“Eve’s ingestion of the forbidden fruit becomes a heroic act of rebellion against the tyranny of God and Adam. This closely parallels how socialists like Mikhail Bakunin (1814–1876) used Satan’s battle with God as a symbol of their fight against a capitalist and monarchist society (God being the ultimate monarch).”

OK, here’s a tarot spread I made up for talking to Lucifer.
It’s an inverted cross, because bite me, that’s why.
Who are you to me?
Who am I to you?
When did you enter my life?
What must I learn?
What can I give you?
Anything else?
I did a whole ritual to accompany this. I cleared the kitchen table and set up two chairs, one for me and one for the devil. I lit my homemade Lucifer prayer candle, and some frankincense (because if Jesus can have nice things Lucifer can too, dammit). I put on my moldavite pendant, and some Ruth White on the stereo. Then I sat down and invited Lucifer to come sit with me. I shared a piece of fruit with him, because Eden/knowledge/you know the story. Then I shuffled the cards and commenced the reading.
You don’t have to do a whole song and dance like that, but I do recommend you take some steps to consciously invite Lucifer to the reading and make him comfortable. Make sure you are making yourself comfortable too, and avoid “sucking up” excessively. Your mileage may vary, but I find he hates it when I place him too far above me. Be a little egalitarian about it. Invite him to your table like a friend, and behave as a generous host.
I’m not going to share my results because that’s between me and the devil. Please feel free to use this spread if you like, and alter it to suit your needs. Obviously it could be adapted to talk to many other deities, although the inverted cross shape might not be your jam in that case.
hey everyone!!! im not sure if anyone remembers my posts about offerings to the Sins, but i finally made a tarot spread for them (the posts can be found here and here.)!! if you want to learn how to do this spread, please read below! basically, this tarot spread is going to be about you and your relationships with each of the Sins. the cards will tell you two things:
what you need to improve on within yourself (having to do with the Sin you are reading for. Ex. if i pulled Ace of Cups for Asmodeus, that would mean that i would need to let my love show and work on not repressing my positive emotions)
your general status with that Sin
now, lets get to the juicy bits! each card will represent one of the Seven Deadly Sins. each Sin corresponds to a demon - each one is apart of a different kingdom within Hell. below, you’ll see which card corresponds to a Sin’s demon.
Pride - Lucifer. this card represents your pride and self-worth, as well as your relationship with Lucifer.
Wrath - Satan. this card represents your power over yourself and others, and your true abilities only shown by rage.
Envy - Leviathan. this card represents your jealousy towards others, and how capable you are of achieving your goals.
Greed - Mammon. this card represents your generosity towards yourself and others.
Sloth - Belphegor. this card represents your motivation and your capabilities.
Lust - Asmodeus. this card represents your self-love and love of others, and how much love you are willing to give.
Gluttony - Beelzebub. this card represents your need to thrive and prosper.
You - this card represents you and your path in the future.
Your past relations - this card represents your past relationships, accomplishments, and failures (having to do with the sins.).
please, please, please don’t be afraid to get into detail with the Sins! if you need to do another reading (pendulum or tarot) with one or two or all seven of them, go ahead! ask them things!! they will be happy to hear from you. well, that’s it! i hope anyone and everyone who uses this spread gets good results!!!! and let me know if you do use it!!!

