ā£It was previously thought that lightning on Jupiter was similar to Earth, forming only in thunderstorms where water exists in all its phases ā ice, liquid, and gas. But flashes observed at altitudes too cold for pure liquid water to exist told a different story. This illustration uses data obtained by the mission to show what these high-altitude electrical storms look like. ā£

In Roman mythology, the god Jupiter drew a veil of clouds around himself to hide his mischief. It was only Jupiter's wife, the goddess Juno, who could peer through the clouds and reveal Jupiter's true nature. ⣠⣠Our @NASAJuno spacecraft is looking beneath the clouds of the massive gas giant, not seeking signs of misbehavior, but helping us to understand the planet's structure and history...⣠⣠Now, @NASAJuno just published its first findings on the amount of water in the gas giantās atmosphere. The Juno results estimate that at the equator, water makes up about 0.25% of the molecules in Jupiter's atmosphere ā almost three times that of the Sun. An accurate total estimate of this water is critical to solving the mystery of how our solar system formed.Ā
The JunoCam imager aboard Juno captured this image of Jupiter's southern equatorial region on Sept. 1, 2017. The bottom image is oriented so Jupiter's poles (not visible) run left-to-right of frame.

OurĀ @NASAJunoĀ spacecraft's JunoCam captured images of the chaotic, stormy northern hemisphere of Jupiter during its 24th close pass of the giant planet on Dec. 26, 2019. Using data from the flyby, citizen scientist Kevin M. Gill created this color-enhanced image. At the time, the spacecraft was about 14,600 miles (23,500 kilometers) from the tops of Jupiterās clouds, at a latitude of about 69 degrees north.ā£

