5/36 with Toya and Harumichi for the fic prompts!

5. "Come here. Sit down and tell me what's going on."/36. "Please, look at me."

Toya’s… different.

Very different today.

It’s not quiet pride. Something’s actually wrong.

It’s a different type of tension in the house. Not the one that both of them had gotten used to, not the one that has slowly started thawing as time goes on…

It’s so strange that Harumichi finds himself missing a note on Queen of the Night. He hasn’t missed that note since he was a teenager.

“Are you alright?” Narin asks, shocked.

Harumichi sighs, and Toya rushes down the stairs.

“Did someone die?!” He snaps, his eyes wild, and Harumichi shakes his head.

“No, no. I’m sorry. Just… Narin, can you…” He starts, and Narin glides toward his office.

Toya looks at him, and Harumichi motions for him.

“Sit down.”

Toya looks at him confusedly, but he steps over.

He gently sits down, and he looks at Harumichi again.

“What is it?”

Harumichi feels his tongue start to tie up. He’s a better musician than speaker. He doesn’t know where to start.

“Can you tell me what’s wrong?” He finally says, and Toya looks up.

“Nothing’s wrong.” He lies so easily.

When did he become so practiced in the fine art of lying? How many times has he lied without Harumichi realizing?

“Don’t lie to me.”

And Toya just… sighs.

“…Why?” He asks.

“Why what?”

“Why can’t you see me for who I am?”

Harumichi tilts his head.

“What are you talking about? You’re my child, I—”

“That’s it!” Toya snaps. “That’s it! You see me as nothing but your child! As that little boy! Father, in less than two years, I’ll be a man! Why can’t you see me as such?!”

Harumichi shakes his head.

“You’ll understand when you have children of your own. You could be 50, you’ll still be my child.”

Toya tenses up, and his fingers slip into his hair.

“Look at me.” He pleads. “Please, look at me! See me for who I truly am, not who I was!”

Harumichi shakes his head.

“Toya, that is one thing I cannot do!”

Toya chuckles.

“Of course. Of course you can’t. This is why I didn’t want to talk about it. You’ll never allow me to fly free from the birdcage.”

He stalks away, and Harumichi sighs.

Just… sighs.

He’s not a man. He doesn’t understand that he’s not a man yet.

When Harumichi was his age, he made mistake after mistake and almost lost everything until he fell into Narin’s arms. Almost lost his life.

Hatsuaki took after Narin. Kamui’s always marched to the beat of his own drum.

But Toya, he’s just like Harumichi. Despite how they both deny that to each other.

He’s young. He’s desperate.

And he’s going to fall into the wrong arms. The arms of a devil, rather than an angel.

But he can stop history from being twisted. He can keep him away from that devil as much as he can.

And when he taps out those notes, it’s that perfect sonata again.

15 & 34 for akitoya, 7 for toya and the tenma sibs :3

HELLO. Sorry this is so late, but here you go!

15. “Baby, you’re shaking.”/34. “Hey, just look at me, breathe.”

Akito takes a breath as he steps out of WEEKEND GARAGE.

Toya was supposed to come over right after his library committee meeting, but it should have ended an hour ago and he didn’t text to let Akito know he’d be late.

So he retraces Toya’s route. He always takes Main Street, he likes to check on the arcade and see if any of the plushies are something Saki or Ena would like.

But he looks into the arcade, and there’s no familiar split-toned hair in there.

Kusanagi is, though, and he steps over to her.

“Hey, you seen Toya?” He asks, and Kusanagi tilts her head.

“Aoyagi-kun? I ran into him, he won that big Pompompurin over there for Saki. But then he rushed out, something about being late for practice already.”

Akito shakes his head.

“He never made it to WEEKEND GARAGE and he’s not responding to my texts.”

Kusanagi raises an eyebrow.

“That doesn’t sound right. You want me to call Tsukasa? He has a sixth sense for where Aoyagi-kun is.”

“No, not yet. He’ll freak out.” Akito responds. “I’m just retracing his steps.”

Kusanagi leans back on the crane machine.

“Hmm… wait, shit.” She starts. “I remember, he was complaining about how some violinist just off the street was so bad that he felt bad for the violin.”

Akito’s eyes narrow.

“Shit. Thanks, Kusanagi. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Kusanagi waves goodbye to Akito as he runs out the door, and Akito’s heart is beating out of his chest.

He rushes right off the street and into an alley, and he hears familiar heavy breathing.

Toya’s right there, and he’s leaning against the wall.

“Hey.” He starts, and Toya looks away from Akito. ”…Partner, you’re shaking.”

”Am I?” Toya gasps, and Akito gently reaches out to put his hands on his shoulders.

