been a bit difficult to read.

Also, this is 0² first appearance in the 3rd panel. Yes, after 13 pages, whereas this is literally his song. But, hey, we're getting closer and closer the final fight !

The serious things begins ! The challenge for this part (and the rest of the song) was to combine narration and illustration. I could have illustrated each sentence separately, but it would lack continuity. So I decided to draw the last level and the boss just before the actual fight with zero two. This way I could also include miracle matter, who was mentioned in the lyrics. Not for too long though ! I absolutely had to put a precise element in the next panel, so RIP, i guess. This last page was the hardest to do, between the tape to protect the white areas and the composition. But i think it's also my favorite so far, with the one with the eyes !

So, a while ago, I was listening to the theme of 02 with lyrics made by @manontheinternet. I really liked the lyrics, so I decided to adapt it in a comic form ! And with gijinkas, because why not.

Since it's a song, I decided not to use any panel, or at least not conventional ones (like in the 3rd page). It's actually a really good composition exercise ! All was made with thin marker, watercolors and acrylics for the black parts and the whites texts.

I have some other pages finished, some in progress. Hopefully I'll have the motivation to do the whole song !

...Did everyone Read The Announcement Post Very Carefully?

That's right. Kirby of the Stars: The Magic Crystal and The Mysterious Maze was my "A.P.R.I.L. F.O.O.L.S" joke! Sorry! XD

It started at the end of January when I remembered that I'd made a joke grouping of the four Dream Friends that get consistently left out of the novels: Marx, Adeleine, Ribbon, and Dark Meta Knight. I wanted to do something special for them and, partly inspired by Jojo's roleswap cover emulating the FL novels, I thought to make a fake novel cover just for MY forgotten favorites! Gryll and the Fairy Queen are a bonus, because if I was doing this, I would go all out!

I took a huge amount of reference photos, both from the novels and from Tau and Poto's "Find Kirby" books (the only place they've ever drawn Gryll! The Fairy Queen I referenced from Wave 2's ending picture in Star Allies - that's why her crown looks slightly different. Speaking of, Ripple Star Castle (?) is WEIRD looking, y'all!)

At ~40 hours~ of sketching, drawing, painting, refining, trying to get those distinctive Kirby novel touches right (don't get me started on emulating the cover's texture. I was a dumb bunny and remade it by HAND out of a clean scrap about the size of Kirby's body!) this was an immense challenge and the most time I’ve ever put into any illustration, but it was also a huge labor of love for Kirby and its cast!

For what it's worth, I actually did come up with a full on "plot" for this fake novel of mine! (And yes, it was a big stretch to combine Kirby 64 with Amazing Mirror, Milky Way Wishes, and Star Stacker!!)

In the "backstory" Marx attempted to steal/use the large Crystal from Ripple Star ("It's just a prank, bro!") but something happened (maybe the Queen did something) and the Crystal split into shards.

So Marx makes up a fake show and comes to Popstar to dupe all the simpletons there (his words, not mine) to do the bothersome task of gathering all the shards for him to fix the crystal while he sits back and waits, disguising this arduous task as a "fun game."

Kirby and the rest fall for it and start to do Marx's dirty work, going into the mirror maze (related to the Mirror World?) But there, Kirby meets the hardworking fairy, Ribbon, who is working all on her own to try and get the crystals back before Marx can. (Or, if Marx duped the folks of Ripple Star that he'd fix his own mess, he then trapped Ribbon in the maze once they were out of sight!) But so far, she has failed to convince any of his "guests" that she is anything other than a clever attraction. Kirby believes her though and offers his help!

I hadn't fully figured out how the mirror worlders were connected, but I thought it might have been possible they were working with Ripple Star/the good guys (but seemed to be "bad" because they were "scaring" the carnival attendees) or maybe, DMK and Shadow Kirby (who I was originally going to put in the cover as well but it got too crowded for him) were there as guardians to warn everyone to stop messing around with powers they don't understand.

Bandee spends most of his time in the novel outside the maze (to skirt any questions of a mirror Bandanna Waddle Dee) waiting for everyone alongside Marx, where he will eventually figure the jester's game and goes into the maze to warn Kirby and friends. Just as the group seems lost, they will encounter Adeleine, who will be all big sister like and help guide the kids to the exit (using the never fail maze escape strategy of "keep your hand on the right-hand wall")

However, just as things seem to be going well, Marx has used what pieces of the crystal the Popstarians have collected for him to pull his prank, and the gang find themselves lost not in the maze, but in a cartoonish jumble of dimensions!! (Picture each door you go through, whether it's to the kitchen or the castle, leading you to an entirely different planet!) It's amidst this wacky dimensional comedy, trying to grab Marx to get him to Cut! It! Out! that they meet Gryll, who knows Marx well and gives the gang a tip to lure him out (probably involving them all NOT panicking and instead sitting down amidst the chaos and enjoying a simple Adeleine-sponsored picnic, pretending like they're having a great time without him.)