The passage in Isaiah that became associated with the fallen angel speaks of the bright Morningstar explicitly as a Fallen Star as well, fallen due to his pride that led him to rise against God himself. The fragment is explicitly not about our Lucifer - but this is essentially how he's seen in Christianity (and where the Isaiah association generally ends).
Challenging God is something that certainly demands extraordinary courage. The consequences Lucifer suffered were painful. And yet, the dawn always rises again, and so does the Morningstar, persistent and unbroken. Thus, Lucifer's name can be linked to those qualities, as well as to hope, rebirth and new beginnings.
As the church considered it sinful, sex became naturally associated with Lucifer. Later, when the Romantic Satanists began to reclaim his and Satan's symbolism - whether treating them separately or as one entity - they reevaluated this association more positively.
The reason why I'm talking about it here is that it coincides perfectly with the Morningstar being the planet Venus in both astrology and various religions connected with love and eroticism.
In my experience, the planet's association with various kinds of love, not just romantic and sexual, mirrors Lucifer's nature as well.
Lucifer is, of course, also a spirit of intellect whose light can be understood in connection to that as well. As the Serpent and ever further, they are encouraging us to question, to practice critical thinking, to learn and reflect.
Not necessarily about Gnosticism, gnosis is spiritual knowledge acquired in personal experience. It is subjective, of course, but beautiful. In a more spiritual interpretation of the Eden myth, the knowledge Lucifer the Serpent opens the way to is gnosis.
Note - you might have heard the term UPG. In the spiritual context, it stands for unverified personal gnosis. While, in my opinion, personal gnosis would be enough - it's always unverified, in the end - the term helps us coexist while understanding things in our own ways.
There's another, deeply personal way I've experienced the light Lucifer brings - the light of comfort that shines in the dark, the sweet flame warming me when I need support.
There are certainly more ways you can interpret Lucifer's name! Do you have your own?

Satanic Lockscreens
Hi there! So I saw this post and I wanted to ask, how to you view and work with Lord Satan, and how do you differentiate him from Lord/Lady Baphomet? I've always been confused about Satan as a daemon, and never really knew if he was the same as Baphomet or not or how to differentiate them.
I've been wanting to work with Satan as his own deity/daemon for a while now, but never really knew how to go about it.
Really interested to know how you view them both!
~ Many Blessings ~