“Look at me. Breathe.” He whispers, and Toya sucks in a breath.

And then he looks up at Akito, and those eyes aren’t full of pain like he’s expecting.

In fact, they’re… wild. Like storm clouds.

“Partner, what’s going on?” He asks, and Toya smiles.

“My knees are jelly, I can’t breathe, and I’ve never felt more alive.” He sighs. “That violinist, I…”

“You what?”

Toya picks something up from his side, holding it up to Akito.

“I played.” He whispers, as he shows Akito a piece of chalk. “I played the violin. I snatched it out of his hands, tuned it properly, and actually played.”

Akito holds his shoulders tighter.

“You’re kidding.”

Toya shakes his head and wipes his mouth.

“No, I’m not. I threw up afterwards, and I feel like I’m going to die, but I did it!”

Akito can’t help the bright smile that pulls across his face.

“We have to celebrate.” He starts. “I’ll buy cookies for everyone at WEEKEND GARAGE. I’m so proud of you, partner!”

Toya’s eyes light up even brighter, but then he covers his mouth with his hand.

“I don’t think I’ll be able to eat.” He sighs, but Akito just laughs.

“Okay, come on. WEEKEND GARAGE can wait. You wanna go home?”

Toya shakes his head.

“No, of course not. I don’t want to tell my father, he’ll get the wrong idea. And the idea of telling anyone other than Tsukasa-senpai right now feels… overwhelming.”

And then Toya leans onto Akito’s shoulder.

“…Let’s go somewhere we’ve never performed before. Just me and you. So we can sing together on the street in front of a bunch of strangers and let them wonder what the occasion for such a big performance is. What do you say, partner?”

Akito reaches a hand over and threads it into Toya’s silky hair.

“I don’t think I’ve ever heard a better idea.”

7. “Hey, I’m with you okay?”

It’s silent.

Too silent.

Tsukasa knows that silence too well.

Toya’s cloaked in it. Barely even breathing.

“My love.” Tsukasa starts, and Toya turns to him, not even speaking.

Just more silence.

“What happened?” He asks, and Toya shakes his head.

Saki puts down her phone and grabs Toya’s hand gently.

“You don’t have to talk. But… we’re here for you, okay?” She says, and that seems to get Toya to look up.

“…I’m sorry.” He says. “You get one night out of the hospital, and I can’t stop moping around.”

“It’s okay.” Saki giggles. “You’re my family, right? And family helps each other.”

“That’s right.” Tsukasa sighs. “Family helps each other. I’m here for both of you, whenever you need me. And I know you’d both be there for me if I needed you.”

And Toya looks up, and he gets a slight light in those gray eyes of his.

“…Thank you, Tsukasa-san.”

Trick or treat!

(i genuinely have ur AO3 dashboard pulled up all the time just so i can refresh and see if you posted)

-CorrosiveIcchan (my AO3 user ^^)

Oh, hey! Nice to see you!

Since you have Icchan in your username…

Train rides like this are always so quiet.

Ichika clutches onto her bag and sits on a train, watching as it slowly empties out as she gets closer to her destination.

Tsukasa-san is there too, a comforting arm around her.

It’s just them for now, they were the only ones available when the call came to the Tenma house.

Saki’s on a respirator. Breathing through a tube.

Her parents are driving over, and Ichika and Tsukasa are sitting on a train.

There’s nothing to talk about. Nothing to react to.

There’s a comforting squeeze on her arm. She’ll be fine. Saki’s always been fine.

But Tsukasa-san’s face is painfully neutral. He doesn’t have the energy to smile.

It’s not like Ichika can blame him. Who could smile like this?

He’ll be smiling soon enough. He’ll fake a smile and cheer Saki up like he always does.

And Tsukasa-san takes a breath as they approach their station, putting on that fake smile as he leaps out of his seat, extending his hand to her.

“Come on, Ichika! Saki needs us! Turn that frown upside down!”

And Ichika takes a deep breath and tries to lift her lips, but Tsukasa-san’s face makes it clear that she’s not smiling.

“It’s okay.” He says. “I’ll smile for both of us.”

trick or treat!! :3c

You get…

And then Arata throws the door open.

“You’re not actually breaking up with me, right?” Arata says, voice cracking, and Souma’s eyes widen.

“Oh, come on, Arata. I was kidding, I’m not actually breaking up with you.”

Arata walks over and practically dives into Souma’s bed, his hands grabbing the back of Souma’s jacket.

And suddenly, Souma feels really pathetic for getting so upset over something so stupid.

“I’m sorry for scaring you.”