They defeat Marx once he shows up to confront them, complaining they aren't "playing along right" and Gryll takes the battered, bruised jester back for "remedial magic training" or something equally embarrassing for Marx. Back home at last, they find it's sunset now and Marx's One Day Carnival (now being run by the Waddle Dees, who just can't help from helping out) is coming to an end!

However, Kirby, Bandee, Meta Knight, and King Dedede invite Ribbon (and Adeleine and the Mirror Worlders) to enjoy the last hours of the carnival with them before bidding everyone goodbye.

They promise to remain friends, however!

Speaking of friends...

I'm taking a long break from fandom to tackle some new things and take on a new direction in my life. As such, I have taken down all my old work from this blog to get some much needed emotional distance from certain things. That said, I don't require anyone who reblogged any of it in the past to delete those reblogs, nor do you have to cease sharing/distributing things of mine. Just know that if you ask questions, I probably won't be here to answer them.

My love for Kirby and its cast will continue, despite this change. And I do hope the fandom will continue to bloom in my absence.

To everyone who left me such beautiful messages on my previous post, thank you so, so much. I won't forget you all. I hope if our paths cross again, it will be as friends once more. And if not...rest assured that you will forever be a part of my precious memories.

!!NEW KIRBY NOVEL ALERT!!

I...phew... I gotta rein my enthusiasm in for a sec!! (Ahhhhhhhhh!) T-The title is (roughly) "Kirby of the Stars: The Magic Crystal and The Mystery of the Mirror Maze!" To be honest, I'm getting flashbacks to that other maze-themed novel with them cramming in a bunch of unrelated plots and characters except...EXCEPT-...!!

LOOK AT THEMMMM! It's almost everyone who was missing till now?! (At least among the Dream Friends) plus Gryll (!?!) plus the Fairy Queen?!?! (Name drop? Name drop at last?!?) Also EVERYONE IS SOOO CUTE!! (Except Marx, lol but I don't even mind! The fact that he seems to be the antagonist of this piece means we'll probably get more pictures of him anyway! :fingers crossed:)

Finally...! My beloved Salty French Bread getting the spotlight! And to think, I was just telling myself earlier this year that I need to draw something BIG for them for their anniversary as well! >w<

Oh, right! ^^; The summary! Not every character or plot point is mentioned, so I don't know what the explanation is for Dark Meta Knight or if he'll be an illusion (which would be sad...) nor why they're doing Crystal Shards (??) plot with Marx (except they already used Nova in Dreamy Gear...) but even if everyone only makes cameo appearances it could still be the Best Novel Ever?! Anyway--!

One snooze-filled morning in Dream Land, the magician, Marx arrives, inviting everyone to attend his special one-day only traveling carnival! There's food, fun, and games to be had. Best of all, it's free to everyone?! An excited Kirby and King Dedede race each other to see who can pack in the most attractions in before sunset! The biggest challenge? A gigantic maze made of mirrors!

Locate one of the crystals hidden deep in the maze and make your way out to win. But not only is the maze filled with strange, scary reflections that chase you on their own, some say they've seen what look like distant worlds in the mirrors as well?!

Stranger still, Kirby encounters a young fairy girl while wandering the maze who says these crystals are vital to her planet! Is there more to this tricky carnival game than meets the eye?!

In some version, family reunions must be a hell of a thing for Chuchu. I can't help but picturing it as:

-Zero being actually happy of seeing his two "daughters in-law" and reprimending the other Matters that they don't bring someone.

-Sectonia wipsering to her how she's 0's favorite of the two.

And Chuchu just wants to go home already.

Dark Team Crystal!

Since almost no-one else is doing it, I might as well introduce my own Mirror World counterparts for the rest of the Star Allies! I was gonna do Bandana Dee first since he's the only one of the main four not to get a Mirror World equivalent, so instead I decided to start with Adeleine, Ribbon, and Queen Ripple, or as I like to call them, Team Crystal! (DeviantArt version here!)

Bios for each of them under the cut!

Shadeleine: Shadow Adeleine (true name Shadeleine) was born from a combination of the hidden sadness Adeleine keeps bottled up in her from having to leave her old home of Earth behind in the wake of a nuclear cold war and the Dark Matter that possessed her twice years ago. Jaded, cynical, and very lazy, Shadeleine's a gothic juvenile delinquent who thinks her new home is absolutely abysmal and prefers to live alone with her "best friend" Shadow Ribbon. While the regular Adeleine loves traditional painting, Shadeleine prefers spray paint and graffiti wherever she feels like it. Her graffiti creatures are usually very deformed and sloppy, and are very uncontrollable; and yet, in spite of it all, Shadeleine doesn't have the energy or willingness to catch them, thinking they'll just tired and melt - they don't. She's also a bit foul-mouthed and swears whenever she feels like it.