The cracking rumble of thunder mixed with the soft, warm kisses of the rain is a better combination than you might think. I donāt like chasing storms but I appreciate the ones that come through where I live.
I love the majesty of them all, especially thunderstorms. I used to be afraid of them but now, if I let them, theyāll easily put me to sleep.
The only time I am truly afraid of storms is when the clouds touch the ground. Iām protected by hills and mountains so those storms donāt happen too often.
I have wondered if being in the presence of a thunderstorm is like being in the presence of the king? Where some might find him intimidating while for others heās soothing.
If I got the pleasure of meeting him, I think I would really like him. Iām not saying that only because Iām one of his subjects but also because I think I would be one of the ones that finds comfort in him.
I wonder.
I seem to have fallen for grey skies as I see myself running past gushing winds ,laying flat on the grassĀ humming quotes from my favorite books, those I seem to have etched onto my skin , into unknown,Ā poetic , compositions of music, misery and love. And oh my! running through storms , hysterically laughing , barefoot , with my hands in the air , trying to capture this feeling for I wish it to last forever.
Been painting all my favorite stormy weather pictures from pinterest and I so wanna be a part of them x
It just seems kind of random
I finally finished my first multi-chapter fic and decided to post it here too.
After taking a deep breath Icy raised her fist to knock at the door. She shouldnāt feel so nervous. She was here to comfort her sister. Why did she feel so uneasy?Ā
Icy knocked gently. She wasnāt sure if Stormy had heard her, and was about to try again when she heard Stormy say āGo away.ā It was obvious from her voice that she had been crying again. She sounded so weak and upset and⦠wet?
āStormy, Iām sorry. Can I come in?ā Icy responded gently. No response. I guess we really are doing this all over again. Icy hesitantly opened the door, half expecting Stormy to throw something at her out of frustration. Instead, Stormy was once again in her bundle of blankets on the bed.Ā
Her sister didnāt try to hide in the blankets like she had last time. In fact, she refused to acknowledge Icyās presence at all. Stormy was laying on her side, her eyes focused on a random spot on the wall. Icy could see the tear stains on Stormyās cheeks and her eyes were red and puffy. There was no way she could mess this up again.
Icy sat on the side of the bed again, the same spot she was in before. Icy set the food she brought next to her.Ā
āStormy,ā Icy whispered. Stormy closed her eyes again and squeezed them shut, in an effort to keep new tears forming. āStormy Iām sorry.ā Stormyās eyes shot open, still not looking at Icy. āYou needed help and I freaked out and left. Iām sorry. I should have been there for you.ā Stormy didnāt react to Icyās words but she knew that her sister heard them.Ā
Icy took the silence as a cue to keep talking. Words poured from her. āI know everything that we went through this past year has been hard on you. Iām your big sister. Iām supposed to protect you. I just keep doing it wrong. I shouldnāt have walked out on you. I just got overheated and⦠it was just too much. Itās not your fault. I should have paid attention more. Darcy and I⦠we care about you. I know we give you a hard time a lot, especially Darcy. But she really does care about you. You shouldnāt have to be scared around us or on guard around us. Iāll try to do better and Iāll make sure Darcy does too. Youāre a really great sister Stormy. I know I donāt tell you that enough. You're sweet and funny and prettyā¦ā
Icy turned her head to look at Stormy. Apparently, Icy had been so engrossed in her speech that she didnāt realize that Stormy was now sitting up. The two girls looked at each other in silence. Stormyās eyes were filled with hope, but it was obvious she was still nervous that this was all some sort of trick.Ā
āI-I brought some food,ā Icy said, grabbing something random and handing it to Stormy. A half smushed granola bar. Icy really should have brought something better. āI assumed you hadnāt eaten since yesterday,ā Icy offered as an explanation. Stormy gingerly took the bar from her and started eating it.Ā
To fill the silence Icy started speaking again. āI know Iāve messed up in the past, but I want to try to make it up to you now. Just tell me how and Iāll do it.ā Stormy looked down and started mumbling again. She was about to start crying again. This was Icyās second chance.Ā
Before her sister could move she pulled her into a hug. Once safely in her older sisterās arms, Stormy allowed herself to cry. It was the same reckless sobbing as before with tears bleeding through her shirt, but this time Stormy had Icy rubbing her back and whispering reassurances in her ear. It didnāt take long for Icy to get overheated again, a common trait for magical beings whose powers were based on ice, but this time she refused to pull away. It was uncomfortable, but she would sacrifice comfort for her sister.Ā
After a little while Stormy calmed down and pulled away from Icy to sit up. Tears completely covered her cheeks. Icy awkwardly tried to use the back of her hand to wipe the tears away, but just ended up spreading them around more. Stormy chuckled slightly at this and wiped the rest of her tears away herself.Ā
āIām sorry about all of this,ā Stormy said quietly.
āStormy, donāt worry about it. Itās fine.ā Icy responded truthfully.
āNo, it's all my fault anyway. This wouldnāt have happened to you,ā Stormy said, sounding dejected.
āYou know, I donāt know what happened on this mission you went onā Icy saw Stormy wince. āWould you tell me what happened?ā
Stormy looked hesitant, but started talking shakily. āI-I went to Red Fountain. There was this⦠concert there. Musa was singing,ā Stormy buried her face in her hands. āIām sorry this is so stupid.āĀ
Stormy started to tear up again. I probably should say something. āJust keep talking,ā Icy said, wincing at her words. It came out as an order. She probably should have tried to be gentler.
However, Stormy didnāt seem to notice and kept talking. āShe ended up completely overpowering me, and the entire reason I was even there was for revenge because she overpowered me before.ā Stormy looked down and closed her eyes, causing tears to drip down her cheeks. It hurt Icy to see her little sister like this.
āIām sorry youāre upset. I can understand thatāā
āNo! You donāt know!ā Stormy cut in, causing Icy to jump slightly. āYou donāt know what itās like to always be the weakest, always be the worst. I canāt defeat one fairy even with a stupid power up!ā Stormy started crying again. āItās just⦠I donāt want things to be like this anymore.ā
This wasā¦a lot. How was Icy supposed to comfort her sister without flat out lying to her? Stormy was the weakest. Losing one on one to a fairy with a power up was pathetic. The only time Icy lost one on one with a fairy was when she fought the fairy of the dragon flame. What was she supposed to say to make her feel better? Iām sorry you suck?
Stormy looked at Icy, expecting her to say something, but she was at a loss for words. The silence became uncomfortable. Icy sat stone faced, hoping that the right words would miraculously come to her. Why did she ever think she could do this?
āIcy?ā Stormy hesitantly asked. āJust donāt leave again.ā
Icy turned to meet Stormyās eyes. āIām sorry. I donāt know what to say to make you feel better,ā Icy responded truthfully. āIām not really good at all this emotional stuff.ā
āItās fine,ā Stormy said, wiping the remaining tears from her face. āThanks for trying. I do feel better though.ā
āIām glad it worked a little.ā
Stormy laughed softly. ā...So, did you change your shirt because of me?ā
āOh, uh yeah,ā Icy said looking down at the fresh wet patch on her new shirt. āLooks like Iāll have to change it again.ā Stormy smiled slightly at this.
The two girls sat next to each other in amicable silence. āThings are different now,ā Stormy said quietly.Ā
Icy turned to look at her sister. āYeah, they are.ā Icy paused. āI think thatās how itās supposed to be though. Things are always changing.ā
āI donāt think I like it.ā
āIāll always be there for you. That will never change.āĀ
Stormy shifted closer to her sister. āThanks Icy.ā
āItās what a sister is supposed to do.ā