“I’m sorry for giving her ammunition to use in your fights.” Arata responds, muffled by Souma’s shoulder.

“Nah, it’s not that big of a deal, really. I’ll just write another set of imagines to piss her off more.”

Ok 30 for IchiSaki

30. “Shut up and kiss me.”

“Icchan…” Saki whines, leaning back in her chair.

“Saki, what’s wrong?” Ichika asks, and Saki puts her head in her hands.

The worst-case scenarios keep running through her head. She’s feeling sick, she ran into someone who was sniffling—

“I’m cold…” She mutters, and Ichika immediately pulls her jacket off and throws it on her.

“I’ll get you a blanket, one seco—!” She starts, and Saki tosses her an amused glance.

“Not blanket cold, Icchan! You’ve gotta realize when a girl wants to cuddle!”

Ichika can feel herself turning red.

“Saki… I thought you were getting sick.”

“Oh, come on, Icchan. I know diseases like to kill me specifically, but I’m not coming down with something every time I say I’m cold! Come here!”

Ichika sighs and moves her chair closer to Saki’s, reaching over to hold her.

“Please don’t scare me like that, Saki…” Ichika groans, and Saki laughs as she curls up into Ichika.

“Oh, Icchan, shut up and kiss me.”

Ichika laughs gently and leans over to plant a kiss on Saki’s lips, and Saki smiles at her.

…And then she sneezes.

“…Allergies?” Saki tries, and Ichika leaps to her feet and grabs a blanket, throwing it around her.

“Come on, bed.”

“Ughhhh, Icchan!”

for the prompts thing. 40 and whatever toya relationship you want >:3

40. “Please don’t let me fall.”

A/N: White Day AU brainrot’s been getting Alto lately so I should probably take it here too, lol.

You know, Toya thought he’d gotten used to heights, but being on the back of an unfamiliar dragon makes him realize that he certainly hasn’t.

He knows how Ena moves, how she shifts, but not Akito.

And the once-distant fear returns to his chest.

“A-Akito!” Toya gasps, as Akito turns into a roll with zero warning.

Thoughts rush through his head. Falling, spinning, being torn away from everything he knows.

His head is killing him. He can’t— He can’t do this.

God, he’s a failure as a Black Rose— Who would expect the legendary Ice Dragon to be scared of heights? He’s a dragon rider, for fuck’s sake! The greatest in the kingdom!

But he can’t handle this. The twists and turns and the feeling of being so wildly out of control.

Akito pulls him along like a damn hurricane. As agile as the wind.

“Are you having fun?” Akito laughs, and Toya’s grip on his scales gets tighter.

And he can only bring himself to say one thing.

“Please don’t let me fall.”

Akito immediately stops twisting, and he turns into a normal flying position.

“Why would you fall? You’re my treasure.”

And Toya…

Toya can’t help but laugh.

Right. He’s not going to fall.

This is a free flight. Not a combat situation.

They’re supposed to be having fun.

And if Toya can trust Akito with his life in combat, he can certainly trust him with his life here. When it’s just the two of them.

hi im back for more.. 5 for the angst starters with toya and harumichi.. (or maybe 14..)

5. “You don’t own me.”/14. “I give up. You won.”

The day Toya came home with tears in his eyes and a bruised cheek was shaping up to be the worst day of Harumichi’s life.

He had just tried to offer some polite advice, but Toya had barricaded his door so Harumichi couldn’t get in.

“You don’t own me, Father! I’ll find something else to do with my life!”

But as the days went on, the resistance only slowed.

And even as Toya tried to fit in with Tsukasa’s troupe, which is much better in Harumichi’s eyes than being a street musician, he kept mumbling about something being off.

And eventually, Toya walks in with a look in his eyes.

“I give up.” He sighs. “You win. You’re right. I was born to be an instrument. There’s nothing I can do about that.”

“What happened to being a part of Tsukasa’s troupe?” Harumichi responds, and Toya sighs.

“Tsukasa-senpai doesn’t need me. He never has. His troupe is so perfectly structured and set up, there’s no room for me. There’s no place for me anywhere but at the piano.”

And true to his word, Toya does begin daily practice again. He does his work, plays the piano, goes to school, and nothing else.

Tsukasa keeps trying to drag him to his troupe, but it doesn’t work. Toya slowly stops accepting his calls, and that’s what starts to make Harumichi’s chest tighten.

He… doesn’t want to speak to Tsukasa.

And finally, he notices the light in Toya’s eyes has vanished.

It’ll be back, he tells himself. It’ll be back and Toya will be himself again. The music will save him.

But Toya’s never quite himself again.