two reflections of one energy. i'd connect lucifer to this, as well (though keep in mind that this is my personal beliefs, and it's alright and even encouraged to form your own - do what feels right for you first and foremost). they're all connected, not dissimilar to the father/the son/the holy spirit all being apart of the same one deity, but being different aspects of said deity. think of them as like a hydra, having three heads with different faces and different brains, and one body that connects them. the heads are their own identities, while also being the same body that connects one to another. i hope that makes sense, because it makes sense to me.
anyway, another way i personally differentiate satan and baphomet is if satan was red, and lucifer is blue, then baphomet is purple - a peaceful middle ground between the two. additionally, if lucifer is more angelic and satan more demonic, then baphomet is a neutral ground between the two. baphomet is also divinely androgynous, whereas lucifer can be seen as being feminine, satan more masculine (though labelling demons as strictly one or another doesn't really slot neatly into my practice, i need to express that. it works for some people, but not for me).
i'm a little dissociative when writing this, so i hope this makes sense. i just want to express differences in order to help you focus on one or another. but again! it's totally fine to disagree with me and/or form your own belief system regarding this. this is solely just how i view it within my own practice.
Celebrating the stories of the Heavenly Rebellion and of the Garden of Eden, Lightrising - the renewal of light at the Winter Solstice - is perhaps the most important festival in my developing liturgical calendar. This year will be the first time I'm celebrating it, so it will be a kind of experimental celebration, but I decided to share my ideas here.
EDIT: to make things clear, the holiday is created by me.
[Image description: the post begins with four black and white drawings, illustrations of Paradise Lost:
The rebel angels falling, Michael commanding the triumphing angels loyal to God
Lucifer speaking to the Fallen, raising his spear belligerently
Lucifer flying to land on Earth, a sphere among the stars
Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, Eve giving the fruit to Adam
All pictures by Gustave Doré.]
The holiday lasts seven days, each dedicated to an event or motif from Luciferian mythos:
Start: the dusk two nights before the Solstice Night
End: the next dusk
Theme: Rebellion in Heaven, the struggle for justice and liberation.
Celebration ideas:
Bless and light a Lightrising Candle. Any candle big enough to not burn out too soon will do. Let it burn for a while to symbolize the fires of rebellion. Remember fire safety. Before, you can have some fun decorating your candle!
If your practice involves acts of transgression and reversal (for example an ex-Catholic saying Credo in reverse), now is a good time for that. While such things can be helpful for those with religious trauma, make sure to be gentle with yourself and don't overdo it in a way that would hurt you.
Seeking out ways to help someone disadvantaged by the toxic system we live in (though remember it's always a good time for that!)
Start: the dusk one night before the Solstice Night
End: the next dusk
Theme: the Fall
Celebration ideas:
Instead of lighting the Lighrising Candle, cover it with a dark cloth until the Lightrising Dawn.
Shadow work and cathartic activities.
You can wear something to signify mourning.
Start: the dusk of the Solstice Night
End: the next dusk
Theme: the Fallen rising again. Survival, persistence, hope, and renewal - even in face of Hell.
Celebration ideas:
If possible, the Lightrising night is a good time to hold a vigil.
At dawn you can again light the candle you lit on the Night of Rebellion and let it burn for a while. If you were not holding a vigil, you can just do that when you wake up.
Magic for healing and regeneration.
Start: the dusk one night after the Solstice Night
End: the next dusk
Theme: fallen angels becoming demons and making Hell their own. The story of the building of Pandemonium.
Celebration ideas:
Making offerings and giving thanks to the demons in your life. Taking time to spend with them and appreciate them.
A shared meal with them.
DIY and upcycling.
Start: the dusk two nights after the Solstice Night
End: the next dusk
Theme: Lucifer as the Serpent and the bringer of knowledge to humanity.
Celebration ideas:
Did you know that in the Christian tradition, the Christmas tree was often associated with the tree of Eden? You can easily subvert and adapt it for your practice, and even make your own decorations!
Decorating and blessing fruit to be offered and eaten on the two following days.
Studying philosophy (or other things!)
Start: the dusk three nights after the Solstice Night
End: the next dusk
Theme: Eve as the mother of humanity, and her decision to take the fruit of knowledge and share it with Adam.
Celebration ideas:
Sharing a meal with Eve, Adam, and the Serpent. Eating the fruits you blessed the day before.
Discussing or, if alone, just reflecting on what you learned yesterday.
Sharing knowledge with others. For example, if celebrating in a group you can do short talks about things each of you is knowledgable about, or if solitary you can make a post on Tumblr!
Start: the dusk four nights after the Solstice Night
End: the next dusk
Theme: humanity leaving Paradise. But it's not a sad holiday. As the Day of Pandemonium is dedicated to the demons of Hell, this day celebrates being human on Earth.
Celebration ideas:
It is a great time to spend time with your beloved people and do things that bring you joy. If you celebrate with others, you can incorporate the tradition of exchanging gifts on that day.
Animals count as earthly loved ones too! If you live with an animal friend, maybe give them a special treat?
The Day of the Earth is also a good time for ancestor veneration, and to make offerings to your local land spirits - including local folk devils.

(based of the lord's prayer)
Our Liberator, who wanders the earth, blessed be thy name;
my kingdom come;
my will be done;
in my life as it is in my ambitions.
Give us this day our daily lesson.
And forgive us our ignorance,
as we learn from our mistakes.
And lead us not into obedience;
but deliver us from tyranny.
For thou art the bringer of light,
wisdom and audacity,
For ever and ever.
Amen.
What kind of bird is Azazel associated with?
In the extra-canonical text the Apocalypse of Abraham (c.1st CE), Azazel appears as an unclean bird who came down upon the sacrifice which Abraham prepared. (This is in reference to Genesis 15:11: "Birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away" [NIV]).
The Apocalypse of Abraham describes him as a carrion bird.
Birds of prey or predatory birds, colloquially known as raptors, are hypercarnivorous bird species that actively hunt and feed on other vertebrates (mainly mammals, reptiles and other smaller birds). Although predatory birds primarily hunt live prey, many species (such as fish eagles, vultures and condors) also scavenge and eat carrion.
Birds of prey such as hawks, falcons, eagles, osprey, vultures, and owls are familiar carnivorous birds.
Birds that are regularly known as carrion-eaters include: vultures, buzzards, condors, caracaras, eagles, hawks, crows, ravens, and other large corvids, gulls, skuas, and terns
