Hello!
I hope this ask finds you well. I have a question about your Rose Knights Series!! I know that in a previous post you said you wanted to keep some info and lore on dragons more on the secretive side so that George can talk about it later, but is there any little tidbits or drawings you would be willing to share with us that are spoiler-free in the meantime?
The dragons are so cool to me and I desperately want to see more of them,,,, but I totally understand if you can't share anything more than you already have!
Best regards
I do want to save some Dragon lore for George to share to the cast, BUT! It is a crime for me not to give you guys a little more info about those plant dorks! And there's a lot of things I can share in the meantime that isn't spoilers! So thank you so much for asking about it! <3
To start things off, let me say that even if the Dragons don't have the same obsession about colors as the Roses do, there is STILL meaning behind the 3 Main Colors Dragons fall under: Green, Black and White. While the Roses' magic and color is tied to personal characteristics, traits, and identity, Dragon magic and color is influenced by the relationships they have OUTSIDE of themselves. Family, friends, rivals, enemies, lovers- all these things help shape the kind of magic and color a Dragon will grow into.
Similarly to Red Roses, Green Dragons are the perfect average. Having just the right amount of social flexibility and mental stability means most Green Dragons will be able to harness all parts of their magic without difficulty. Black Dragons, having cut themselves off from all forms of relationship, develop strong bodies as tough as metal. But they lose all ability to shift their form, and there's nothing left for them to share with anybody else. A small price to pay to not need anybody to save you though, right? White Dragons, while physically the weakest and most vulnerable of all the colors, usually have an army's worth of Dragon underlings or friends who are more than happy to do all fighting on their behalf anyway. As recompense, White Dragons can charge anything with enough magic to make them an unstoppable and unkillable force for a short time.
Dragons with lighter colors have more freedom to shift their bodies and to share energy/power with someone else. Dragons with darker colors are harder to hurt, with more weight to crush anything that tries pushing them back.
And quickly giving a shoutout to Colored Dragons for being absolute headaches but VERY pretty and talented and amazing all the same! Colored Dragons are obviously Dragons with Rose ancestry. And just like Green Roses, Colored Dragons can have any combination of Rose and Dragon powers.