And for the first time since Harumichi was a child too scared to be himself, he doesn’t know what to do.

idk if you still want to take requests for the angsty sentence starter thing, but maybe 1 for akitoya, and then 13 and 17 for toya and harumichi? you can pick one or all of them haha

YES YES I AM THANK YOU GREAT PROMPT CHOICE I LIKED THIS :DD

1: “I’m just so afraid.”

Fuck. Fuck.

Akito can’t breathe.

He has to practice. He has to keep going.

The night stretches out, and that’s just another reminder of how Akito can’t stop.

Chasing that moon. That… gorgeous, delicate moon.

There’s so much fear in his chest. It’s suffocating.

That gentle voice is ringing in his head, saying words that make Akito’s heart shatter. Cutting him every time he tries to pick up the pieces.

“Don’t you think it’s about time you grew up and stopped chasing some tiny event that no-one’s even heard of outside of this town?”

It was a long time ago. Akito knows that. But…

But it’s still ringing in his head. He can’t stop it.

And that face is in his vision. Bruised and cold.

So cold.

He’s a terrible partner.

That voice keeps ringing in his head no matter how hard he sings.

And it’s only getting louder. Louder and louder.

“Akito!”

It’s almost like… he’s here…

His eyes flutter shut, and there are suddenly arms around him.

He doesn’t even need to see them. He knows those manicured fingers and long arms.

“…How’d you know?” Akito asks, and Toya chuckles softly.

“Partner sense.” He responds, but then his tone changes. “What are you doing, Akito?”

“Practicing.” Akito sighs.

“That wasn’t practice. That was… dangerous. Violent. Your voice was a honed blade.”

“Oh, come on. You’re exaggerating.”

“Am I?”

Akito stays silent, and Toya sighs.

“I’m afraid, Akito. I’m just so afraid for you.”

There’s another pang in Akito’s chest, and…

And Akito doesn’t know what to do.

So he just stays silent. In Toya’s arms. Feeling the pain that’s shared between them.

“Come home with me. My parents are out, we can play Pokémon or something.”

And Akito wants to tell him that he needs to keep practicing. That he’s also afraid. That he’s scared that Toya will leave him again, for good this time.

But he knows his partner. He won’t let that go.

So instead he just laughs softly and opens his eyes.

“Okay.”

And again, the pain continues. But that’s alright.

It’s alright for now.

13. “You never listen to me.”/17. “I have to leave.”

It’s always so… messy whenever Harumichi and Toya get into a fight.

Toya’s pacing the floor back and forth, an intense expression on his face.

It’s like looking in a mirror.

“You never listen to me!” Toya starts, his eyes flashing with a cold fire. “Why?! Why can’t you understand, Father?!”

“You’ll understand when you’re older.” Harumichi simply says, keeping his own temper under control.

It should come like second nature, but there’s a strange bubbling in his chest.

He’s a child. There’s no reason to yell.

But Toya keeps going, and he can’t keep repeating the same thing over and over again.

“Insolent child! You’re so stubborn!”

“Pot, meet kettle!” Toya snaps back. “Yes, I’m so stubborn! It’ll lead me to ruin! Then to my ruin I shall go! Why do you insist on dictating my life?!”

“Because for us, there is no other path for happiness than classical music!”

“No other path?! If someone told you that your only path to happiness was to be a doctor, when you can barely stand going to the hospital to see Saki, would your heart not strain to be free?!”

That sentence… breaks something in Harumichi.

And there’s an echo in his head.

That grating voice.

“Worthless, worthless, worthless! God, why did I have to be cursed with a child like you?!”

“That’s different.” Harumichi says, almost robotically, and Toya’s entire body tenses up.

“You don’t even care, do you? All you want is for me to be made in your image! I need to leave, I’ll be at the Tenmas’!”

Toya walks out the door and slams it behind him, and Harumichi collapses onto the couch.

He’ll never understand, will he?

That this is the only path for their family. It’s what they’re meant to do, and people will try to pull them away from it all their lives.

And they’ll go, for only a pinch of that sweet thing called love.

Fate has decided it long ago.

And all Harumichi can do is try to drag Toya back from that pain, that torture before it’s too late.

7. How many ideas do you have for fics right now?:

So. So many. At all times. A few of them are

-Arata and Akito decide to team up to tease the shit out of one of Arata’s fans that is also Souma’s mortal Twitter enemy

-A certain fic of a certain universe that we’ve been working on

-More Star Trek and MOTW AU stuff

-a baby gets dropped on WEEKEND GARAGE’s doorstep

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, which one would it be?:

Seasons May Turn, But Things Still Stay The Same. It’s the funniest one and I would love to see Kamui being a moron.