Bow: Shadow Ribbon (real name Bow) was born from Ribbon's insatiable hidden bloodthirst caused from her infamous run-in with Dark Matter. She's what would happen if the poor, rose-haired fairy was possessed by Dark Matter (or more specifically, Miracle Matter), turning the innocent guardian of Ripple Star into a psychopathic, bad-tempered monster who isn't afraid to hurt anyone who gets on her last nerves. Her version of the Crystal has been shattered completely, and the sole shard she has left is corrupted by Dark Matter, shaped like a razor-sharp knife. She has picked up various powers and mutations from Miracle Matter, such as powerful electrokinesis from flapping her wings, extra eyes on her wings that have thermal vision, and the ability to breathe fire at will. She's best friends with Shadeleine, and when I say "best friends", I mean Shadeleine keeps her like a feral beast while S.R. frequently has one-sided arguments with her. She also works as a dreaded, drunk-with-power law enforcer on her version of Ripple Star, and she gets embarrassed from people saying her real name, Bow (Shadeleine calls her this constantly just to aggravate her).

Queen Zero (full name Kona Zero): Queen Zero is born from the darkness and fear left in Queen Ripple from being possessed by 02 years ago. The new leader of Dark Matter having completely possessed her body, Queen Zero is grouchy and mean, but not flat-out evil. Like Bow, she's picked up several powers and mutations from 02, including its cactus tail, halo, the ability to shoot white orbs of energy from her hands, and extra wings that allow her to fly around at speeds much faster than Queen Ripple. In spite of her powers, she prefers to let her right-hand fairy Bow do the heavy lifting. Although it's not shown here, she has a red eye in her mouth like Corrupted Magolor/Magolor Soul, and her tail also wags when she's happy or excited ;3

Adult Ribbon (Pibby of the Stars)

Back in February, my bestie @pokesonicmaster300 posted a drawing of adult Ribbon on DA for his next gen series Pibby of the Stars, and now I intend to draw it in my style! Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything new to add to Ribbon's initial adult design like he hoped I would aside from the star she had on her childhood dress and a ring on her finger.

Buuuuut to make up for it, I gave her separate drawings for her nightgown and a cute patisserie outfit that she wears at the cafe! Oh, yeah, and I gave her nail polish because I'd imagine she'd start wearing makeup and other accessories as she grows up.

While I wasn't all that impressed with the nightgown, I was very happy with how the patisserie outfit turned out. The suit was originally meant to be white, but in order for it to fit Ribbon more (and to stand out from Kirby's white Chef hat), I changed it to pink and gave her cute little crystal buttons to her suit and the chef hat's now red. And as a little side note for that, her ribbon's still under there :3

While we're on the topic of the patisserie outfit, I'd like to confirm one thing about her childhood dream of becoming the next queen of Ripple Star: she no longer has plans on becoming the next queen and has settled herself into the role of a housewife and chef.

I'd also like to mention a little headcanon I have about Ribbon and Pibby: Pibby's favorite breakfast meal is pancakes, so whenever Ribbon takes her little girl over to the cafe for the day, she always gives Pibby double the pancakes to make her happy. Another thing about Ribbon is that she and Kirby alternate who works at the cafe during the week: Kirby works on Monday and Wednesday, and Ribbon works Tuesday and Thursday. They both work at the cafe on Friday to round off the week (taking Pibby with them because they don't want her getting hurt or running off without their supervision), and take the weekend off to relax with their kid.

And another thing about the Crystal now that she's moved to Popstar: she's still got the thing on her (she keeps it locked away from Pibby because she doesn't want her daughter playing with guns), but now the bullets it fires are much faster and stronger than before. And as a bonus, she learned how to convert it into a shield by thinking about her friends and loved ones! Where did I get that? Uh...

But overall, Ribbon's seemed to have got it all together. She can juggle being a fair mother and a top-level chef at the same time!

10 Years of Rainbow Curse!

Today marks the 10th anniversary of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse!... Or, as I like to call it, "Kirby Canvas Curse 2". Like, they were so determined to test out the Wii U's touch screen that they basically turned this game into something like Canvas Curse - except everything's made of clay instead of being turned into a canvas.

I wanted to make a bunch of drawings for this, but with the limited space I was given, I really couldn't fit a whole lotta drawings into this. Really wanted to fit a Galacia or Elluff drawing into this, but I guess that'll wait till another day. Still proud of myself for what I was able to squeeze into here, though!