19. Post a snippet of one of your WIPs:

He’s still zoning out when Kuba looks past Arata and addresses Akito directly.

“And who are you?” She asks.

Next thing Akito knows, the chaotic spirit of Mizuki Akiyama overtakes him and he has the funniest idea.

“Akito. Akito Tono.” Akito says, reaching his hand out to Kuba. “I’m his little brother.”

Arata’s surprised for a split-second, but then he smirks and reaches out to ruffle Akito’s hair.

“Yeah, Aki’s such a cutie, isn’t he? He even wants to be a singer as good as me someday~”

…Akito’s starting to regret starting this.

Like, immensely.

But he can definitely turn this back around on Arata.

“Yeah, Onii-chan’s such a good singer. But, hey, you’ve never told me about her!”

“What, am I supposed to tell you about all my adoring fans?”

“Well, you always talk about Gale. Gale this, Gale that, ‘did I tell you what Gale sent me this morning?’”

Arata’s jaw drops open slightly and he turns bright red.

“Aki…!”

“Oh, you and Gale… text?” Kuba says, and Arata’s clearly unable to figure out a response, so Akito smirks and turns to her.

“Oh, yeah. All the time. He’s practically Onii-chan’s internet boyfriend.”

Arata glares at Akito as hard as he can before turning back to Kuba.

“Sorry about him. You know how kids are, Masuyo-chan. Can I call you that?”

He winks at Kuba, and she lets out a breathless laugh. Oh my god, she has a huge crush on Arata.

This is terrible. Akito hates this so much.

29. Post something you’ll never post or a scene that was cut from an already posted fic:

This is something I wrote a while ago for fun that I never posted because it’s just this one scene:

When An walks into WEEKEND GARAGE, she doesn’t know what she’s expecting, but it’s certainly not whatever the hell this is.

Kohane and Toya. Screaming at each other at the top of their lungs.

Arata’s sipping on a cup of coffee with the most exhausted look on his face, and he flashes her a glance that says “Get your partner under control.”

“Whoa, whoa!” She yells. “What’s going on?!”

“An-chan, tell Toya-kun he’s being a moron!”

“No, An, tell Kohane that she can’t possibly be a bigger fan of Tsukasa-senpai than I am!”

An freezes.

Oh. Oh no.

There’s an ooh from the corner, and Kisara, Akemi, Tatsuya, and Kotaro are all watching intently.

“Look. There’s no objective way to solve this.” Arata groans. “Can’t you just agree that you like him equally?”

“There actually is an objective way to solve this, I just don’t want to do it.” Akito responds.

“Then fucking do it, whatever it is has to be better than this!” Arata snaps. “You dragged me away from my partner for this! End it!”

Akito groans, and An shakes her head.

“Oh no, you’re not making me betray my partner like that. You call him.”

Kohane looks at her like she’s crazy, and Toya has the smuggest smirk she’s ever seen on him. God, he takes this way too seriously.

Akito sighs and unlocks his phone, dialing Tsukasa-senpai and putting him on speaker.

“Ha ha ha! Hello there, Akito! What do you need?”

Toya’s eyes light up.

“Senpai!”

“Oh, Toya! Are you calling me from Akito’s phone? Do you need anything, my love?”

Suddenly everyone that doesn’t go to Kamikou just freezes.

“Oh no, Senpai. I just needed to prove a point to someone.” Toya says. “I’ll see you at dinner?”

“Oh, of course! I’m making pasta, and I think Auntie’s making cookies?”

Toya tilts his head slightly.

“Mother’s making cookies? What’s the occasion?”

Tsukasa-senpai freezes.

“…Nothing.”

Toya’s face turns slightly amused.

“Senpai, you can’t lie to me.”

“I’m sorry! Auntie swore me to secrecy!”

And suddenly Toya’s eyes light up again.

“She got it, didn’t she? Her and father’s latest recording just went platinum?”

“AGH! Toya, you can’t tell Uncle! She’s planning to surprise him!”

Toya laughs into his hand.

“I won’t. I promise. I’ll get going right now, I think Mother could use some help with the surprise.”

“Oh, you don’t have to worry! I’m helping her!”

“Please, I insist.” Toya says.

“Alright, see you!”

Tsukasa-senpai hangs up, and Toya finishes up his coffee before throwing some cash on the table.

“Thank you, Ken-san. Fuck you, Kohane. I’ll see all of you later.”

“Hey! You can’t say that about Kohane!” An tries, but he’s already out the door before she can yell at him more.

“So they’re… cousins?” Arata asks, and Akito sighs.

“It’s a long, long story.”

“I think we have time.” Tatsuya says.
